Lebanese cuisine is unique and has its own identity. Over the years, many restaurants have cropped up in and around Lakdikapul-Towlichoki areas. While most of them serve near-authentic Lebanese cuisine, only few could survive due to various reasons. One such survivor is Spice 6, which has recently opened a new outlet in the upmarket Banjara Hills neighbourhood to cater to the elite crowd.
Now let me share my gastronomic experience which began with a simple and impressive Fattoush,. a refreshing salad with garden fresh vegetables, pickled olives and crispy feta bread. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma, a Middle Eastern dish of garlicky poultry served on pitas. This chicken was flavoured with a savoury yogurt sauce, I must say this by far is one of the tastiest shawarmas I’ve had till date.
Its time for my most favourite dish Kabsa Laham’. This is usually made with rice (mostly with basmati), meat and a mixture of spices almost like our biryani but not as spicier as biryani. There are many kinds of Kabsa and each kind has a uniqueness about it. It’s quite popular in most of the Gulf nations. The meat is cooked along with the rice and spices for long hours to get that aromatic and tender meat which simply falls off the bone and melts in the mouth.
Finally for desserts I had Baklava and Kunefa. Both are very contrasting but would without doubt make you nostalgic. Baklava is made of layers of filo sheets, filled with chopped nuts and dipped in sugar syrup or honey; its crispy yet juicy. Kunefe is a dessert to die for. Shredded fillo dough, filled with sweet cheese, baked in homemade syrup topped with pistachios. Every single bite...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to spice 6, my culinary journey took me through highs and lows, with the grilled chicken emerging as the shining star amidst a constellation of disappointing dishes.
The grilled chicken, a testament to the restaurant's potential, was a delectable treat that satisfied my taste buds. Its succulent texture and well-balanced flavors showcased the kitchen's expertise when executed correctly.
However, my excitement quickly waned as I delved into the other dishes I had ordered. The tandoori chicken lacked the expected succulence and flavor, falling short of my fond memories from previous visits. The seekh kebabs, which should have been a flavorful delight, were an unexpected letdown—chewy and devoid of the expected taste explosion. The shawarma, another dish that held promise, did not meet expectations either, leaving me longing for the authentic flavors I had anticipated.
While the grilled chicken managed to salvage the meal, I couldn't ignore the exorbitant prices attached to each dish. Considering the underwhelming performance of most items, the cost seemed unjustifiable.
In addition, the unfortunate state of the cutlery further dampened the dining experience. The outdated utensils cast a shadow over an otherwise presentable ambiance.
In the end, my visit to spice 6 was a mixed affair, with the grilled chicken being the saving grace amidst a selection of lackluster dishes. While I appreciate the effort put into the highlight of the meal, I hope the management addresses the inconsistencies and works towards restoring the overall quality of the...

We ordered the Non-Veg Mezza Platter with Pita Bread, but unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. We found a hair-like particle on the pita bread, which was concerning. Additionally, the Muttabel was not fresh, and when we informed the staff, they initially argued with us instead of addressing the issue immediately. Eventually, they replaced it with Baba Ghanoush, but by that time, the experience had already been tainted.
The other non-vegetarian items we ordered from the platter were also disappointing in terms of flavor and freshness. I have been a frequent visitor to Spice 6 in the past, and I can confidently say that the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly. It was quite disheartening to see that they are not paying attention to customer concerns and are letting standards slip.
We had initially hoped to enjoy a relaxing dinner with friends, but due to the underwhelming food and service, we ended up leaving and going to a different location for dinner. I hope the management takes feedback seriously and improves the quality and service moving forward, as it was once a place I...
