Review: 5 Stars for Gufa Restaurant - A Hidden Gem in Mysore’s Culinary Scene!
Dining out with a mixed bag of 10—kids with picky palates, elderly members with dietary dos and don'ts, and the rest of us trying to pretend we’re easygoing—is usually a recipe for chaos. But Gufa Restaurant? They handled us like pros, and I’m here to spill the beans (and dal) about why this place deserves your attention!
First Impressions: We walked into a bustling restaurant that could’ve been a stress fest. But at the helm of this madness was Mrs. Shilpa, the front desk superstar. Picture this: a frazzled customer was having a meltdown over a phone miscommunication about wait times. Did Shilpa lose her cool? Nope. She kept it classy—calmly explaining, soothing tempers, and probably solving world peace in her spare time. By the time we were seated, we were already fans of her diplomacy.
Seating 10 Hungry Souls: Finding a table for 10 without summoning Gandalf-level wizardry? Shilpa nailed it. Not only did we get a spacious table, but the staff was also on their A-game. With two elderly family members in tow, they made sure their dietary needs were met and served their meals within 15 minutes—practically a culinary miracle. Meanwhile, the rest of us had the luxury to lazily debate our choices like true food critics.
Cave Goals: Gufa lives up to its name—step inside, and you’re in a cozy, dimly-lit cave. It’s part Indiana Jones, part comfy hideout. Rustic decor, earthy vibes, and just enough light to see your food (but not your dining partner’s judging eyes) made the ambiance unforgettable.
Food That Hits the Spot: Let’s talk flavors. I had my sights set on their Dal Makhani, a nostalgic favorite from my Mysore days, and it didn’t disappoint—it was rich, velvety, and ridiculously good. The rest of the gang devoured a mix of veg and non-veg dishes, each bursting with distinct flavors. Even the kids, who usually eat as if we’re poisoning them, polished off their plates. Bonus points for the gajar halwa dessert, which had us fighting over the last spoonful.
Extra Perks: Gufa doesn’t just excel in food—it’s got the logistics down too. From spacious parking (bless them!) to an elevator for seniors, it’s the little conveniences that made our visit stress-free. And the pricing? Worth every rupee for the fantastic food and service.
Final Verdict: Gufa Restaurant isn’t just a meal—it’s a memory waiting to happen. Stellar staff, a one-of-a-kind cave ambiance, and lip-smacking food make it a must-visit in Mysore. Don’t just take my word for it; go, experience the magic (and order that Dal...

I visited Gufa restaurant during pre-covid period for lunch on one day. It is situated in the premises of beautiful Hotel Pai Vista.
If variety of "ambiance" is what you love, then Gufa Restaurant should be an experience that you should not miss.
The interiors of restaurant are designed as a dark medieval cave structure. Once you greet the receptionist and step inside, you would feel that you are in a medieval cave. Walls have been given an amazing cave/stone like texture. Lights are dark along with some dim colorful lights here and there. On the walls you would find artificial insects and its very cold inside, just like inside an actual dark cave.
This is a multi-cuisine restaurant with good choices for everyone. To begin with we ordered Chilled beer with Lime Soda along with Starters - Peanut Masala and Sprint Rolls. For Main Course we had - Kadai Paneer and Butter Roti, Daal Fry and Rice. Food tasted very good with balanced spices and oil levels. We truly enjoyed the food.
Service is very good. Staff is attentive and caring. Manger is aware of the dishes and can help in selecting dishes suiting your liking. I have one special mention for the staff and I want to extend my gratitude to the staff and the management for this incident - my 6 yrs old kid started feeling cold inside the restaurant. We were not having any warm clothes with us. Staff members observed that she was feeling cold and hence she was not comfortable in having food. They proactively helped us in bringing a blanket from the hotel and wrapped it around my kid. We felt very happy with this heart-touching gesture of the staff. Kudos to the staff and the management for having such caring staff.

As the name itself suggests, 'Gufha' is a cave restaurant located in the heart of Mysuru. The ambience is the King here!!While stepping to the Gufha floor, everything you see after the elevator is opened, is inexpressible. They have done a wonder in that floor.
Is it cave art or the forgotten world of Indiana Jones? That is for you to discover. A restaurant which breaks the stereotypes set by all multi-cuisine restaurants, the Gufha restaurant, serves Northwest frontier cuisines in cave theme setting. It is the perfect place to whet your appetite with Indian, Peshawari, Afghani delicacies..
Had recently visited this restaurant with my group of friends. It’s located in Hotel Pai Vista, just opposite to KSRTC Bus Station Mysore. Initially it will scare you as the environment is like a jungle. Statues of scorpion, snake and other animals are present to give that feeling. Dim lights are there which will make a perfect ambience. Soft music is played in the background as that of adventurous movies.
The staff were very friendly and provided apt service. They took almost 30 minutes to serve us. Reservations are not necessary if you are visitng during off peak season but during Dussehra, Christmas you migh want to book a table.
