Unexpectedly lot of dissatisfactions, unpleasant surprises. Not worth the hype.
I am familiar with this property for last 20 years. When it was only an open top - Roof Top Garden - restaurant, it was a pleasant experience.
Expecting the same and thinking the claims on their site is true, I have booked for a 1 day's stay with family 28th & 29th September 2019.
The front desk was courteous to accommodate the luggage 2 hrs earlier than our check in time. But the supervisor there seems to have a feeling to keep the customers at a distance - he was keep telling us to go and wait in the sofa - it wasn't even a very crowded time. If it was crowded time it was at least understandable but he was cutting short enquiries. When finally, we reached the hotel at 12.15PM to check in, the process took about 40 minutes to allocate and confirm a room. He was calling someone to check the room readiness as we have booked 3+1 accommodation.
Rooms are having a window view of under construction concrete structures. Whereas, most hotels in this street have good road facing, park facing, or the 6 Gate facing, or Palace view.
Somehow, I felt the entire building is somewhat dungeon with very limited natural sun light entry. Just for eg., if you see the Reception area, even during morning hours they have to switch on the electrical lights. It was also humid and irritating. I am not sure how so many foreign country visitor prefer this accommodation or I am not sure if the different floors have better facilities.
Swimming pool is again not up to the mark. It is too small and too unclean, untidy.
As far as I know, this was first Resto bar which implemented the no smoking/smoking zone regulation and installed a separate cabin. But alas, I saw cigarette buds on the restaurant floor. To understand if the rule is relaxed now, When I enquired about it to the supervisor there, he said the rule is on. Then I had shown him the buds and asked how, his reply was hilarious. He mentioned it was from previous night, someone new without knowing the restriction lighted the cig.!! :) and they immediately stopped them. This conversation happened at 1PM the next day. So, I asked him if so, the floor is not cleaned for the whole day since then. Then he called someone in charge and said some bla bla etc., that how this happened and he ll check the cctv and fine him etc., But ultimately, till the time I was there for the next 1 hour no one bothered to clean it. IMHO, for the size of this restaurant, this property is adequately staffed but still the non-response is appalling.
The website claims the traditional appeal of this hotel building. This is just a hype. I could not find any such except for the gimmick of a photo properties and one dress and artifacts sale counter there around reception area.
The repeated request and persistence to remind us to vacate the room from 12.00 PM even though we have very clearly informed before booking itself that we might need 2 hrs extended check out time and it was accepted by the hotel prior, the same was informed by us to the front desk again while check in and on the next day morning while we were going out.!!!. Just around 11.45AM when we returned, we reminded them that we ll be requiring the room till 1.30PM as informed earlier and we do not have any intention of extending it, asked them to prepare for the room cleaning etc., This was irritating, considering the way it took time for them to ready the room for check in on 28th Sep.
Good Things : They have accommodated our request for a safe locker facility for luggage till 6PM on the day of check out which was at 12NOON. All the switches in the room are very clearly and legibly marked with identification stickers. Safety and location reach wise I did not see any issues and I can rate these...
Read moreWe've been to the Parklane Hotel ten times now. However, nothing is the same. Supervisor Mr. Harsha sir, housekeeping Kumarswamy, and his team are very helpful. Hats off to them, as they are trying to make the guests happy even though infrastructure sometimes does not permit that. The management is clueless. Only rooms are allotted; since my reservations were made through Goibibo, we could not use 2 of the 3 park view rooms due to the AC not working. Refunds are never permitted during check in as we were not happy with the room. Me, wife, father, In-laws had to sleep on the floor with kids in the first night, and the next day, two different rooms were provided. Mr. Harsha sir was kind enough to convince management to get a Rs 2000 refund as a token of apology (~10%) of the total booking amount for our bitter experience. Even if one calls them in advance and requests any specific things during check-in, like room preference, the same is not entertained. A magnificent hotel may have lost everything as a result of neglect. Attitude is good, but only when accompanied by quality. Please take money, but deliver quality. I miss my old Parklane and the old people here, whom I met nine times. Please avoid the 2nd floor room, even if given for free. Please check that the AC, hot water, bathroom equipment, and accessories are working fine before checking in.
