I went to this place after reading about it on Google. Here's my feedback. It's located in a lane about 300 meters from the main road and not easily noticeable. The restaurant is non air-conditioned. Not recommended during summers or on days with high temperature. They don't have a guest washroom. Their only washroom (supposedly) is next to their food storage and it looks more like their staff toilet. It was dirty and there was no wash basin in the washroom either. Kitchen was dirty and is almost adjacent to the washroom. Felt sick after seeing that despicable sight. Dirty water on the floor with staff footprints were clearly visible. Most of the items on the menu were nnot available when I visited and I visited around 8.30pm on a Sunday. Their portion size is also Iess. I ordered Chicken Chettinad and was surprised to receive only 2 pieces of chicken. They don't have a wide variety of dishes from Keralite menu. In fact, they claim to have meals thali, but that's only available during lunch. My server managed to goof up my order. Same was the case with few other nearby tables. Card payment not possible. They claim to have a card machine, but it doesn't work due to poor mobile network. Lame excuse.
Overall it was a bad experience and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone primarily because of unhygienic condition of the kitchen, lack of guest...
Read moreThe place is easily accessible from the main road. It boasts a rich history (est: 1952). But the restaurant could do an good makeover to be at par with the current day and age. The food was surprisingly delicious. Had a beef kothu porotta. The beef was well cooked and soft and the porotta fresh, with generous proportion of egg too. The price is quite a bargain as well. But the place was a bit empty when i visited. I guess they can vamp up their reach and sales with a makeover and relaunch, coz they really do have the potential to be a real resto cafe(far better one at it than all the fake ones popping up these days of course). But if they decide just to bask in their glory days then their future situation will be like the present condition of Colombo (pun...
Read moreWe had the worst experience there. My students got food poisoning from the hotel. The place looks neat and tidy, but it's not. We went to the hotel with students during a media visit. We ordered lunch around 3:30 pm. They served a few biryanis, but it took a long time. They mentioned there was a scarcity of food, so we ordered ghee rice and beef curry instead. However, they didn’t serve much of that either and didn't provide salad. We even found a dead, juicy housefly in the curry. At that point, we dumped our lunch and complained, but they didn’t take it seriously and didn't reduce the price of the food. It was very disgusting and...
