Hotel Punjab, Edapally – A Full Masala Blockbuster (Now Showing: Butter Chicken Dreams & Lassi Gym Membership) Location: NH 66, near Palarivattom Flyover, Samridhi Nagar, Edapally, Kochi
We entered Hotel Punjab thinking, “Okay, let’s eat.” We exited like, “Where’s the nearest bed? We need to lie down and reflect on life.” This place isn’t just a restaurant. It’s an emotional rollercoaster with ghee, spice, and the occasional food coma.
Starters – Scene 1: Fire in the Hole
Kalmi Kabab Chicken – This chicken clearly passed out from tenderness before it hit the grill. Juicy, smoky, and perfectly charred. We suspect it was marinated with affection and a little witchcraft.
Paneer Tikka Shashkik – No clue what “Shashkik” means, but if it’s code for “paneer that slaps,” we support it. Smoky edges, soft center – like a polite rockstar.
Main Course – Scene 2: Curry Cinematic Universe
Butter Chicken – Sweet baby Jesus. Creamy, rich, and smoother than your ex trying to make a comeback. Matar Paneer – Well-mannered curry, full of flavor and dignity. Bhindi Do Plaza – If you hate bhindi, this dish will heal your relationship. Crispy, dry, full-on redemption arc. Rarha Murg – This is not just curry. This is flavour on steroids. Spicy, deep, and enough personality to win elections.
Everything paired beautifully with Ghee Rice – light and fragrant, like it did 20 minutes of pranayama before landing on our plate.
Lassi – Scene 3: Arm Day
Ordered Mango and Plain Lassi. Taste? Heaven. Thickness? Cement mixer. We’re convinced you need a gym subscription to finish one glass. Chef, just a humble request: let us sip, not bench press our drinks.
Bread Request – Scene 4: Lighten the Load
Your naans and kulchas are amazing, but please consider adding Phulkas or lighter options. After three gravies and a Hulk-sized lassi, our uncles and aunties (and let’s be honest, us too) would love something soft, easy, and less carb-heavy. Give us that phulka life!
Supporting Hero – Mr. Samim Akbar
Samim bhai, you’re a legend. Polite, super fast, helpful, and totally in control. He didn’t just take orders – he made recommendations, checked on us, and made us feel like family. If he starts his own fan club, sign us up!
Ambience – Clean, Chill, Smells Like Happy Tears
Not flashy, but tidy and totally comfort-zone material. And that aroma? Straight from the heavens. You’ll be drooling before you even sit down.
Now, Let’s Talk Money:
Yes, it’s a little on the pricey side. But honestly? The quality makes it worth it. You're paying for solid portions, top-notch ingredients, and enough masala to power your soul through Monday.
Final Verdict:
Food: 5 stars + a standing ovation Lassi: Delish but doubles as a dumbbell Phulkas: Please add. Your butter chicken deserves it. Service: Samim Akbar = MVP Price: Slightly premium, but hey – this isn’t roadside roti, this is gourmet ghee greatness

Read moreFinally visited Hoy Punjab for lunch with my family after my niece, Zeba, suggested it. I’ve seen this place so many times but never got around to trying it. Overall it was a nice experience!
The food was good and felt like quality stuff, though I’d say it’s a bit on the pricier side. We tried the Peshawar Chapli Kebab, which was tasty, but if it’s supposed to be like the ones from Peshawar, Pakistan, it wasn’t exactly the same. Still, no complaints – it was delicious!
The staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome. Shoutout to Victor from Punjab and Zam Zam from Manipur for being so nice! There was another guy, Shahidul, who was also really helpful.
Now, about the parking – it’s a big issue. They don’t seem to have their own parking, and the service road is super congested. And, well, welcome to India – people don’t park properly, which makes driving on service roads even more frustrating. But I have to give a huge shoutout to the security staff. Despite the crazy heat outside, he helped us with a smile and made sure we left safely. Big thanks to him – he’s a star!
We were all pretty tired not well after traveling, so we couldn’t try their desserts like Falooda or Rasmalai, which I’ve heard are really good. Next time for sure!
All in all, a solid meal with great service. We’ll be back soon...
Read moreI recently dined at Hotel Hoy Punjab, and it was a delightful experience. This North Indian/Punjabi restaurant offers an authentic taste of the region, with a particular focus on Grills, BBQ, and Butter Chicken.
The Grills and BBQ dishes were a highlight of my meal. The succulent, well-marinated meats were cooked to perfection, offering a smoky, charred flavor that was simply irresistible. The variety of kebabs and tandoori items on the menu provided a range of choices to suit different tastes.
The Butter Chicken at Hotel Hoi Punjabi is a must-try. It was rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. The chicken was tender, and the sauce was the right balance of spices, making it one of the best Butter Chicken dishes I've had.
The restaurant's ambiance was cozy and welcoming, with attentive staff who were knowledgeable about the menu and ready to offer recommendations. It's an ideal place for a casual meal with friends or a special dinner with loved ones.
In conclusion, Hotel Hoi Punjabi is a fantastic destination for those craving North Indian and Punjabi cuisine, especially Grills, BBQ, and Butter Chicken. The quality of the food, along with the warm atmosphere, makes it a top choice for anyone looking to savor the flavors...
