Review of Veg Hotel - March 2025
I recently visited the Veg Hotel, and here's my experience. The hotel is conveniently located with free parking space available both in front and opposite the hotel, making it easy to find a spot without any hassle.
Ambiance: The hotel was a little crowded during my visit, but the atmosphere was still quite comfortable. The service staff was attentive, and the place was clean and well-maintained, which added to the overall positive impression.
Food: Written this review after having the complete portion of every dish.
The main highlight of the Veg Hotel is their Sadhya, which is available every day of the year – 365 days. Before you start dining, you need to pick up a Sadhya coupon from the counter, which costs Rs. 250 per person. The Sadhya itself offers a large variety of dishes. It starts with rice and parippu, followed by rice with sambar, and then a range of payasams (4 varieties).
Here’s a breakdown of what I tried:
Chips, Chakka Varatty, and Vada: These were excellent! The crispy chips and flavorful chakka varatty were highlights.
Curries/Side Dishes: Some of the curries were good, but others didn’t stand out. The Aviyal, for instance, was average. The pickles were overly salty, and the mango pickle was sour and seemed to have aged poorly.
Payasam: Out of the four varieties, Adapayasam and Kadala Payasam were great, while the Carrot Payasam was watery and not up to the mark. The Milk Semiya Payasam with Boli was okay, but nothing spectacular.
Rice with Pulisheri/Moru Curry and Rice with Rasam/Pachamoru: The parippu pulisheri rasam was flavorful and a good combination, while the sambar was thick but tasted good, though opinions might vary based on your location and taste preferences.
Good Points: Unlimited refills are available, including pappadam, which is always a bonus. The serving was clean, neat, and well-organized, and the staff were friendly.
Bad Points: The overall taste of the dishes was just average. There was no “wow factor” to the food, and while the variety was impressive, the quality didn’t really stand out. Some people might be filled just by the sheer number of dishes on the banana leaf, but if you’re a true Sadhya lover who enjoys all the items in the traditional order, you might find the experience a bit underwhelming. For someone who enjoys only a few specific dishes, however, it could be a decent meal.
Overall Rating: If you're someone who loves to indulge in the full Sadhya experience and values variety, you might rate it around 3/5 or below. For those who prefer smaller portions or certain dishes, it could be a more positive experience. The Veg Hotel offers a decent Sadhya, but it doesn't quite deliver the exceptional taste or authenticity that would make it stand out as a...

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
Review: I recently had the pleasure of visiting Mothers Veg Plaza, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! This restaurant truly deserves all the praise for its outstanding Kerala Sadhya and delectable variety of dosas.
First and foremost, let me start with the Kerala Sadhya. It was an absolute feast for the senses! The aroma of freshly cooked spices and the vibrant colors of the different curries instantly transported me to the beautiful land of Kerala. Each dish was prepared with utmost care and authenticity, reflecting the rich culinary traditions of the region. From the flavorful avial to the creamy olan and the tangy sambhar, every bite was a burst of flavors. The highlight was undoubtedly the fragrant steamed rice served on a banana leaf, which added an extra touch of authenticity to the entire experience. It's evident that the chefs at Mothers Veg Plaza have perfected the art of creating an exceptional Sadhya.
The variety of dosas offered at Mothers Veg Plaza is truly impressive. Whether you're a fan of the classic masala dosa or looking for something more adventurous like the cheese or paneer dosa, this place has got you covered. The dosas were perfectly crispy on the outside, and the fillings were generously portioned, making each bite absolutely delightful. The accompanying coconut chutney and sambar were the perfect accompaniments, adding a burst of flavors to the already amazing dosas. I can confidently say that the dosas at Mothers Veg Plaza are among the best I've ever had.
In addition to the extraordinary food, the service at Mothers Veg Plaza was impeccable. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with a smile. They went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was memorable and comfortable.
Overall, my visit to Mothers Veg Plaza was a gastronomic adventure filled with authentic flavors and a warm dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an exceptional Kerala Sadhya or craving a variety of mouthwatering dosas. Mothers Veg Plaza truly deserves all the accolades for their outstanding food, attentive service, and inviting ambiance. I cannot wait to return for another delightful culinary journey!

Read moreScene: Empty stomached non Malayalis who have been on diet food for a fortnight in a panchakarma hospital barges into the restaurant for filling their desperately craving stomach. Wait did I tell you we had only 10 mins to reach the airport for our flight.
In a broken Tamil+English+Malayalam we asked what we can get the quickest to wind up in 10 minutes. He said Sadhya (kerala traditional platter served on plantain leaf)
In next 2 minutes payment done, 3 leafs laid out on table. In next minute the top row of the leaf is filled. The serving staff clearly knew how clueless we were about the items on our plates. She asked in Tamil - where are you from? I said Bangalore. Without further question she started explaining each item -
Top row :
4 pachadis(curd based dish) of pineapple, ginger(inji thayir), Cucumber(kichadi) and beetroot. 4 pickles of sort - raw mango, ginger, Indian gooseberry and one other which I don't recall.
Each item in top row is to be mixed with rice and tasted is what I was told.
Left:
A banana, papad, banana chips sweet and salt, salted fried pickled chillie.
Centre:
The staple red rice, avial, thoran with 4 varieties of curry to try with your rice - dal, sambar, rasam and two other.
All of the items above are spread in the very beginning except for the sambar kinda things. They come after the 4 payasam. This is the highlight of the entire menu.
Thanks to Vishnu , the serving staff who guided us beautifully how payasam has to be eaten. The adai payasam has to be eaten with mashed banana from your left. The kadale payasam with broken papad. Carrot one goes directly undisturbed. The semiya goes on top of poli(puran poli/obbattu) , gets a gentle mix and then finds a way into your mouth. This section of food was a true experiment and it turned out to be a unique experience.
End:
Curd and butter milk
Guess what we managed a memorable lunch and reached airport on time with our happy stomach. Credits to the serving Staff.
Also, I have had a delivery once from the same place but being a non-malayalam the experience was not pleasant. The food was just ok and delivery had lot of confusions involved. The veg biriyani and fried rice had some funky jasmine smell which we didn't enjoy. Request the management to please look...
