Was hunting for pizzas on a Saturday late afternoon and hit The Hearth Kitchen to get the pizza craving satiated and I must say we had a nice meal! Parking is on the street.
My margherita test- 3.5/5 on taste and authenticity. It missed the edge bubbles of a typical super hot wood fired pizza. Found some white rava-like speckles, not sure what was it. The base had an ever so slightly bready consistency. Found some pesto stains here and there.
But it was still tasty, the Hawaiian pizza, the mozzarella sticks, the ricotta and spinach pocket, the chicken wings, all were simply great. Oh yeah, and the pumpkin puréed gnocchi, great too! The portion sizes for the price was was on the premium side! Pizza/antipasti arrived in no proper order but was reasonably fast. The kombucha didn’t feel natural- the three available flavours felt like it differed by a few drops of essence- the smells were distinctively overpowering the flavour of a kombucha. Well and what’s kombucha doing in an Italian restaurant!!??
The ambiance is just lovely- nice painted walls with at all over, pleasant interior.
The service was polite and reasonably fast at this time with about two tables occupied.
Some typical Italian desserts would’ve made it an even better experience- how far can an affogato be when they already boast of expresso. Didn’t try the dessert pizzas, instead had to head out searching for gelatos to complete the Italian...
Read moreWent there with my parents both of whom are very picky about their pizza along with my wife and child. We had the pizza bomb, the peach and ginger lemon Kombucha, the mint mojito and the star of the night, the meaty woodcraft pizza with bacon and olives add-on. All i can say is, "damn, that pie was out of this world." These guys get it so right and how. The grease, salt, bounce and bite on the dough, the quality of the cheese they use, the perfectly flavoured sauce base. The meat was exceptional as well. The meat to fat ratio on the bacon was spot on, crisp af. The chorizo had none of that overbearing funk and the chicken was caramelized and done so right. Yum. Yum. Yum ... Yum. Highly recommend. Do not forget the olive and chilli oil drizzle before you dig in and you're good to go. The service was exceptional as well, had a brother duo serve us Albin and Ibin, such amazing hosts. Great experience and would recommend to anyone in Kochi looking for some authentic tasting flavourful pie. Only thing I sorely missed was a tall pitcher of Sangria (the boo' kind) but hey, you win some ... Thank you so much to the chef and team at Hearth. Proud to call myself a convert, #hearthie...
Read moreWe had been looking forward to visiting Hearth Kitchen in Panampillynagar for a while, and finally, we made it there on a Friday evening. While the parking space is limited, you can park along the roadside. The restaurant's interior is decent, and the wood-fired pizza oven adds to its authenticity.
As for the service, it was just average, with nothing particularly outstanding. The pizzas we ordered were decent, but not exceptional. I would recommend trying the four cheese Veg pizza, as it was quite delightful. However, the Chicken Mediterranean pizza left much to be desired. It was disappointing to receive frozen chicken that had a stale smell, especially from a place known for wood-fired pizza. We couldn't finish the pizza due to the unpleasant aftertaste.
On a positive note, the Mozzarella sticks were a hit, and the kids loved them. It's worth noting that they were still offering the Easy Diner promotion as of October 2023.
In summary, our experience at Hearth Kitchen was below par, primarily due to the disappointing Chicken Mediterranean pizza. While there were some highlights, it didn't meet our expectations for a wood-fired...
