My second visit here, and there's a good reason why. Summertown provides some of the best food in town in a beautifully decorated cafe with fantastic service, and that is something that needs to be commended. We went as a big group, and ordered a total of 7 dishes, along with 3 drinks:
Chicken Quesadilla: The quantity they provided here was good enough to count as a main. It was served with cream cheese and a delectable salsa, and was soft and cheesy yet not too much to get tired of.
Hot Butter Spiced Calamari: If you love calamari, you'll definitely love this dish. We had asked for extra spicy however and were disappointed with the spice levels, as it turned out to be quite mild. That doesn't take away from the rest of the flavor however, and the squid had a nice crispy outside and was soft and flavorful on the inside. It was served with a side of lettuce. Overall it was good, but for the price there are better and more filling options on the menu.
Braised pork belly: Smoky, melt in your mouth, and just sweet enough from that BBQ flavored sauce, this is everything you could ask for from this dish. It was served with a side of lettuce. Highly recommended.
Beef with caramelised onion sliders on brioche buns: It was perfect for a small bite, with a side of fries and ketchup. The beef was perfectly cooked, and the fries were seasoned really well. A decent option if you’re looking a quick snack when you’re not too hungry
Cheesy BBQ chicken Pizza: The pizza was generous in portion and cooked pretty well with a crispy crust, the barbeque was perfect and not too overpowering with its sweetness. If you want a value for money meal with a friend, consider this as a good choice.
Pulled beef lasagna: It is very hard to find a decent lasagna in kochi, either they're too low on the cheese or too high on the sauce, or you order a non veg lasagna only to go diving in looking for any traces of meat. This one was different. This was a well made lasagna that had ample cheese and plenty of beef, more than I expected actually, which was a welcome surprise. The sauce didn't overpower the dish and it was not too greasy or oily. Highly recommend.
Cheese stuffed chicken breast: this is a hit or miss, considering how my friend took a while to even find the cheese in the entire dish, you can see how it ended up being. Your usual chicken and rice style recipe with vegetables on the side, served with a hearty sauce. For the price they're charging, you'd be right to expect more. That's not to say the dish wasn't good, just that it was too low on the cheese, and needed to be priced accordingly.
Sunrise: This is a drink that primarily consisted of orange, pineapple and grenadine syrup. As much as you couldnt taste the grenadine, that is not to take away from the rest of the drink, and it was a welcome refreshment from the heat of the day.
Kiss on the lips: Strawberry, lemon, mint and honey. These were the flavors that were meant to be present, however the drink had the overwhelming flavor of mint lime soda, and didnt really work for the price they charged. It tasted more like a good mixer than it did anything else, and we suggest looking elsewhere for a good drink.
Coco Mango Loco: Imagine a thick shake that primarily consisted of tender coconut and mango, and you've got yourself the best mocktail I've ever had. Yes I may be a sucker for coconut, but that doesnt take away anything from this drink which is an absolute recommend for anyone going to this cafe, especially if you love the same flavors. Absolute recommendation.
We'd also like to appreciate the service by our waiter Mr. Anand, who couldn't have been more helpful with his suggestions if he tried. All in all, this is one of my favorite cafes in the whole city, and it would be remiss if I didn't tell you to go here. When you get the chance, absolutely try it out...
Read moreIn the past few months Summer Town had become me and my wife's favorite cafe in Kochi. This was one of the places we recommend to each of our friends and family. We dine there probably twice a month. Our usual order is a tenderloin beef steak (well done) and the pork ribs. While my wife has raved about the place in her Google reviews, I want to express my disappointment here. Why am I putting down my opinion here? Because no one cared about it while we were there.
We ordered well done steak and we got medium done. Now I am a steak person and I've had steak from everywhere around in Kochi and this was medium done. I've also had steak everytime I've gone to summer town before and well done steak was always perfectly done. We did mention about this and our waiter replied that the steak served was well done. We let it go thinking it can't always be perfect. Also we've not had a bad experience before. The mash in the steak was sour and had gone bad. I appreciate that they accepted it and changed it for us.
When the pork ribs was served,, we tasted something off. It was not the usual taste. It tasted like it had gone bad. But the second piece when we tasted was just alright. We did not raise it thinking could be because there was a lot of fat. But the next piece had gone really bad to which we reported again to our waiter to check and he didn't come back with an answer. We were not rude, we were very respectful as we loved this place and we come here often.
We couldn't complete our meal as the beef was too chewy for us (we did eat s whole piece but didn't want to forecefully have something we disliked). We did leave the rest of the pork also uneaten .
We had ordered a creme brulee another usual order of ours, we cancelled it and paid the whole bill.
Nobody asked us if anything was wrong, nobody gave us the usual feedback form, nobody bothered to check the uneaten food and why we didn't finish it off.
Sad that this was the last time we visit one of our favorite Cafe in Kochi. We were do...
Read more🌟 Summer Town Resto Cafe ~ A Hidden Gem in Panampilly Nagar!
I had the pleasure of dining at Summer Town Resto Cafe recently, and I must say, what an unexpectedly delightful experience! Tucked away in Panampilly Nagar, this spot truly stands out for its hospitality and heart.
Right from the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Pramod, whose genuine smile and courteous manner set the tone for the evening. He personally took care of my order, ensuring everything was just right. Anand, another friendly team member, was attentive and respectful, curious about my visit, yet never intrusive. Their service really made me feel at home.
I started with their Nutty Mushroom Velouté Almond Soup, a creamy, comforting bowl full of rich mushroom flavor, subtly elevated by almond. Every spoonful was delicious.
For the main course, I went for the Short Ribs. The meat was tender, cooked to perfection, and beautifully glazed. The dish came with mashed potato, pickled vegetables, and a flavorful sauce on the side. The attention to detail and balance of flavors showed how much care and love goes into their food.
Honestly, I wish I had discovered this place earlier, it would’ve saved me the diesel, energy, and time spent driving elsewhere for good brisket or ribs! While the preparation here is unique, it’s done with so much passion that it leaves a lasting impression.
💬 If you’re in Kochi and looking for a spot with great food and equally great service, I highly recommend Summer...
