Edited update : Visited them again today, this being our 3rd visit over the past few months.

Ordered a few things over the phone and the younger of the 2 brothers Kuriachan informed me of a few new additions to their menu, viz., fruit tart, white chocolate cheese cake, almond flour cake with 63% dark chocolate, chocolate tart, 70% dark chocolate mousse and muffins, along with their existing items.

The white chocolate cheese cake was really good, really really good. We were a group of 8 and we had a couple of pieces, a couple of truffle cake in 55% and 70% dark chocolate (70% being the better pick), chocolate babka & burnt basque cheesecake.

What sets them apart is the customer service, the attitude to listen, to actively engage and learn from customer feedback and take criticisms positively.

Thank you Kuriachan, Maria and Ousepachan for your exemplary hospitality.

Original Review : April 2024

Tucked away a little deep inside panampally nagar is this small café run by 2 brothers who are originally chocolatiers with their own chocolate manufacturing facility in thodupuzha.

This establishment is however quite new, they have a variety of their chocolates, from mild milk chocolates to mind numbing 99% cacao, truffle cakes, truffle cake with peanut butter, burnt basque cheese cake, flavored chocolates, croissants, brownies, cookies, and my favorite Babka bread.

The croissants can be had plain (really really good, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside nicely layered) and also with a topping of 55 or 63 or 70% dark chocolate drizzle. We tried the 70% which was slightly bitter, but not off putting. I'm quite used to 70%, this however seemed a tad more bitter. Only comment here would be that the quantity of chocolate filling inside the croissant is excessive and it kinda kills the croissants flakiness, this filling inside could easily be reduced by a good 50% and it would still be rich and luscious.

Then we tried the burnt basque cheese cake with 63% dark chocolate drizzle, the cheese cake was absolutely phenomenal so much so that I ordered one slice as take away. You can have the cheese cake plain as well, but being chocolate specialists they recommend chocolate on everything. My wife liked the chocolate topping, but if I were to have it again, I'd have it plain, it's really good. The chocolate drizzle topping is a nice touch, but it is superflous on the basque cheese cake. Very light cheesecake, not as sour as one would expect like a New York baked cheese cake, one can easily have an entire slice and feel only half the guilt.

Then we had the chocolate babka, the only twist to the authentic babka being addition of hazelnut paste to chocolate. Babka is the best we have had here in kerala, although babka is quite the rarity here. Babka was very soft, could feel the enriched brioche dough, the choco-hazelnut filling wasn't dry either. Nicely done.

All in all I paid INR 1,530/- which is not too bad for the quality of products and services provided.

Plain croissant- INR 150/- Burnt basque cheese cake with 63% chocolate drizzle - INR 300/- Croissant with 70% dark chocolate filling - INR 300/- (this felt expensive) 70% dark chocolate brownie - INR 150/- Chocolate babka - INR 300/-

They also have a menu for coffee and it seemed like the hostess/owner was making coffee using french press, filter coffee amongst other brewing methods.

Place has great potential. We were served by what seemed to be one of the owner brothers who did quite a good job, but he seemed a little anxious although we were forthcoming.

They have 4 tables for now with about 2 seats per table which was fully occupied as we sat down on a Friday evening. Parking may seem like an issue, 2 cars can park parallel to the store and there are also adjacent curb side...

Rakkaudella The Chocolate Artisans in Kochi is a delightful café that leaves a lasting impression. Located in the heart of the city, this café is a haven for those who appreciate both a serene atmosphere and exceptional food. The moment you step inside, the stunning ambiance envelops you—tastefully designed with warm lighting, comfortable seating, and a charming décor that exudes an air of tranquility.

The café is calm and quiet, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed coffee break or a peaceful afternoon of indulgence. The service is impeccable, with staff who are not only attentive but also genuinely passionate about the culinary experience they offer.

The highlight of our visit was the food. We savored their burnt Basque cheesecake, a delicacy that was perfectly creamy with a slightly caramelized top, offering a beautiful contrast in flavors. Their chocolate croissant was equally impressive, with layers of buttery pastry enveloping rich, decadent chocolate. Each bite was a testament to the café's commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

Rakkaudella is not just a café but a sanctuary for chocolate lovers and food enthusiasts alike. Whether you're looking for a quiet corner to unwind or a place to treat yourself to some of the finest desserts in Kochi, Rakkaudella The Chocolate Artisans delivers an experience that is both satisfying...

Food: At Rakkaudella, chocolate lovers rejoice in a heavenly experience. Their dark chocolate reigns supreme, melting luxuriously in the warmth of your hand, showcasing unparalleled quality. Fans of dark chocolate will find solace in their delectable dark chocolate bars, while the 80% dark variant offers an intense flavor burst. Hot chocolate (80% ) is really great experience

Don't miss out on their burnt Basque cheesecake, boasting a remarkable texture and a subtle cheese aftertaste. Just remember, skip the chocolate topping to fully appreciate its delicate flavors. However, the brownie may disappoint, resembling more of a fudge than the classic brownie texture.

Ambience: Rakkaudella's chic white-themed ambiance exudes sophistication, creating a premium dining atmosphere. Unfortunately, the presence of a few flies mars an otherwise elegant setting.

Customer Service: The Rakkaudella team goes the extra mile, providing guests with an engaging tour of cocoa cultivation and chocolate making. Their expert recommendations ensure that each visitor finds their perfect chocolate match, enhancing the dining experience with...
