Badshah bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Kolkata

To The Owner of Badshah Bar & Restaurant (Lindsay Street, Kolkata)

On 8th Sept 2021 at around 6.30pm we had gone to Badshah Restaurant (Lindsay Street, Kolkata). We are frequent visitors of this restaurant and visit the restaurant most of the time we go to New Market. On entering the restaurant we came to know that all “Roll” items are not served inside the Restaurant and only “Badshahi Rolls” are served inside the Restaurant (which costs Rs. 125/- each). We didn’t mind much and we ordered for 2 Chicken Badshahi Rolls. The rolls were served to us after 10 minutes and when we started consuming the rolls, to our utter surprise we came to understand that the Rolls were not at all warm, rather it was cold and stale. The Chicken, egg and fried onions inside the Roll was absolutely cold and the Paratha too was cold. We called the waiter and asked him why the Rolls were served to us cold and why was it not warm? He did not have a proper answer to our question. We asked the manager to come and explain why such cold food has been served to us. The manager (Mr. Debasish) was initially reluctant to attend us and when he ultimately turned up he tried to explain that they had prepared the Rolls immediately and had served to us. But we understood that they were lying as a Roll which is cooked just 2 minutes back cannot be such Cold and Stale. We even showed the waiters how cold the Rolls were but they were adament and stubbort and kept saying that they have not served cold food.

Inspite of bad food being served to us, we paid the bills and left the restaurant. The bill was of Rs. 294/- (just for 2 Rolls and 1 Cold Drink)

We were cheated about the quality of the food as the Rolls wee served to us absulutely cold and no recourse was taken by the Manager present there and he kept on arguing that the Roll cannot be cold.

We shall not take this matter lightly, and if no recourse is provided to us within the next 3 days we shall escalate matters to the concerned authorities.

Me and a friend met at new market to grab a drink and have some decent food as we had a lot to catch up about. After searching zomato i came accross this place and thought of giving it a try. It has 2 floors both air condioned. The bar was at the top floor. The top floor is pretty dark with some coloured lights hanging over the tables. I kind of liked it as because you get to see the food and ur table mates quite comfortably and also do not get distracted by the fellow foodies at the other tables. We grabbed beers which was provided to us in about 5mins. Then we ordered prawn and chicken friedrice and teamed them up with taiwan chicken which was their speciality in the menu. The fried rice was average with good quantity. I really like the chicken dish. The chicken was tossed in some sauce which was really tasty. This dish is bit on the sweeter side but really full of flavours. The staffs were very helpful and polite. The only problem I faced was during the payment. As I was paying by card I was asked to go to the payment counter in the top floor but the machine did not work. Then again I was asked to go all the way downstairs for the payment and yet again that machine did not work there either. Luckily I had enough cash with me for the payment. Overall a good experience. Maybe will visit again to try some...

May b my review will not effect them anyway coz they hardly bother that...located in prime location....so they took customer for granted....staffs behaviour so bad and rude....yesterday its raining heavily, so for lunch as its near, we visited there and ordered murg kathi tikka masala with few other things ...we finished meal....when bill was provided it was written chicken tikka masala with 100/- more price.

When they were asked about that , the staff biswajit and another guy behaved very rudely saying me liar and that 2staffs came together , badly shouted at me while my husband gone for a handwash.

Shame on them... So bad behavior with a lady...when we paid the bill infront of manager one of the guy came tapped table like that he will slap my husband if getting a chance and talked very badly infront of the Manager....

I read few reviews now , bad behavior happened with many....but they will not change a bit....shame on them...

And if we don't talk about the ambience it would be nice, its a cave..... Claustrophobic 🥴..chairs are torn..dirty glass in wall..such a local looking restaurant...far better restaurants are there with this price....but again they won't bother, ..its prime location...
