During a recent dinner outing at Khalsa Restaurant in Dharmatala, we tried a variety of dishes that showcased the restaurant’s strengths in North Indian cuisine. Here's an honest take on our experience: Food: 4/5 We ordered Half Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Reshmi Kabab, Butter Naan, Chicken Reshmi Butter Masala, and Custard for dessert. The food was genuinely delicious — the Chicken Reshmi Butter Masala was rich, creamy, and full of flavor, pairing excellently with the soft, warm butter naans. The Chicken Reshmi Kabab was tender and well-marinated, offering a delightful melt-in-the-mouth texture. The Chicken Tandoori, although flavorful and nicely grilled, came heavily coated with artificial food coloring, which took away from its natural appeal. This could be a point of improvement for the kitchen. The custard was a simple but sweet ending to the meal — chilled, light, and satisfying. Ambience: 2.5/5 The ambience was quite underwhelming. The restaurant has a basic, no-frills setup with minimal attention to décor or atmosphere. It’s more suited for casual dining than a relaxed or aesthetic experience. If you’re not particular about the environment and are primarily there for the food, this may not be a dealbreaker. Pricing: 4.5/5 One of the best aspects of Khalsa Restaurant is its reasonable pricing. Given the quality and portion sizes, the meal offered great value for money. It’s a solid choice for budget-conscious diners who want good food without burning a hole in their wallet. Overall Rating: 3.8/5 Final Verdict: If you’re in Dharmatala and craving tasty North Indian food without worrying much about ambience, Khalsa Restaurant is worth a visit. Just be mindful of the use of food coloring in some dishes. Great taste and pocket-friendly prices make it a dependable choice for casual meals.

Review of Khalsa Restaurant, Kolkata (2025) Location: Khalsa Restaurant is conveniently situated at No.4/C, Madge Ln, beside Globe Mall, Fire Brigade Head Quarter, New Market Area, Dharmatala, Taltala, Kolkata, West Bengal 700016. This prime location makes it easily accessible for both locals and tourists. Ambiance: The restaurant offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, ideal for casual dining. The decor reflects a blend of traditional and modern elements, creating a warm environment for guests. Food Quality: Based on recent reviews, Khalsa Restaurant has received mixed feedback regarding its food. While some patrons have praised specific dishes, such as the mix vegetable dish, others have expressed dissatisfaction, citing issues with spiciness and overall taste. The restaurant has a rating of 3.8/5 based on 543 customer reviews, indicating a decent level of customer satisfaction but also highlighting areas for improvement. Service: The service at Khalsa Restaurant has been noted as generally good, with many customers appreciating the helpfulness of the staff. However, there are instances where orders did not meet specific requests, such as spice levels, which could be a point of concern for future diners. Overall Experience: Khalsa Restaurant presents a mixed bag of experiences. While it has its strengths in location and some menu items, the inconsistency in food quality and service could deter some customers. It is recommended for those looking for a casual dining experience but with the caveat to communicate preferences clearly to avoid any issues. Rating: Overall, I would rate Khalsa Restaurant 3.5/5. It has potential, but improvements in food consistency and service could elevate the dining experience significantly.

Took a chicken tikka butter masala, a masala kulcha, small lassi and a yum honey paratha. I went through the mix reviews and comments before going there to eat and had a mix experience as well. The place isnt a proper restaurant but a more like a local eaterie where you'd want to hangout with friends and some tea that they apparently are famous for. I found the masala kulcha decent, the honey paratha out of the world maybe because I wasnt expecting such a taste but coming down to the chicken tikka masala, idk if it was made to order or they were out of tikkas or something but the tikkas were not grilled properly felt like they made it in haste, all squishy and raw, the gravy and the chicken didn't go well with each other. The lassi was well just a lassi. But I noticed that the reception man and the workers were very keen on doing things fast, that included hasting you to place an order, snatching the menu away and handing you the bill as soon as you are done. Like they'd be waiting for you to finish your food and leave even though there were a lot many tables empty. Overall the prices arent cheap at all but not costly too looking at the area they are serving in.
