Jai Shri Krishna! Sorry, but pathetic food quality we experienced here. Seems they don’t have control over the food quality as it is gradually becoming poor & only poor. 3-4 years back when they were running this restaurant at old area that time food quality was better but now it is bad. Seems they changed their earlier chef.
Yesterday (04.04.21), me & my family was visited there with lots of good things in mind as after renovation, this was our first visit. First We ordered two Chinese items, crispy chilly baby corn & spring roll, trust the quality & preparation of both the items were too bad. In fact, spring roll was deep fried in such a way that it was completely burned & full of oil. when we complained it to the waiter, there is no action from his side, even we didn’t see any restaurant manager there to show any gesture towards our issue. In main course, we have ordered Paneer tikka masala & corn n cheese kofta, both items taste was also not good, even it was very oily food. Masala Kulcha was also having poor preparation. Not at all good food like any other restaurant in Kolkata which served without onion & garlic food (in fact Jain food). After this tasteless food, our total bill was around ₹2000/-, here everyone can understand that how costly this restaurant is. I strongly recommend to everyone not to visit this restaurant as after paying such a huge amount, we didn’t satisfy & it was complete mood-off for me & my family...
Finally we thought let us assume that we have donated ₹2000 in the name of Lord Shri Krishna, under his name these people are completely looting (sorry but I’m using this word here) the customers who are visiting this restaurant, with lot of good things in their mind.
One more thing, which is also important to mention that they served the food n drinking water in bronze utensils which looks antique but honestly it is not properly clean at all. In fact we didn’t use their glasses to drink the water. Even we saw at some table they served use-n-through glasses for drink the water, which means they themselves not confident on their cleanliness of utensils & other things also.
Definitely we’ll not visit this restaurant at all...

It's been long in love with this place and the food... Its a total vegetarian restaurant. And the first thing they say as soon as you enter the restaurant is "Hare Krishna" ♥️ ... The ambience is very nice, calm with amazing old architecture.
If you are into vegetarian food, this is the place to be.
It is very rare to find a pure veg restaurant with such a good taste at Kolkata. The city is famous for eating joints and almost all serves Non-vegetarian food.
GOVINDA IS ONE OF THE FEW WHO SERVES ONLY VEGETARIAN FOOD.
Since they do not use onions and garlic, they are 100% pure veg. However, that is not the USP of this place. The speciality lies in the fact that the cooking is great, the ingredients superb. Even though this food-joint is not adjacent to the temple. It's at Gurusaday road, yet they offer professional hospitality, and even if you are not religious-minded, you still can enjoy a very good meal knowing that you are putting yourself in safe hands.
We started with the soya kababs and the chinese bhel which were both excellent. So were the Veg Pulao, Paneer tandoori, Naan, Paneer Butter Masala. Desserts are available from the counter just outside.
All the items were very good.
Since visit to this place is after a gap of 5 long years for me, I suppose they had changed the menu or tweaked it which is a little set back because they have removed some of their best dishes. "THEIR PAPAD CHURI WAS REALLY NICE AS THEY SMOKED IT WITH COAL. I WOULD REALLY SUGGEST THE MANAGEMENT TO GET THE OLD MENU BACK."
Special attraction is the TAWA Paneer, which I didn't forgot to order almost all my visits 😉. The taste and hygiene is very good. Food quality is really amazing. the only glitch is the staff, who is a bit conservative in smiling...🫠
Dear Readers, It gives the perfect reflection of Indian culture presented in the way best and food is also awesome.
Be rest assured its worth the price.

Read moreWith a vegan guest in our team and a holiday afternoon, the obvious choice for lunch was Govindas.
Govindas is a chain of restaurant run by ISKCON and we opted for the one on Gurusaday road, just opposite to Mainland China.
To avoid being in queue we reached before 1 PM.
Ambience is Lord Krishna themed with walls adorned with beautiful paintings and light yellow lighting. The ceiling is adorned with beautiful chandeliers.
We ordered Special thali and other items like Paneer Tikka masala, mixed veg, Kashmiri aloo dum, butter nan, masala kulcha, mocktails etc. Quantity is enough to share, so apply your judgement before ordering to avoid wastage. Menu also contains jazzed up dish names, so consult the staffs before you experiment. Chinese and South Indian dishes are also available. Gravies are a bit creamy with powdered cashew nuts but delicious.
All items are saatvik and do not contain onion/garlic.
Be patient as you order and wait for your food as I noticed that manpower is a bit limited.
As you come out of the restaurant, there is a counter from where you can buy pooja items.
Before you come out of the campus, there is sweet shop just beside the gate. Ask for the delivery in the decorated handis which look wonderful.
Overall, a deafault choice for a Veg lunch with...
