Park Street is like the market of Bar and Restaurants. Where just after 2 steps you get Bar cum Restaurants from affordable to luxury. Now should you step in to One Step Up?
Drinks costs more than twice over here for no reason. By reason I mean it's one of the most boring bar cum restaurant of Park Street. The ambiance and lights are too dull. Tables and sittings are cozy.
We took Bira Pint White MRP of Rs. 110 and we paid Rs. 240 for that, Carlsberg MRP Rs.160 they charged it Rs.300 & Bacardi White Rum 60ml costs Rs.265. We took 6 beers and 1 hard drink for 3 people and they served only one small bowl of Parle Monaco Cheeslings that comes Rs.50 for a Jar. When we asked the waiter to serve peanuts or something else with the drinks, they simply said they don't have anything else except that.
I mean if you don't have anything else why you people have opened a bar? Open a Omlette shop roadside. I asked the waiter to serve the same Cheeslings for everyone separately, then also they were like, slow, will do and finally served after so many hesitation when we had already finished half of the drinks. They're making so much of profit by charging more than double for the drinks then why so stinginess?
Now coming to the food, actually we were unable to order food here. We wanted to order but just after ordering the drinks, the waiter snatched the menu card from my hand like I will eat it. I tried to ask for the menu card but their attitude towards us was so annoying it felt better not to order anything.
Even at evening time on weekdays when the restaurant was more than empty, they were in so hurry to drove us away from the restaurant to make table for new people.
Their body language was asking us to leave the table again and again. It was saying drink fast and get lost from here. It showed how trained they were to not give much time to a group keeping a table reserved for long.
At the end of the day I’ve no idea why we paid Rs.1885 as bill simply for few drinks. Neither they’ve good service nor very good ambiance to enjoy, then why pay that much? The name of this place may be One Step Up but the overall experience you get here is definitely...
Read moreI visited for lunch on 10th January. A number of issues made me decide never to return to an old spot I have visited since my college days:
The Food: We ordered the herb fried chicken. Unlike previously, no fries were provided alongside. Next, for mains, we got the Angel on Horseback. Again, unlike the last few times when the dish came with roasted potatoes and a side of vegetables, it was just the sausage rice with bacon. The portions were extremely small while the price had been increased. The Service: The service was abysmal, to say the least. I had informed the staff while ordering the mains that I was about to have a meeting at 2:30, and requested them specifically to not interrupt us during this time. We informed that should we require anything, we would ask them. During my meeting, three different servers interrupted us every 5-10 minutes while I was on my call. The third time, I again requested them to not barge in and we would call them if required. However, 10 minutes later, yet another server came in and loudly started questioning us on whether we required anything. I had to disconnect from my call and tell him that this was simply not acceptable - I had time and again asked them not to attend at our table unless we called for them for the duration of our meeting. Mind you, we still had food and drinks on the table, so there was no reason to keep asking us. The server claimed not to know about our request, but I had to remind them that we had already spoken about this to the bevy of servers who kept on walking in during my call. It is not my responsibility to fix communication lags among the servers. I was chagrined and intensely disappointed that the staff at OSU refused to respect instructions and boundaries. If this was an issue, they should've informed us that conducting an online meeting at our table would not be permissible, and we would have gladly left the establishment before my call.
Safe to say, I will not be returning to this sorry excuse of an eatery...
Read more#OneStepUpParkStreet was the only eatery on #Parkstreet that i never got an opportunity to visit for reasons unknown to me till last Thursday when i had an epic dinner out there and fell in love with this place during my first visit itself..
This place is certainly a #darkhorse amongst all the traditional big culinary names at Parkstreet - simple & minimalistic decor - lighting is too dim for my preference - service is better than most other eateries on that stretch but there is still room for improvement for sure.. Pricing is pretty reasonable especially if you take into account the humungous quantity of food served per portion..
Now, coming to the most important and best part of the story - #FOOD..
We were simply blown away by both the starters we tried - #DevilledCrab & #PrawnCocktail - i have had both these delicacies at multiple eateries till date but i can bet that you get the best versions of both at this particular food joint - they truly justify the name and have to managed to take both these delicacies #OneStepUp from what you get anywhere else in the city - the cheesy crabmeat or the cold cocktail sauce full of prawns (not shrimps as you get in most other places) was simply to die for - can't wait to go back and enjoy them again at the earliest opportunity.. 😍
We also had #FishSteak (bhetki) & #ChickenFaconDuChef (Chicken stuffed with Cheese) for main course and they too were a delight to our tastebuds.. It was too much of food though for two average eaters to consume.. #CaramelCustard was the usual story - a good note to finish an awesome dinner..
This place is indeed a #MUSTVISIT - give the traditional big food brands on Parkstreet a miss and drop in here if you haven't already - you won't regret a bit is all i can say.. 🙏🤝
P.S: Thank you all for being a part of our #KolkataFoodTrotters (Facebook/Instagram) family - our #2ndBirthday celebrations will be incomplete without your presence - see you all on #19thJan -...
