After seeing so much hype , i decided to give this place a try . Came on Durga Ashtami , it was a buzzing day , all the restaurants had huge queues , we genuinely hoped not to get that over here and we got lucky, we were immediately seated . We started off by ordering 2 beers , Carlsberg Smooth and Budweiser Magnum both of 650 ml as the 330 ml were not available. Those were served chilled , no complaints at all, accompanied with really crisp munchies . Without making any mistake we opted for the Chicken Ala Kiev as we were aware about its popularity and we saw each and every table surrounding us had the dish on and yes totally worth it . We were served with two piping hot chicken Ala Kiev , the butter oozed out making a delectable sauce with the mashed potatoes and peas served alongside on the plate. Following that we ordered a Chicken Steak with Grilled Vegetables, the quantity served was wholesome for 2 people. Thick Chicken steak ,cooked with onions , a slice of pineapple added just on top it , leading to that play of sweet and savoury on your tongue and lathered in a flavoursome sauce . Each and every dish was curated with perfection, we ended the feast by ordering another beer , Bira white, which I'm not a fan of , it had a synthetic taste to it . Along with the amazing dishes and drinks, the ambience stood out, it was a bit expensive but the great quality and the comfortable atmosphere make it worth it . Our bill came down to 1947/- for 2 people. •They only accept Cash and Debit/Credit card

Park Street in Kolkata is foodies' haven. You would be tempted to try all the restaurants and the array of food that they serve. One such restaurant we always wanted to try was Olypub for the steaks. We ordered - Beef Steak, Chicken Ala Kiev, Egg and Chips and some good ol' sweet lime soda. The steak was delicious. Hardly I've had any meat so well done. The sauteed onions on top was a tiny bit too gravyish for my liking, probably to cater to the Indian taste buds. The Chicken Ala Kiev was literally bathed in butter. Was tasty, but mind you quite heavy. The Egg and Chips was a little too pedestrian. I took my kid too, and she was absolutely overwhelmed with the strong smell of alcohol. So I would strongly recommend against taking children. The ambience is old Calcutta, the staff lazy and seemed bored. Go for their steaks is what I would say! #foodieontheloose #foodie #zomatoindia #beefsteak #chicken #chickenalakiev #olypub #foodporn #foodgasm Follow @foodie_on_the_loose Follow @foodie_on_the_loose

It's a name of disaster when you are looking for some good ambiance and service. We chose the 1st floor area which was less noisy than the ground floor. When the table was offered it was not cleaned up. We waited for 10 mins on the table with unfinished food of our predecessors and I had to reach the service person to request him to clear it of. Then staff1 came and asked for order and we ordered fish fingers and 3 whisky. After sometime staff2 came with a bottle in his hand, tumblers and a jigger. He started measuring three 60 ml of whisky and spilled 20 ml on the table. Then he went away to bring ice and complementary snack and forgot us. Somehow we found him again and he served the ice and complementary snack on request. By that time we forgot about the fish fingers when it came. I must say, the Fish finger was really very good and so was the mustard sauce(Kasundi). Then i ordered finger chips and it was all my mistake. What came over the table was dead looking soft, sauted potatoes covered in oil without any seasoning. The ketchup failed to bring life in the fingers. Finally we ordered a beef steak which was ok. Overall it was my first and last visit to olypub. But to all surprise the place of full of people mostly office goers in Park Street area and a few college students from that area. The place surely have a different charm as a regular stop for all those people. It must be a sense of attachment and bit of nostalgia having a whisky tumbler in hand for many years.

Honestly I've heard a lot about this place, but my visit was quite disappointing. We went there on 25th December. The moment we found our seat the electricity went out. Nice! They don't have any substitute for that except opening the front doors and windows, to let the minimal light come in. We sat there just like that for 10 minutes untill the power came back. Let me list out the reasons why am I never visiting this place: 1. Food is not good enough, I don't know why people keep calling it the best place for steaks. The beef steak wasn't good at all. 2. Most importantly they ask for tip both inside and outside. our bill amount was 683 and we paid 800(tips within). They still haven't said a word about paying the security guard outside. When we were coming out the security guard asked for money too, we had to pay him again there. Like what is this system? Eta tumi age bolba na? We could've paid alltogether inside or split that? Idk. Keep this in mind when you go there. 3.The tables were kept too close, no social distancing was maintained between sitting arrangements. Somebody came to talk to someone sitting just beside me on another table and kept leaning on the chair I sat, that's the space given there. 4. And nothing is "budget friendly", nothing is "pocket pinch" here. The prices are moderate, or I'd say moderately high, definitely not the 'cheapest' place for drinks I'd say. Overall, had a very bad experience with this 'iconic' place.

The place is always jam packed. Fortunately we got a table right away on a busy weekday evening. It was filled with office goers stopping by for a quick drink. The prices of the drinks are reasonable by park Street standards. The place could be cleaner, alot cleaner especially the tables. In the post COVID era cleanliness is everything. We ordered some of the popular dishes of this place besides drinks. Chicken ala Kiev : 2 smaller sized pieces are served instead of 1 big one. Minced chicken wrapped around a dallop of butter and deep fried. Personally I have had better ala Kiev. But this one was also good.(4/5) Mutton Roast: The star dish. Just amazing. That's it (5/5) Charteau Briand ( beef steak): No over the top frills. The waiter doesn't ask for the way you want the steak( rare, medium or well done). You order and they serve. The chef decides it. And they do an amazing job. The steak was medium done served with poached egg with a side of mashed potatoes. The steak blew my mind. (5/5) Chicken tikka kebab: it's as you would expect it to be.(3/5). The waiters are quick on their feet. They have to be. The place is always packed. You have to give credit to their service. I think it's best to order continental dishes here as they specialise in it. Also they don't pay much heed to presentation as is evident from the picture of the kebab. Would surely visit again for a drink or two

Worst food . LIKE, WORST. I don't know what happened to them, they used to serve decent food, but my recent visit was horrible. We ordered one roast chicken(half) and one mixed sizzler and both were eww. Roasted chicken was undercooked and it had foul odor like raw chicken, we requested to change it, and they did, brought another plate of roast chicken which wasn't undercooked but was n't good either, the sauce tasted so funny and the boiled papaya and carrots weren't helping either! Couldn't complete the full meal. Sizzler wasn't decent either . Meat pieces weren't good. Only the poached egg and the chanachur with beer were eatable. The stuff behaviour was usual, not friendly but not rude either. Overall, not worth it anymore. They really need to work with food and staffs properly. Edited: The other time I went, some 5 to 6 months back, had Chicken Ala kiev which is the house famous of Oly pub, was good.. then ordered Tandoor chicken and nuggets, those were good too. Maybe , it's in the recent days, the quality of the food went down.
