Oudh 1590 southern avenue When you enter this place you can totally feel the royal ambience. All the staff wearing black Kurtas looks really nice. The look and vibes of this place is all royal and regal. The music also matches the theme. As we entered, we were taken to our tables. On the table was a bottle of water. One of us opened the bottle and poured wate. Later we came to know that it was chargeable , and that you had to ask for regular water. That was a huge dissapointment as we felt that one should ask us whether we want regular or mineral water and then serve the respective. They just keep a bottle of mineral water on each table, which maybe mistaken by many. Now comes the part, why I am exaggerating so much about a bottle of water. The one litre water whose MRP is 20 rupees, we were charged 40 rupees for the bottle and on that taxes were charged which is absolutely hideous I feel. On asking to speak to the manager , the manager was unable to convince us as to why they were charging double the MRP and taxes on that and he just left. This was a huge dissapointment. Also , service is very slow. The southern avenue branch is huge. It has a lot of seating capacity no doubt , but then there should be enough staff also. The service was very slow. After almost 45 mins of us placing the order, they come and tell us that the yakhni biryani is not available and that they can only serve us rann biryani and keema biryani. This was again a huge dissapointment as we waited for 45 mins and then they tell us that we have only two options to order from. Rest all will take another 45 mins. This was again a huge dissapointment. Now coming to the food, we had rann biryani, keema biryani, galawti kebab , and chicken irani. The rann biryani was okayish. Priced at 395 rupees, the quantity is enough for two people. Taste wise also the biryani was pretty good , dipped in ghee and shredded pieces of chicken it was good. The galawti kebab was very good , the pieces truly melted in my mouth . The keema biryani was again enough for two people. The biryanis are served in earthern clay pots. The chicken irani had two pieces, priced at 240 rupees, I felt that it was very overpriced. All in all, the Ambience and vibes are excellent, the food is good, a little expensive, but the service really...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at Oudh 1590 in Debopriya Park, Kolkata, was regrettably subpar, marked by a series of disappointments that overshadowed any potential positive aspects.
To begin with, the culinary letdown was evident in the overcooked and stale chicken dish I ordered. The lack of freshness and flavor in the chicken was particularly disheartening, as it failed to meet the expectations one would have at a restaurant of this caliber. The dish left much to be desired, and it was a clear indication of a lapse in the kitchen's quality control.
Adding to the culinary disappointment was the cold chicken biryani. Biryani, known for its aromatic flavors and perfectly cooked meat, fell short of expectations. The dish lacked the warmth and richness one anticipates, further contributing to the overall underwhelming gastronomic experience.
Unfortunately, the dissatisfaction extended beyond the plate to the service provided by the restaurant. The staff seemed indifferent and inattentive, contributing to a sense of frustration during the entire dining experience. Requests for assistance were met with delayed responses, and overall, the service left a lot to be desired.
As if the culinary and service disappointments weren't enough, the overpricing of a Kinley water bottle added a final blow to the overall experience. Paying an exorbitant amount for a basic necessity like water only added insult to injury, reflecting poorly on the establishment's commitment to customer satisfaction.
In conclusion, my visit to Oudh 1590 at Debopriya Park was marred by overcooked, stale dishes, cold biryani, lackluster service, and an unwarranted high cost for basic amenities. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of the expectations one would have for a dining establishment of...
Read moreI visited this restaurant on Durga Shashti, 2025, for dinner with my fiancé. During Durga Puja, restaurants are typically packed with long lines, but the way this place managed the crowd was remarkable. They set up a beautifully decorated pandal outside with ample lighting, comfortable chairs, and ceiling fans, ensuring a pleasant wait for those in line after a day of pandal hopping. They maintained a first-come, first-served system by recording names and assigning numbers to each group. Despite a 30-minute wait due to the queue, the thoughtful arrangements made it feel effortless.
Inside, the service was exceptionally fast and efficient. The waitstaff responded promptly, and the food quality was outstanding, with no compromise despite the festive rush—unlike many other well-known restaurants that struggle during such busy times. The time between placing an order and receiving the food was impressively short, comparable to a regular day. Additionally, they set up separate counters outside for online orders and takeaways, ensuring smooth operations without any mix-ups.
I was thoroughly impressed by their food, service, and crowd management during the festive season. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant, especially during Durga Puja.
On a side note, it was disappointing to hear that a customer had damaged the tap water dispenser in the washroom. Such reckless behavior is unacceptable and makes it harder for restaurants to maintain their excellent service. We, as customers, must cooperate to support...
