Extremely Disappointing Experience at Achija Veg Restaurant, Lower Parel
I visited Achija Veg Restaurant in Lower Parel after finishing a long 13-hour shift, looking forward to a peaceful meal. Unfortunately, my experience turned out to be extremely disappointing and uncomfortable.
We were first seated at a corner table, and then, without any clear reason, the staff asked us to shift to another table. We agreed politely, trying to stay cooperative. However, just a few minutes later, while I was about to take my first bite of food, one of the servers clearing another table behind me accidentally dropped a bowl of curry — directly on my legs and clothes.
Accidents can happen, but what made the situation worse was the staff’s reaction. Neither the server nor the manager offered a proper apology. The manager’s attitude was particularly rude and indifferent, showing no sense of responsibility or concern for what had just happened.
When I went to wash up, I found out there was no separate ladies’ washroom, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. Despite being visibly upset, no one from the restaurant made any effort to assist, offer tissues, or even a glass of water.
The restaurant was extremely crowded and poorly managed, with staff running around without coordination. It felt chaotic rather than welcoming.
After such an unpleasant incident and unprofessional behavior from the team, we had no choice but to leave immediately without finishing our meal.
Overall, I expected much better service, hygiene, and basic courtesy from a restaurant of this name. I truly hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving both their staff training and overall...
Read moreTL;DR Version - Value for money vegetarian family restaurant that serves Indian version of all cuisines. The portion size is quite big and the food is tasty. Don't expect a fancy experience and you'll be fine. The Veg Seekh Kebab and Pahadi Paneer Tikka were the standout dishes for me.
Food - They served us a couple of complimentary roasted papads at the beginning. We ordered the Pahadi Paneer Tikka and Veg Seekh Kebab in the starters and both were delicious. The Paneer was succulent and well grilled in the Tandoor. The kebabs were also crumbly soft and their texture was also great. The accompanying green chutney was absolutely fantastic and we almost finished the full bowl that was served. In the main course we had the Dal Tadka, Broccoli Kofta with the Garlic Naan, Laccha Paratha and Tandoori Roti. Wouldn't recommend the Kofta as it had excess binding agent which made it difficult to break.
Service - Took a bit of time to get us the smaller asks like extra green chillies, onions etc but otherwise was good. Minimal fuss and efficient.
Ambience - They've tried to give it up a premium feel with the lighting and the seats. The artificial flowers do bring the level a bit down though. But overall still a nice place especially given the...
Read more2 star rating cuz the staff didn't manage the crowd well. We got a seat and since then someone or the other came at our seat to peep into our plates. Those so called elites well educated ones didn't have basic manners to manage their own kids. The kids outside who were waiting with their parents came and sat down besides us. Peeping into our plate it was soo embarrassing. Couldn't eat properly. They let the waiting crowd inside the restaurant and it felt like a "bhandara". Ppl legit looking at our plates so that they can grab the seat?? I mean seriously is that y u hv specific staff to look after the crowd? The parents didn't even hold their kids rather they also kept looking at us eat
I took my husband for a date and this was such an horrible experience. Food was no doubt good. But if you can't manage thr crowd then take limited seats. We pay to eat at leisure not to sit in a Bhandara line where ppl and their kids are salivating looking at the food on table and some unknown kid coming and putting their heads on our table. How can someone eat in such case.? Pls keep the ppl who are waiting outside the eating premises atleast no one wants their food to be stared at or the kids looking at the food like there...
