Craving a taste of Burmese cuisine?Head to Burma Burma, India's only restaurant for Burmese cuisine, to celebrate the Thingyan Festival (Burmese New Year) with a limited-edition menu available from April 11th to May 19th, 2024.
The Vibe: Burma Burma recreates the spirit of the Thingyan Festival, known as the Water Festival, with a menu inspired by their team's travels to Burma. Think vibrant flavors, fresh ingredients, and a focus on community dining.
What I Tried: The Village Set: This is the star of the show! Perfect for two, it's a beautiful array of traditional Burmese dishes served on a cane basket. We devoured the Sweet Lime & Shallot Salad (a refreshing mix of sweet, tangy, and spicy), the Assorted Fries Platter (a fun selection of fritters and snacks), the flavorful Peppery Tofu & Onion Stir Fry (served with flaky Palata), the hearty Coconut Rice and Pumpkin & Broad Bean Curry, and a unique Roselle & Mushroom Stir Fry. We ended on a sweet note with the Banana Sanwin Makin (a Burmese semolina cake) and a complimentary serving of Mont Lone Yay Paw (a Thingyan sweet).
Pro Tip: You can also order these dishes as individual small plates.
Drinks: Burma Burma offers a selection of special beverages to complement the menu. I loved the Twilight, a tropical blend of mango, coconut, and fizz, and the Musk, a refreshing mix of muskmelon, honey, and lavender tea.
Must-Try: The Village Set - a delightful exploration of Burmese flavors. Musk - the perfect drink to beat the heat.

We started with their signature samosa soup and it was one of a kind soup! Definitely a must try. Raw mango salad is a perfect thing to munch until appetisers are on table. We tried WA potato, hummus and couple of other appetisers. Apt quantity and top notch quality, absolutely worth it.
Their beverage menu is upgraded with great new options in bubble tea, varieties of kombucha on tap and other vegan options too! Bubble tea was indeed refreshing!

Burma Burma promises an immersive Burmese experience, but sadly, the charm ends with the decor. The ambiance is undeniably well-crafted, with intricate details that transport you to Myanmar—warm lighting, traditional artwork, and wooden elements that set high expectations for what’s to come. However, the moment the food arrives, the illusion falls apart.
The dishes were unimaginative and completely lacked the depth of flavor one would expect from Burmese cuisine. The much-hyped Khow Suey was nothing more than an average coconut curry with no complexity, and the tea leaf salad—one of their signature offerings—felt more like a dull, overpriced mix of greens with barely any distinct flavors. Even the street food-inspired dishes, which should have been bold and exciting, tasted like watered-down versions of what they should be.
To make matters worse, the service was sluggish. It took ages for the food to arrive, and when it finally did, it was lukewarm at best. The portions were small, the flavors were muted, and the entire meal felt like a half-hearted attempt at authenticity rather than a true homage to Burmese cuisine.
Overall, Burma Burma is a textbook example of a restaurant that banks on aesthetics and marketing but completely misses the mark where it truly matters—the food. If you’re looking for a meal that satisfies both the palate and the experience, this isn’t it. Definitely not worth the hype or the...
