Terrible and supremely disappointing experience at a place that is recently making some of the coveted best restaurant lists but is severely ill equipped to handle the service that is needed to maintain this kind of a title. We had booked table for 4 at 8pm via Zomato to celebrate a friend’s landmark birthday. At 9.15pm barely an hour into our meal, we are approached by our server asking for last orders for food. Bewildered we asked why, he mentioned this table is only available till 10pm - a fact that was neither mentioned on Zomato or by the management when we were seated. The management tried to play coy saying it’s mentioned on Zomato about 2-hour slots - a clear lie as can be seen in attached screenshot. They kept asking by when we would be done - big red flag when it comes to hospitality sector. The restaurant overbooks and ushers people in promising them tables and then keeps rushing the guests who are trying to eat in peace. The management is terrible and clearly in over their heads to manage their crowd and in a bid to maximise profits they overbook and then keep rushing people. People are literally jostling for space at the bar and playing musical chairs for tables. If this is the kind of service that is being provided at a fine dining establishment with steep prices with such appalling service, steer clear of such places as Bombay has innumerable better places that are not only better in terms of food but also know what actual hospitality is about rather than these new places who have clearly lost their head and the plot with the attention. We left without ordering main course and with our dinner and our friend’s birthday ruined. We even complained to the restaurant manager - who claimed he is unaware of the issue - another big red flag as being a manager it is his job responsibility to know what is going on in the floor. 0/10 for service. Negative points for the terrible way they handled the situation. Definitely not going there again and absolutely do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. In terms of the food (or whatever we could have before we had to leave because we were constantly being hounded to give up the table)- we had butter garlic prawns, miso caramel chicken and dragon roll sushi. Prawns and chicken was good but the sushi was terrible - with a whole lot of beetroot fried on top and overpowering the flavour - all we could taste was the beet and the rice and no flavour of the prawn tempura. So, if you want to enjoy a good meal, steer clear of this new fangled place that’s only good in terms of decor, but gravely disappoints when it comes to things that matter - food and service.

Our recent dinner experience at Gigi Bombay in Bandra was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant, we were enveloped in an atmosphere that exuded elegance and sophistication, setting the stage for a memorable evening. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and promptly escorted to our table, where the ambiance immediately captured our attention. The combination of chic decor and subtle lighting created an inviting space that elevated our dining experience to new heights. As for the culinary journey that followed, it was nothing short of extraordinary. Our party of 10 indulged in a feast fit for royalty, sampling a variety of dishes that showcased the culinary prowess of the Gigi Bombay kitchen. The Summer Berry Salad was a refreshing start to our meal, bursting with vibrant flavors and crisp textures. The Enoki Inari Maki Sushi, ordered twice because it was simply that good, delighted our taste buds with its exquisite presentation and delicate balance of flavors. The Classic Margherita Pizza was a crowd-pleaser, featuring a perfectly thin crust topped with the freshest ingredients, while the Gigi Signature Tiramisu left us craving for more with its decadent layers of rich coffee-infused goodness. We also had the pleasure of indulging in the Gigi Spicy Vodka Pasta, a tantalizing dish that packed a flavorful punch, and the Tokyo Fries, which offered a delightful twist on a classic favorite. Special mention must be made of the attentive staff who went above and beyond to accommodate our requests, including crafting a customized dish of Veggie Nachos that exceeded all expectations. To complement our meal, we enjoyed a selection of non-alcoholic beverages, including the refreshing Aqua Fresca and the zesty Osaka Mule, which perfectly complemented the flavors of our meal. In summary, our experience at Gigi Bombay was nothing short of extraordinary. From the impeccable ambiance to the delectable cuisine and attentive service, every aspect exceeded our expectations. We look forward to returning to Gigi Bombay for another unforgettable dining experience in the near future.

Though the menu includes dishes that are a Euro-Japanese fusion, like a salmon and tuna cannelloni and a ramen lasagna, the dishes that shine are those that have more subtle elements of both cuisines. When we order the Japanese teriyaki pizza, I’m expecting a light and delicate thin crust. Instead, I’m greeted with a cheesy, juicy, indulgent pie topped with strips of nori, perfectly sweet-savoury teriyaki glazed chicken and roasted leeks (a combination that reminds me of Japanese yakitori, where pieces of chicken thigh are alternated with leeks and grilled over a charcoal fire). It’s a pizza meant for cheese pulls, bursting flavour and last-slice-quarrels. The Aviator salad is chef Noronha’s take on a Caesar salad, with parmesan crisps, a bright pink beetroot pickled egg and a thick dressing made with tofu instead of mayo—elements she added because she has never been a fan of the classic Caesar. The sushi—though mellow, flavourful and unencumbered by excesses of mayo—is up against some seriously tough competition, with some of the best sushi spots in the city just a drive away in Khar. The Gigi spicy vodka pasta—inspired by the viral pasta recipe Gigi Hadid shared on Instagram during the pandemic—is a fun, crowd-pleasing pasta with a kick from habanero chilli flakes, as are the other pastas and flatbreads on the menu. The dish that truly stood out, however, was the sophisticated salmon and tuna crudo—a light and easy appetiser served on a bed of zingy, citrusy leche de tigre that has a punch from the use of habanero chillies and a burst of sweetness from charred oranges and mulberry.

We had a reservation at 10:30 and only got a table after paying for the cover charge at 11:30 ! Not only that, the manager PRATHAMESH was the most rude person i have ever met in my entire life ! Talk about hospitality, there was none! I had friends from out of town because of which i had to swallow my pride and just keep waiting! When questioned that why did they over book, they blamed zomato, they kept saying that the previous guests havent left so there is a table shortage, how ridiculous? Not just that, the manager was extremely rude, when questioned, he kept saying, its not gonna work this way and i dont like your tone! Mind you me, i was very to the point when this person was brash and rude ! when i was speaking to him, he said that you are wasting my time, i was supposed to go find your table but you have wasted 5 mins of my time so now i will take 5 mins more ! We were hungry and had to wait for an hour for our table and these people had no organization in allocating tables, we were told to ask prathamesh which we had to do consistently every 15 mins due to which At one point he was like we’ll cancel your reservation you’ll get your refund from zomato, there were people just poaching tables, people who came after us had gotten tables, extremely embarrassing experience ! How is this person allowed to run a management? Only because he was questioned and asked to provide a table which we got after an hour of just standing ? And i am writing this in a sophisticated language, the man was rude and kept misbehaving, i dont think he knows how to speak to anyone actually let alone a girl! Later he came to apologise for his rude behaviour saying that too many people were asking for a table so i lashed out on you, how is that okay? How is that allowed ? I have never written a detailed experience in my life but for this i had to. I’m even considering suing them from gujrat high court for misconduct ! Extremely horrible experience ! Would...
