Restaurant Review: Jai Jawan
Ambiance and Setting: Jai Jawan has a casual and vibrant atmosphere, with a cozy, welcoming interior. The decor is simple yet charming, reflecting the restaurant’s focus on serving delicious food without unnecessary frills. The seating area is comfortable, though it can get quite busy, especially during peak hours. Despite the crowd, the place is kept clean, and the tables are well-organized. The restaurant has an inviting aroma of spices and grilled meats, setting the mood for a satisfying meal.
Service: The staff at Jai Jawan is friendly and efficient, managing to provide attentive service even during busy times. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful suggestions based on our preferences. Food was served promptly, with minimal wait times, which was impressive given the restaurant’s bustling environment.
Food and Drink: Jai Jawan is renowned for its authentic North Indian cuisine, particularly its seafood and tandoori dishes. We started with the Prawn Koliwada, a standout appetizer with perfectly spiced and crispy prawns. For the main course, we tried the Tandoori Chicken and the Butter Garlic Crab. The Tandoori Chicken was succulent and flavorful, with a perfect smoky char. The Butter Garlic Crab was a delightful experience, rich in flavor and generously portioned. The naan and roti served alongside were fresh and complemented the dishes well. We also enjoyed a refreshing Mango Lassi, which was thick, creamy, and not overly sweet.
Overall Experience: Jai Jawan provides an outstanding dining experience with its delicious food, friendly service, and warm ambiance. The highlight of the meal was the Butter Garlic Crab, which is a must-try for seafood lovers. It’s a perfect spot for a casual meal with friends or family, offering authentic North Indian flavors in a relaxed setting. We highly recommend Jai Jawan for anyone looking to enjoy hearty, flavorful Indian cuisine and will definitely be returning to try more...
Read moreJai Jawan.. has been an all time favorite of our family.. since I can remember. The original shop... a medium sized Bhaakda.. (i.e. a roadside temporary stall).. is located at Linking Road Bandra.. opposite the National College. If one wants to have freshly fried or straight from the tandoor here.. one can either stand around the stall and eat.. or get served in ones car. A small tip ensures brisk service. A few years back.. it has opened two more branches. At both the outlets.. Bandra and Versova.. one can sit and dine in a small dhaba style eatery. The menu is much longer here.. with a lot of gravies.. daals.. naans.. roti.. rice.. n desserts too. Good for vegetarians too.
The original stall specialises in Punjabi Fish n Prawn Fry.. Chicken Tandoori fare.. some organs and an array of kebabs. Evenings are crowded.. specially on weekends. Infact if you are'nt early.. you may have to return disappointed.. as the goodies sell out. I tell you.. one cant get fresher Basa and Prawns than this. Never ever had an health issue eating at this roadside joint. I rate the Seafood 9 out of 10.. and the Chicken n organs.. a 8.5. Rates arent exactly cheap.. but it is value for money. Its a must visit kind of place.. if you havent already.....
