First things first: I'm a German travel writer with many years of experience in India and very much acquainted with Indian food - which happens to be my favourite food in the world! Unfortunately the experience at Radha Krishna was a disappointment not in tune with the spacious and very pleasant interior of the place. First order: the Immunity Drink, a fruit & veg kind of mix - excellent! Hoping to get another nice drink, I order the Avocado & Papaya mix, which turns out a watery, reddish something, which maybe had 10% papaya in it and a strange bitter taste on top - but certainly no avocado. Upon complaining, they give it a second try. This time I get a light-green-brownish something (but 90% water), also with the bitter taste, supposedly unripe avocado (??), but no papaya. I complain, I say I'm paying for this thing, but I won't drink it, it tastes awful. It actually looked like Jal Jeera, but even Jal Jeera tastes better. A polite and friendly gentleman - who turns out to be the owner - says it's OK and waves the fee. Next order is Andhra Royala, pretty good and substantial. A bit less oil would be nice, though. As the first Immunity Drink had been very good, I order another one. This time, the taste is different, it's a different mix of ingredients (percentage-wise) and it's lacking the nice ginger it had the first time. This should not happen in a good restaurant: Food and drink must be standardized to always have the same taste, whoever makes them and whatever day it is - it can't be hit and miss. Then I order a Dal Tarka for takeaway - it turns out a watery and almost tasteless concoction; it tasted like it didn't even have any salt in it. I throw it away. All in all disappointing. The owner seems genuinely interested in feedback, and I hope the problems will be addressed. The people making the food and beverages need some stringent training. The posh interior suggest a Fine Dining experience, but that alone...
Read moreFood Being a born Matungaite (I am 71 now) and used to being pampered with excellent idli-vada-chutney-sambhar by Cafe Mysore, Cafe Madras, Ram Ashraya (and earlier by Anand Bhavan) for decades, I was expecting an exciting culinary treat with enhanced ambience! To check what's on the table, I visited Radha Krishna, unscheduled, this morning. Ordered Idli-Vada-Coffee! Thoroughly disappointed. Amazed at the audacity of the management to serve such food when next door at 50% of the price there's an option to get food 3 times as good. Idli was not light (like "Mallige huvu" as I describe in Kannada, Idlis my wife makes at home and some what like what Cafe Mysore offers), Vada was crisp from outside but hard from inside, almost as if undercooked, chutney was lousy - no taste of coconut, no zing, no texture (I usually require extra dose of chutney even in an ordinary Udupi hotel - but here I couldn't even finish what was served!). Sambar too was substandard - sweetish with neglible dal content! Filter Coffee was also very low on quality - very milky, not sufficiently hot and in small quantity - particularly looking at the staggering Rs 80/- charged for it. Service Despite more than adequate staff strength, nobody seemed to bother to acknowledge my presence. I had to struggle to catch attention of waiters first to serve water and after that to place order. Good part was bill came with QR code - so GPay was easy. Needless to say, I didn't tip even one rupee! While security at the entry opened the heavy door to facilitate my entry, no one was bothered to notice your struggle with the heavy door to get out! Atmosphere Generally good, spacious, air conditioned, with Bhau Daji view! Will I visit again?...
Read moreRadha Krishna So finally visited the newly opened Radha Krishna restaurant. Had the worst experience even before entering the restaurant. The man at the front door did not let my pregnant sister, mom & wife sit in cause all 5 people had not yet reached. There were a few empty tables which they could clearly see & even after saying that they want to order immediately as they are hungry and won’t be waiting for others, he did not let them in. Then finally someone from inside came and heard them and let them in to an empty table. Just cause they are running full as of now, doesn’t mean that you treat your customers with no respect and talk to them rudely! Below are the food items we ordered - Butter idli - The idli was fine but the chutney lacked any kind of taste. Thai lotus root 3 ways - It was super spicy. We eat spicy food but still even we felt it was spicy. And they had not even marked it “SPICY” Primavera Pizza - The pizza was very boring and had no wow factor in it. Mexican Steak Sizzler - There was no Mexican feeling about this sizzler. The rice was very basic and the sauce was a basic red sauce. It was very underwhelming. Veg. Kheema - The vegetable was very nice! It was one of the best dishes we had there. Paneer Lababdar - The Smokey flavour in the gravy was excellent. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Garlic Naan - It was as it should be. The garlic was adequate. Butter Roti - It was nice. Punjabi kulcha - It was decent. Rose Falooda - It was nice but there was no jelly in it.
All in all, except for the North Indian food; did not like anything else. The...
