Royal Challenge Restaurant & Bar Goregaon East — Restaurant in Mumbai

Bengali food festival Oct 13 - Oct 20,2024.- Special Menu. Visited multiple times with friends and family.

Mutton Mutton Mutton and Mutton - absolutely soft delicious and yummy.We tried Mangshor Jhol (Mutton curry boneless in thin red spicy gravy) and Luchi Kosha Mangsho boneless with thick red sauce ( Boneless Mutton with Large Puris)

Chicken - They need to improve on Chicken Indian dishes.The Chicken dishes were just okay below average but no way comparable with the top class mutton dishes.

Fish - Rahu Bhetki Prawns absolutely yummy. Rui Macher Kaalia - fish curry medium size pieces of fish , Rui Macher Jhol curry - fish big pieces and Rui Macher Jhal curry - medium pieces in mustard were all very good in preparation and taste .Prawns were also fine.Bhetki Fish fry was also very good.

Overall rating - food quality 9 on 10 .- mutton fish and prawns Atmosphere and ambience - 8.5 on 10 Service - 9 on 10. Drinks - dont know not an alcoholic never ordered Price - a little expensive per person 800/- to 1000/- without drinks.

AC cooling - need to improve on temperature and cooling as sometimes ac is not effective and inside is hot.

Chicken - Recommend Sardarji chef.as chicken cooking is in their blood.chicken preparations were not upto the mark.

Clutter - Lot of clutter old files documents old items lying in the bar area near the billing cash counter.Very congested.Not more than 2 people can stand.The stewards waiters need to be told not to stand doing nothing chitchatting as otherwise it becomes a fish market with 4 5 people standing at the same time.

Will I repeat - Yes definitely for mutton fish and prawns - but not for chicken till they improve.

Vegetarian items - dont know so cannot review.

Overall - Very pleasant dining week. Thank you Royal challenge for the excellent service and food quality will definitely wait in eagerness for the next food festival to visit. Rating 8 on 10.Two points deducted for AC cooling and chicken dishes preparation and clutter congestion...

Royal Challenge in Goregaon East has always carried an iconic reputation — a restaurant known for its history, warmth, and connection to Mumbai’s old glamour. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a wall of nostalgia — photographs of Bollywood celebrities from the 80s and 90s, capturing the era when this was the go-to spot for stars and elite patrons. The ambiance still reflects that classic charm — comfortable, elegant, and filled with stories of the city’s golden years.

The food, at first, absolutely lived up to expectations. Every dish we ordered tasted fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The seasoning was balanced, the portions generous, and the presentation impressive. It truly felt like a restaurant that takes pride in maintaining quality even after so many years in business. The service too was prompt, polite, and warm — the staff made us feel genuinely cared for, which added to the overall positive dining experience.

However, our experience took a disappointing turn the next morning. Out of five family members who dined together, three of us ended up with an upset stomach and loose motion. It’s unfortunate because, while the food tasted excellent, this after-effect raised questions about hygiene or food handling consistency.

It’s a restaurant that clearly has a glorious legacy, a top-notch ambiance, and courteous service, but maintaining strict kitchen hygiene is just as important as taste. I truly hope the management takes this feedback seriously, as Royal Challenge has the potential to remain a trusted classic — provided the focus on food safety matches the charm of its reputation.

Only big name, and it's definite that they are paying people for good reviews. No taste all the dishes are full of lots of oil & water or rather one can say what ever you order u get same tasteless appearance with lots of red oily water. Pathetic. Royal Challege stop FOOLING customers please be ware of The All mighty.

Tx for the reply but I will still have the same review as this is the third time I have ordered from Royal Challege and each time I have ordered your bestsellers having a rating of almost 5, and all the three times I felt like being cheated or fooled. So this time I wrote my HONEST reviews. Good if it hurt you may be you will realise how we fooled customer(s) feel when we get nothing in return of our hard earned money. Useless to mention the cost is way to high in comparison to the quality & quantity. I have gone through some more reviews which are almost similar to mine but they put it in a soft way and you never bothered to reply to them.

Request again to improve quality of your product 3 days, 3 decades or 30 decades doesn't make a difference if you can't be HONEST to your customers.
