4.0 in Fine Dine / Small Plate / Healthy eats (Mumbai)
The outlet plays with a calming tint of green and fresh white which makes it quite cozy & surprisingly refreshing. Earthy hanging lampshades overlook the tables, and on closer inspection, you would realize that they are, very tastefully, made from recycled cardboard. Most of their cutlery, spoons, forks, quarter plates, etc., is made from the bark of Neem trees which, they told us, has natural anti-bacterial properties. They have an open kitchen which is fun to peep into and see all the hard work they put into each meal. At the end of the counter of the open kitchen are two water dispensers filled with detox water that you can have in shots! The tables also have small planters with Fresh Wheatgrass that you can munch on while you wait for your order. For seasoning, the provide you with delicious pink Himalayan salt. Please remember, the salt is in crushers! We saw quite a few struggling with them.
Pineapple Spinach Spearmint Black Pepper: The unusual name & ingredients is what drew us to this beverage. It is quite filling with its thick consistency owing to the spinach & pineapple pulp. The drink has hints of carvone & sweetness from the spearmint, and sour from the pineapple. The after notes are a bit bitter, but it is certainly an interesting drink to try out. Activated Charcoal Lemonade: It’s a simple lemonade & its novelty is its colour, owing to the addition of activated charcoal. The ingredients don’t do much for the lemonade, however, the beverage is very refreshing overall. Straws: With each drink, they give you these lovely in-house straws that they make themselves with Banana leaves!
-Homemade Nachos, stir fry vegetables: Instead of using wheat nachos, Sante’ uses Khakhra inspired multigrain chips. They offer a beautiful & light crunch, however, get soggy quite quickly! Along with the Khakhra chips, broccoli, bell peppers are topped with Monterey jack cheese sauce & salsa.
-Beetroot & Spinach Hummos: Served with Multigrain khakhra chips instead of pita bread, the bright pink & green hummus swirls are definitely a sight for sore eyes while the consistency of the hummus was on-point. The beetroot hummus and a slightly sweet undertone while the spinach swirl had a bitter one, however, both were on the spicier side. The hummus is drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, crunchy chickpea chips, Olives & chili powder. This dish is from their Vegan variety.
Pizza Fungo: Keeping true to their mission of giving their patrons a healthy meal, Sante serves grilled pizzas with a base of Ragi. This pizza had the same base topped with olives & marinated mushrooms (button). The base is a thin crust but isn’t really crunchy. when it boils down to taste, we definitely enjoyed it.
Asian Quinoa Edamame & Apple Cake: This was one HUGE salad. If you aren’t fans of quinoa, then we suggest you do not order it; but if you do like quinoa, this is quite a treat! Quinoa is placed on a bed of rocket leaves, topped with Edamame, Pieces of Apple & bell pepper on the crown. The vegetables & quinoa are tossed in a citric lemongrass dressing, along with a mix of Dijon mustard & jaggery with an Asian dressing made with tamarind, dates.
Virgin Coconut Oil Toffees: Each toffee has a different flavor inside & can be quite slippery if you go to cut them with a spoon. The only drawback is that they leave you craving for more.
Valrhona Chocolate Pie: It was not a tart but a dense pastry of sorts. If you like chocolate, definitely a must-have. -The only drawback was the lengthy menu card. -At the end of the meal, we were given a bowl of flax seeds.
We visited the outlet on a very busy weekend & they were understaffed. However, they didn’t miss a beat at serving their patrons with a smile and tending to their every need. A special thank you to Chef Vilas & team for the delicious meal. A big shout out to Shamika who left us in splits and gave us some amazing...

Read moreFrom Pune to Hyderabad and now in Mumbai - I am talking about the amazing new restautant opened in Bandra Kurla Complex at the First International Financial Centre - Santé Spa Cuisine. Located right besides Smoke House Deli, Busago and Masala Library you will find this restaurant which promotes Honestly Healthy!
Santé in French means Health. And Spa Cuisine is actually a Spa for your body from within, because you are eating so healthy. The best part is that the ingredients have been handpicked and chosen so well that you don't compromise on the taste one bit, at the same time enjoy a guilt free indulgence at Santé Spa Cuisine. Chef Shailendra Kekade who has also been the executive chef for Pune outlet has been the mastermind behind this and he has indeed done a fantastic job of curating an amazing menu which you can enjoy. The restaurant has plenty of Vegan and Gluten Free options besides vegetarian which is again not very common, so a treat for them as well.
Moving straight to a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes that I tried -
We started with some Energetic Beverages - Chilled Vegan Turmeric Coco Latte, Activated Charcoal Lemonade, Pineapple Spinach Spearmint Black Pepper and Activated Charcoal with Coconut. All of these in tasting portions. Out of all, I personally loved the Vegan Turmeric Coco Latte - a brilliant combo of turmeric and coconut. Also the Activated Charcoal Lemonade was really nice.
Moving to appetisers - we started with the "Star Dish" of the evening - Beetroot and Spinach Hummus served with Multi-grain Khakra. I loved both the vegan hummus made in virgin olive oil and the mutli-grain khakra was too good. The combination was to die for. Being a Gujarati, it was the first time I enjoyed Khakra so much other than the usual way we are used to have it with ghee, etc. Again a brilliant fusion of Lebanese with Indian food.
Next we jumped to Asian cuisine - Dimsums and had two varieties of it - Carbon Dimsums and Crunchy Chlorophyll Dimsums. Charcoal Dimsums were activated charcoal tapioca steamed with black olive & hot black bean with garlic. Again something healthy and can be had to detox your body! Chlorophyll Dimsums, as the name would suggest green in color and had vegetable filling - broccoli, pok choy, baby spinach. I personally preferred the later one.
Moving away from starters, we tried couple of Salads. I personally don't prefer eating salads, but was open to trying on chef's special recommendation. We tried the Mediterranean Quinoa Salad and Spaghetti of Vegetables. The Quinoa salad besides quinoa of course had Apples, Walnuts, Cranberries, Rocket Leaves with Feta cheese. Tasted really nice, something you must try!
After the Pizzas - we tried three dishes which are completely different from each other - Bajra Riso, Red Thai Curried Vegetables and Swiss Vegetable Roestii. Gluten free Riso is rich on protein and has a very distinct taste! Swiss Vegetable Roestii was given a healthy spin-off - had grilled vegetables with some cream made of very little cheese. Out of all, I preferred the Red Thai Curried Vegetables which came along with steamed brown rice and coconut based gluten free vegan gravy!
Finally we ended our meal with a wide range and variety of desserts. We started with 3 different ice-creams (couple of scoops) - Black Wasabi, Almond Muesli and Pure Coconut and Palm Jaggery! I loved the Almond Muesli and Pure Coconut & Palm Jaggery ice-creams. Not so much the activated charcoal and Japanese Wasabi combo!
I had an amazing time at Sante Spa Cuisine, one which was so unique and not comparable to any of the other places visited! A must visit for all those who also believe in a healthy lifestyle or for ones who are looking for a change to their regular routine and give their body a much needed spa / break from the junk they have practically on a daily basis. All those in BKC, or travelling to BKC -...
