Streets of Calcutta — Restaurant in Mumbai

Streets of Calcutta is located on the main Oshiwara road and it is easy to find.

The seating is very limited hence call and confirm before visiting as mostly it is a takeaway outlet. I guess 4 people can sit inside.

The menu is Bengali cuisine and its super authentic. The menu is simple yet it offer variety. Prices are not high and quantity served is huge. Also they serve authentic in house made puchkas which was like the best that I have had apart from the ones which you get everywhere.

What We Had - APPETISERS~ Chicken Moghlai Paratha with Aloor Dom - One of the super heavy appetisers that you would come accept. Thick crispy paratha generously filled with minced chicken tasted perfect. Loved the taste of the filling as it had nice amount of spices used. The potato served along was also good but the paratha is a meal in itself.

MAINS~ Chicken Kosha with Luchi - Chicken gravy with big version of puri tasted good. Again the gravy was flavourful and the puri was the best.

Veg Special Thali - The veg thali consisted of all the below items and everything was really good. Loved eating everything in it. Luchi, Aloor Dom, Dal Rice, Vegetable Curry, Crispy Veg Chop, Tangy Chutney, Mishti Doi.

Food Quality: Chicken Cutlet & Puchka: The highlight of the appetizers, the chicken cutlet and Puchka was a burst of flavors. The crispy shell gave way to tender, well-seasoned masala, perfectly complemented by tangy tamarind water. The chicken cutlet was made yum with authentic taste of Bengal.

Chicken Gravy: The chicken gravy was rich and aromatic, with a balanced blend of spices that highlighted the chef's expertise in Bengali cuisine.

Mutton Biryani: The mutton biryani was a delight. Fragrant basmati rice layered with tender mutton pieces cooked to perfection, each bite was a symphony of flavors.

Service: The service was prompt and courteous. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring a pleasant experience.

I had ordered food for all my musicians in the studio last time, and each people loved the dishes!! but then i forgot to write the review but I personally visited this outlet today and had Bengal dishes & the food was so delicious that I over ate…but still don’t regret…If you ask me to rate this food from “Streets of Calcutta” I would have rated them 10 out of 5 but as we have an option for just 5stars, so yes!! the quality, quantity and taste of all the dishes are just mind boggling…BUT YES I HAVE SEEN THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE BENGALIS BUT STAYING ABROAD FOR YEARS, I doubt jinko bangali khaane ka actual swaad yaad bhi hai ya nahi, God knows…! aise log galat review dete hain to I feel bad for these people who really provides such amazing quality, and there was another customer beside me who had ordered some horrible deadly combination like SHUKTO with GREEN PEAS KOCHURI😂 aise log galat rating dedein to samajh sakta hu🤭Anyways, sharing this to let others know that if you are a pure Bengali and have enough knowledge about the authentic taste and culture about Bengal food, then you must visit...
