Irish House needs no introduction, has been one of the most successful chain of pubs and restaurants! It has no opened its 8th outlet in Mumbai in BKC. It is next to Asian Heart Hospital and in the same building on Level 4 where Copper Chimney has also recently opened.
It is known for the amazing beers they serve on tap or otherwise! When you reach Level 4 via Elevator, you will see some taps with running water. Just a teaser of what to come where at their bar you will find 24 taps serving international, domestic and craft beers. The place is well known for its Live Kitchen serving amazing woodfired pizzas, BBQ and burgers fresh from the grill! Had visited the place on a Thursday, was almost full and buzzing.
For the upcoming Football World Cup - Irish House has come up with several schemes and offers starting 14th June. Happy hours everyday from 5pm to 8pm and on select shots and bombs you get 2+1 post 8pm. Do contact the restaurant for more details.
Coming straight what all I ordered at the Irish House -
We started with the appetisers and called for Trio of Shots presented in a glass with a mix of Crispy Spinach fritters (fried), Garlic Potato Pops and Deep Fried Spicy Jalapenos served with Sweet Chilli Dip. Loved all three, fried so tasted amazing. Served with skewers. Must try
Next tried the Armagh Mushroom Bites - my personal favorite amongst the appetisers. Mushroom Lovers don't miss this at all. Mini buns stuffed with mushrooms in a creamy sauce and topped with cheese. Buns were very fresh and soft. Must try for sure!
After this we tried the Beetroot and Goat Cheese Sliders - which were Mini Charcoal Buns packed with beetroot and goat cheese patty served with blue potato chips! Patty was delicious and so was the the charcoal bun even when had it separately. Those open for experimentation can go for this dish.
To go with the food, we ordered couple of mocktails - Spicy Guava Mary and Chocolate & Peanut Butter Shake. Amongst the two would definitely recommend the Spicy Guava Mary - combination of guava juice Tabasco and chillies. Peanut butter lovers can go for the other option, though it is quite sweet.
Moving to the mains, we first ordered the Open Farmhouse - a good alternative for those who wouldn't want to try their woodfired pizzas! Spicy pickled smoked peppers and baby corn with mozarella and cheddar cheese topped with caramalised onions - served along with house fries and salad.
Next we tried the Peri Peri Cottage Cheese Bowl which is from their grill menu. Peri Peri Cottage Cheese grilled to perfection served with couscous and pepper mushrooms. You must have a bite of all these things together to get the actual taste of the dish, fantastic combination. Again those open for experimentation, can definitely go for this one. Must try!
Lastly from the mains, we ordered the Hunter's Penne Pasta in Pesto Sauce. It had sundried tomatoes mushrooms and Parmesan cheese served with toasted bread. A good filling portion.
Finally from the desserts, we ordered the Nutty Caramel Pie. As the name suggests - Caramel and Peanut Butter Pie with a layer of Chocolate Ganache. Topped with Warm Caramel Sauce! Yummy and worth a try! The other option that one can go for is the Irish Riverdance - Heaven!
All-in-all, amazing experience at Irish House, some dishes I personally loved and would definitely recommend! An ideal place to unwind after a gruelling day's of work for all in...
Read moreWe visited on a Thursday evening for dinner & the place was full - even on a weeknight! The crowd largely seemed to comprise of other corporate professionals like us, owing to this location.
We took a high table - but were skeptical that it would be uncomfortable. Far from it! The table & chairs & the entire evening was very comfortable. The place is well done - starting from the staircase, to the foyer, to the interiors of the eatery itself. Very quirky & quaint. There are some outstanding caligraphy, artwork & quotations on the walls - that make you smile.
A summary of what we tried:
BEVERAGES
Spiced Guava Mary - was too sweet for my liking - but was good to start the evening in this heat. A tad spicier would have been more fun.
Chocolate & Peanut Butter Shake - almost a mini meal in itself. This was so delicious, we were tempted to order one more!
FOOD
Trio of Shots - We were very excited to try this mixed bag of Crsipy Spinach Fritters, Garlic Potato Pops & Deep Fried Spicy Jalapenos served with Sweet Chilli Dip. Our excitement was worth it - this was an outstanding dish & we polished it off. Each of the three fried tots were delicious & their combination together even better. MUST ORDER
Armagh Mushroom Bites - This was a surprise dish - we ordered it purely on the picture on the menu & were not disappointed. The bread bowl was soft & fresh. The mushroom filling was delicious. The quantity of the stuffing was amazing - so that the bread just cut through nicely in parts. Loved this dish. MUST ORDER if you eat/like mushrooms
Beetroot & Goat's Cheese Sliders - If you love Goat's Cheese, there is not way you can skip these sliders. They were so delicious! The flavour of the Goat's Cheese just permeated the slider.
Hunter's Penne - comfort food, the pesto was good. Tough to go wrong with this dish!
Peri Peri Cottage Cheese Bowl - we debated a lot between this & other dishes, but ultimately went ahead with this. And we were happy with our choice. The Paneer was soft, flavourful, well cooked & not chewy. 100/100. The flavours of the Mushroom & Cous Cous with it went well. If you are a fan of non-spicy but hearty & wholesome meals, then this is the dish you must order. I loved it so much, i am going to order it again when I visit next.
Open Farmhouse - a good substitute to pizza - loved the unique flavour. More like an open sandwich.
DESSERT
Nutty Caramel Pie - short & sweet, this was yummy!
The service at Irish House was impeccable. Staff was knowledgeable & made sensible decisions. They were polite knowing when to come vs when to...
Read moreIrish House needs no introduction, after years of high quality service it has now acquired almost a cult following. If there was one location in Mumbai that IH had not yet tapped (surprisingly) then it had to be BKC, and now that's been addressed too. So when I went there it was not at all unexpected to see all tables occupied, more so since the happy hours were all day long on all drinks. The service was a little bit on the slower side but I guess that can be overlooked given how busy the place was. We got off the mark with Old Monk and Cheese Burst Chicken, which was really yummy, lots of gooey cheese inside and very crispy on the outside. Our next drink was the classic Irish Trash Can, and while the taste was as good as ever, I suspected the quantity was distinctly less than usual. I dug up some old pics from my previous visits to other IH branches, and very disappointingly, my suspicion was proven right. The other starter we ordered was Two Face Chicken Skewers. Both the white cream and the red sauce variants were good, my preference being the latter. For the mains we opted for our all time favourite, Sriracha Chicken Pizza. Now I'm not a fan of thin crust pizzas, so if I like one then it has to be particularly good, which this one was. I highly recommend it. We ended the night with a round of Smirnoff with RedBull, can't really go wrong with that one. Apart from the Trash Can, the only other con was the music. I understand the music is a big part of the atmosphere and feel of Irish House, but this was way too loud, more than a few decibels higher than their other branches where you will have no problem holding a conversation. In my view, the Pali Hill branch provides the best Irish...
