There are very few restaurants that you look forward to visiting, due to various reasons. Good food, cozy ambiance, great drinks, courteous service. And there are fewer restaurants which offer all of them together. One such place is Yauatcha, perhaps one of the best places to visit to eat Asian cuisine.

Had visited this place on a Thursday (reservation recommended) and the place was buzzing as usual. Just amazing to see how this place is packed on weekdays, be it lunch or dinner time but is even more crowded on weekends in a business district area. Always have had a fantastic time at Yauatcha and this time around was no different. Place accommodates couples, families, small as well as large groups easily. Huge place with a well stocked bar and a separate section to store wines as well. The lights hanging from the wall, the fish tanks in the background with blue waters, ambiance of the place is just perfect for a date with your loved ones, or catchup with your friends or working meal with colleagues.

I can go on and on talking great things about Yauatcha but now coming to what all I tried here -

This September, Yauatcha is promoting Vegetarian Dumpling options from Plump and sweet Edmame Truffle Dumpling to Three Style Mushrrom Cheung Fun. Watch out for these specials and check with server. We tried 3 dumplings - Crunchy Iceberg, Asparagus and Water Chestnut and Vegetable Chive. I personally loved all three and difficult to choose which one was better than the other. Crunchy Iceberg comes in an attractive mauve (pink) color filled with Asparagus, Sweetcorn and Iceberg lettuce. Unique dumpling, never tried before and I highly recommend this one. Asparagus and Water Chestnut Dumpling as name suggests - has asparagus and water chestnut, also has raw papaya. Perhaps it gets its yellowish color from there. Yummy and should be by those who prefer the regulars rather than experimenting or those who don't prefer mushrooms. Good Jain option.

Finally the other dumpling, Veg Chive comes in an attractive green color with lotus root, celery, carrot and flower chive, garnished with some pomegranate on top. All three put together is a delight to look at and so colorful. Do checkout the pictures to understand what I am trying to say. Besides the dumplings, tried Yauatcha's signature dish - Fried Turnip Cake with Veggies - made of Shitake Mushroom, Carrot and Raddish, sprinkled with burnt garlic on top. Simply awesome, neatly presented. Must have and highly recommended to be tried by vegetarians who eat mushrooms.

To go along with food, we ordered couple of drinks - Kiwi and Lime Iced Tea - Kiwi & Lime Juice, Passion fruit & Jasmine Tea. Blended amazingly, compliments to the bar tender for this amazing drink. We also tried the Tokyo Cooler which is a fruit blend of lemongrass, raspberry, elderflower, peach and guava. Just felt this one was a little too syrupy. Suggestion, just go for the Kiwi and Lime Iced Tea, fabulous.

We actually went heavy on the starters and didn't have much space for mains, because I really wanted to try the desserts from the Yauatcha Patisserie. From the mains, we tried Spicy Rice and Braised Tofu Claypot. Spicy Rice has Edmame beans, Taro and Shitake Mushrooms, where as the Claypot is a mix of Fried Tofu, water chestnut beans in Chilli Black sauce. Tasted really good. And with decent amount of options for vegetarians in rice and noodles for vegetarians, you are in for a treat.

Moving to the desserts - tried 2 of them the Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse and Raspberry Delice. Absolutely loved both of them - both mousse - one chocolate with hazelnut insert and served with honeycomb ice-cream and other a raspberry dark chocolate mousse, with lychee panacotta insert with raspberry and lychee ripple ice cream. Must haves, please go and indulge while having these.

Yauatcha Patisserie has introduced new Festive Hampers where they have extravagant hamper which contains Box of 12 Macroons, 12 Chocolates, Flavoured Tea and voucher redeemable at Yauatcha. Other ones being the Grand Hamper and...

Yauatcha is an upscale and plush fine-dine restaurant located in BKC, serving authentic Asian, Cantonese and Chinese food. For those looking for a scrumptious Asian fare, Yauatcha is certainly the place to be at!

The sprawling and spacious two-storey patisserie and restaurant has a beautiful display of Instagram-worthy desserts just as you enter, with the restaurant being on the 1st floor.

Special thanks to Mr. Arjun and Ms. Neha. They were polite, courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and ensured that our meal was perfect and gave us some good recommendations.

We started off with a couple of mocktails namely, Tokyo Cooler, Plum Cut Larisa and Virgin Lalu. The mocktails was uber refreshing and paired beautifully with the food. A MUST try! Highly recommended.

Having heard so much about this place, we couldn’t wait to get started. Here’s the brief:

Turnip Cake – Their signature dish and an absolute crowd-pleaser, the Turnip cakes are crispy fried squares with finely minced carrots and mushrooms. It is fried till golden brown and crispy and is topped off with crisp garlic, spring onions, and birds eye chillis. Hands down, my FAVOURITE! This would be a CRIME TO MISS! Highly recommended.

Spinach Roll with prawn – Spinach wrapped prawn and water chestnut rolls topped with a fragrant and delicious garlic-y sauce. The spinach rolls were steamed to perfection. The prawn was juicy, succulent, tender and just melted in the mouth, while the water chestnuts gave this dish a nice crunch. WOW! Worth every penny! Highly recommended.

Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun – A soft and delicate rice paper rolls filled with crispy prawn tempura and topped off with a flavourful soy sauce. A perfect example of a texturally balanced dish - soft on the outside, crisp on the inside, thereby giving you an immensely satisfying bite! Must try!

Chicken & Prawn Shui Mai – A classic chicken and prawn Shui mai with a tender and juicy chicken and prawn filling. Warm, delicious and a palate pleaser!

Chicken Shanghai Dumplings – Gyozas filled with a tasty and delicate filling of chicken that just melted in the mouth. Served warm, every bite was an absolute treat!

Crispy John Dory – Crispy, batter-fried john dory fillets topped with a sweet and spicy Thai Chilli sauce and sesame seeds. The coating was perfectly seasoned and the fish just melted in the mouth. Highly recommended.

Braised chicken with mushrooms in a clay pot & Egg Fried Rice – Fragrant, warm and delicious egg fried rice which we paired with a delicious braised chicken with mushrooms in a clay pot gravy. Well, certainly a MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN! Highly recommended.

Raspberry Delice – Raspberry dark chocolate mousse with a lychee pannacotta insert and a hazelnut brownie and is served along with a raspberry and lychee ripple ice-cream. The soft and creamy raspberry and lychee ripple ice-cream cut through the richness of the raspberry dark chocolate mousse perfectly.

Chocolate Hazelnut mousse – A silky, smooth and creamy hazelnut mousse with a crunchy hazelnut insert for texture served along with a creamy honeycomb ice cream. Love the strong taste of hazelnut in every bite. Highly recommended.

Assorted Macarons – We tried the raspberry, butterfly pea flower (violet), coconut, chamomile pistachio, and grapefruit mascarpone macarons. The macarons were had a smooth, hard crunchy shell and were a generous filling and were baked to perfection. LOVED them! Highly recommended.

To end our meal, we had a cup of fragrant and aromatic white tea namely, Pearl of the Caribbean. The tea had notes of tropical fruits giving it that light and bright fruitiness as well as a hints of citrus-y notes to create a well-balanced cup of tea. Highly recommended.

On the whole, we had an enjoyable and memorable dining experience at Yauatcha. The food, service, and ambience certainly exceeded our expectations....

Overview:- Now this is a damm good place to visit, the closest I have got to asian cuisine. The food was great. I had the chicken and prawn shui mai, toasted prawns with sesame seeds, chicken Cheung fun, kung pao chicken, nasi goreng and a hazelnut mousse to end. I also got some cucumber pickles which a good too, they had a sweet flavour with the acidic zing and tasted really good.

Kung pao:- The kung pao was amazing, the chicken was tossed rather than deep fried and cut into bite size pieces. The sauce was sour as well as sweet which added a nice zing. There were bulb cut onions cooked between charred and partly caramelized which gave a break from the meat. There were also some szechuan peppers that added a very strong spice to an overall sweet chicken dish. There were also some cashews present which made mild the chillies. All the elements were cooked so perfectly that it seemed as if they were cooked seperately and put together at the very end. Flavour-10/10 Cooking-9.8 Quality-10/10 Quantity-8/10 Price-9/10 Buy rating-9.3/10

Chicken and prawn dumpling:- The dumplings were amazing, perfectly flavoured. It was neither too overpowering nor unnoticeable. The dumplings had a really thin dough cover which allowed independent flavours and at the same time holding all the elements together. The prawns gave a nice bouncy texture. The chicken was well ground but not too much as that a paste. The flavour was nice, mild and comforting. The dough was cooked really well, soft but at the same time a little chewie. The feeling was simple, but strong and the dish stood out as its own. It was amazing with the burnt garlic reduced sauce. Flavour-10/10 Cooking-10/10 Quality-10/10 Quantity-7/10 Price-8/10 Buy rating-8.8/10

Chicken Cheung fun:- It is basically a tempura wrapped in a dough with a texture same as the dumpling, steamed and served with a mild broth. The tempura was amazing peppery and garlicky. There were also some roughly minced chicken bits that added a nice chewy texture. The taste and seasoning was modest and noble with not much spice and acidity. The sauce was mildly citrus on the toung for just a little perfect amount of time. This dish would surely not lead to a bad stomach Flavour-9/10 Cooking-8/10 Quality-9/10 Quantity-9/10(2 rolls with 8 bite-size pieces) Price-9/10 Buy rating-8.7/10

Toasted prawns with sesame seeds:- Leave the taste aside. This dish had all textures bouncy, hard, soft, crispy. I never stuck too long with one texture. The upper coating was hard and a little difficult to break but the lower one is so crispy and effortless. Once you bite into the coating, there is a soft and bouncy prawn. The sesame seeds were a little chewie which added another texture. Taste wise, it was a mild dish again, but went too good with the two sauces. The dish was simple overall for shrimp toast is not something you would expect in a high end restaurant like this. Flavour-8/10 Texture-10/10 Cooking-10/10 Quality-10/10 Quantity-7/10 Price-9.5/10 Buy rating-9/10

It was a very good experience at yauatcha and the set up of the restaurant was also great. The only thing that troubled me was the weak service. It took the staff a very long time to just get a few pickles. The seats were very close to eachother, the interior was rather well mordern, but the music was too loud and it all seemed much chayotic than calm and soothing. However, if you want to have a good asian cuisine experience, this is highly recommended.

Other ones being the Grand Hamper and Magnificent Hamper.

Here’s the brief: Turnip Cake – Their signature dish and an absolute crowd-pleaser, the Turnip cakes are crispy fried squares with finely minced carrots and mushrooms. The food, service, and ambience certainly exceeded our expectations. Totally worth it!

Flavour-10/10 Cooking-9.8 Quality-10/10 Quantity-8/10 Price-9/10 Buy rating-9.3/10 Chicken and prawn dumpling:- The dumplings were amazing, perfectly flavoured. Flavour-10/10 Cooking-10/10 Quality-10/10 Quantity-7/10 Price-8/10 Buy rating-8.8/10 Chicken Cheung fun:- It is basically a tempura wrapped in a dough with a texture same as the dumpling, steamed and served with a mild broth. The tempura was amazing peppery and garlicky. There were also some roughly minced chicken bits that added a nice chewy texture. The taste and seasoning was modest and noble with not much spice and acidity. The sauce was mildly citrus on the toung for just a little perfect amount of time. This dish would surely not lead to a bad stomach Flavour-9/10 Cooking-8/10 Quality-9/10 Quantity-9/10(2 rolls with 8 bite-size pieces) Price-9/10 Buy rating-8.7/10 Toasted prawns with sesame seeds:- Leave the taste aside. Flavour-8/10 Texture-10/10 Cooking-10/10 Quality-10/10 Quantity-7/10 Price-9.5/10 Buy rating-9/10 It was a very good experience at yauatcha and the set up of the restaurant was also great.
