Went for a family dinner to Khan Market on Wednesday evening, we were craving sizzlers and as I checked on the internet Gola sizzlers is one of the top recommended places serving them. I had placed a reservation online for 6 people which was confirmed, I recommend reservation for the place as it is usually busy.
Ambiance: The place is in the inner lane of Khan market if you enter from the front side of the market then on your left side. The restaurant is on the first floor which is accessible through stairs only. Once inside the place has a very nice and cosy feel, it has a bar and comfortable sitting.
Service: The staff serving us was Primy, sorry if I got the spelling wrong. She was very good with food recommendations and was very patient with order taking. The service was fast and very attentive.
Drinks: We didn’t try anything from the bar, just had aerated drinks like ginger ale, sprite etc, so can’t comment much on the drinks.
Food: We ordered a lot of food for 6 people had to get some packed by the end of dinner.
French Fries: Nice and crispy, they even added spice to it on our request, though it is served just with salt.
Chilly Chicken Sizzler: Chilly chicken was nice and was served on top of noodles, you have the option of rice as well. I liked the taste though it was not the best of the sizzlers we tried during our meal.
Chicken Shashlik Sizzler: This was by far the best sizzler I had, it came with rice, 3 chicken skewers and veggies. The dish was very well balanced in taste and flavour.
Veg Tawa Sizzler: This was the veg sizzler with had vegetables like carrots, mushrooms, Baby corn, capsicum, etc. it comes with parathas which was a nice. But the same was a smaller serving size when compared to the non veg options.
Keema Kulcha: This was a huge kulcha cut in 4-5 slices, we thought it would be smaller in size. The kulcha was stuffed with chicken keema and was nice. But it was very heavy.
Cost: Cost for our meal for 6 was 5000INR which is not that expensive, thought the rates of sizzlers at this location are slightly higher compared to the one in CP but the ambiance and service is way better and makes up for the slightly higher rates.
Overall, I highly recommend this place if you are in the mood to try sizzler’s. The staff is very professional, ambiance is very nice & the...
Read moreGola Sizzlers in CP was one of the places I used to go to as a school and college kid for sizzlers. They always had a variety of sizzler options - continental, chinese, indian, fusion, etc. However, the restaurant used to be dimly lit and the decor was just average. So when I heard that Gola Sizzlers had revived themselves, redecorated, upped their game and opened in Khan Market, I had to try it!
The restaurant has opened right in the middle of Khan Market and occupies prime property. The decor is completely different from what it used to be - its cozy and chic and has definitely kept up with the trends. The Bar offers a vast selection of drinks. The outlet is spread over 2 floors and brings you the most exquisite menu which is not limited only to Sizzlers! There is something for everyone who visits.
We started with the Black pepper prawns and the Fish Tikka. The prawns cooked in black pepper and garlic sauce was well prepared and quite spicy. The Fish tikka, which is soft spiced fish cooked in a tandoor served with chutney is the best that i have had in quite a while. The flavours were subtle and not overbearing, the spice levels were just right and the fish was fresh and juicy .
Moving on to the main course, we tried the Two for one sizzler and masala lamb chops with mushroom sauce.
The Sizzler, which consists of grilled chicken steak and chicken breast served with butter tossed vegetables and mushroom sauce was insanely good! the chicken was succulent, the veggies cooked just right and the sauce was delectable!
The masala lamb chops with mushroom sauce consisted of spiced new zealand lamb chops, mushroom puree, mashed potatoes which was another winning dish!
The meal ended with the Ice cream sizzler which was chocolate brownies topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. We could not have asked for a better end to the meal. All in all, it was a well spent evening at the swanky new Gola Sizzlers outlet in khan market. Their extensive menu leaves you spoilt for choice and the chic yet cozy decor, courteous staff and generous portions keep your hearts and tummies full. This has got to be a sure shot choice for your next...
Read moreWell, this is not a typical review, where I share my views on the food, ambience, etc. These are my comments on my first experience at the The Gola Sizzlers, Khan Market where I actually could not dine. So I visited the joint very recently with a friend. The place was full (given it was a weekend), so we gave our number and asked them to give us a call when they're ready to host us. We got a call after 15 mins, confirming our table was ready, only that it wasn't!! There was no place at all. We understand how busy places can get and this was acceptable to us, so we waited for 15 more mins or so and then approached the manager to check. Now, the manager had absolutely nothing to say to us. For him us being there and waiting, didn't matter at all!! All he had to say was that they are full! When told that they should not be calling people in if there's no place, he didn't seem concerned at all. After feeling like we were standing on top of the heads of people dining there (which I am sure no one would like) we decided to leave. It's not about not finding a table or having to wait, it's about the hospitality, the common courtesy; something that you definitely expect from people in the F&B business. What I'll remember form this experience? Not that we could not find the table, but that the manager/staff could not care...
