Delicious Food
Perch calls itself a ‘wine and coffee bar’ but it’s also a very good place for food. This restaurant stretches across two levels: on the first floor (only stairs, no lift, as is the norm in Khan Market), and on the floor above. My brother and I came here for lunch, and found that all the ‘regular tables’ (read: with normal chairs) were occupied, so all that was left were the high tables with bar stools, on which you perch. We settled in at the table in the centre of the restaurant, which seems to function partly as a sort of waiting area—you can sit here with your glass of wine or whatever until they find another table for you.
However, we were quite comfortable at this table (and we had it to ourselves), so even hen we were offered a table upstairs, we opted to keep sitting here. Almost all the tables around us were occupied by people at work: several business meetings were going on, and a couple of people were working in laptops as well.
The menu at Perch is not a huge one. The wine and coffee lists (which also include some soft drinks, cocktails, etc) are part of the menu, plus there are small plates, large plates, and desserts. The food is international.
We ordered the following dishes:
Mushroom croquettes: Five to a portion, these were pretty large, the outside a crisp shell, the inside almost meltingly soft. Delicious enough on their own, without needing the dip that accompanied them.
Pork Scotch egg: A huge Scotch egg, wrapped around with minced pork, crumbed and fried. I was very impressed with this—the pork (which was delicious) was perfectly cooked, the outside crumb was crunchy and golden, and yet the egg yolk was oozy. This came with a little heap of spiralized carrots, and an emulsion of grapes and mustard, of which I’d have liked a bit more, it was so yummy. A great dish.
Cherry whisky cheesecake with plum pudding ice cream: The dish’s name on the menu says it all. The plum pudding ice cream could have done with some dried fruit (I got bits of crumbled pudding, and the flavour of the spice and alcohol was excellent, though), and I do wish there had been more cherries inside the cheesecake, not just as a garnish. This was a good dessert, but its description gave the impression of more fruit than there was in the dish—and me being a lover of fruity desserts, I was a bit disappointed.
We finished with a cup of flat white each, with came with its own little accompaniments: a tiny slice of what seemed like banana bread, and a tiny biscuit. The coffee was excellent.
In all, we paid Rs 2,529 for our meal, taxed and service...
Read moreThis place is just amazing, visited khan market after a long time. My friend just asked if I wanted to have some wine, with my previous experiences in wine tasting I had quite ordinary taste and that common taste of all. But this peculiar place had the most awesome wines of all time. We took the home made spiced wine, which was just amazing and a perfect winter drink I must say. Then I tried a coffee flavoured wine, which had a very different coffee aroma and after taste to it. It was simple great and would visit that place again for sure.
Edit: Back to this place, now in summers the place was more crowded, luckily the weather was amazing, i came to try their wines this time, tasted red wine, white wine, coffee flavoured wine and their spice wine. Loved the coffee and spice wine, other 2 had the same old taste, the potato fries i ordered were quite the opposite of what I expected, they were normal chips and i felt duped ordering it. Then the goat cheese breadsticks were not that good and didn't go well with the wine at all, as requested to suggest. Overall it was bit on the low side. Not knocking the ratings down only due to...
Read morePerch wine and coffee bar is located in Khan market known to be a very posh area. They serve great coffee and wine.Along with it they serve continental and European food too. This cafe is made on the first floor with all the wooden interior and yellow lights which makes the ambience very cosy. Had 1) Cappuccino - They serve Cappuccino in a cute black cup with heart made on the top. It was strong and the coffee used in it was of good quality. 2)Flat - white coffee - It is more of a milk based than to be a strong coffee, cute little heart was made by milk foam on the top. (As I'm a coffee lover their coffee was definitely good in comparison to coffee served in other cafes). 3)Double chocolate parfait - It was dark chocolate mousse topped with some berries and granola for some crunch it tasted really well with the coffee. Perch has a really great view. It's perfect for meeting , date or a solo date too. Ofcourse the price is high due to the area and the service provided otherwise the crowd, ambience, staff everything is amazing it's worth visiting if you are a coffee lover and wanna get away from the daily...
