Diary entry 201: Covid Era
Yum Yum Cha-nges the way you think! Since this horrific times aren't beginning to get over anytime soon you wouldn't quite miss the option having your taste buds treated wisely with piquant flavors of the variety here to get your mood levels rise by a 100% ....
The place is located on the first & second floor and hence you get sanitized & check for the temperatures on the ground floor! The setting is quite modern with easy to sit and light wooden fixtures. Its done up keeping in mind of the Japanese art of Origami kinda elements in their larger than life formats which gives a very cafe feel of the eastern Asian land. And to top it all of r the food that these guys serve Asian flavors at such a chill price! I visited with my daughter & the "veg" wife to create some FAMILY ar happiness and thats what it finally led too ...
Famished to the core we ordered for many snacks together starting with Asparagus Tempura and Enchanted Forest Sushi Rolls, Chicken in 🌶 Oil and Chilli Cheese and Edmame Truffle Dimsums with some Crispy Corn Cake. Well it led to almost "each one take one" kinda game between us since the palate in front of us was about more than the presentation actually. It is like an extraordinary overwhelming feeling to be served with such quality of ingredients which is so lip-smacking! While I just got some opportunity to click a few pics since my daughter overpowered on the chicken dimsums which although being Chilli was still made her very happy that she had 3/4 of them at one go! The sushi rolls were distributed equally almost between my wife and I while gobbled on the Edmame dimsums alone! Crispy corn cake was an yummy affair to be had at a go ... with the adequate condiment oils! These family of oils is the very next level of the pickles that we are used to having literally. By this time the two girls in front of me were almost fulfilled though by now since their appetite as I like to say is just 10% of mine...
More than happy by now in all good manner, I ordered for a Cha Su Ramen (Braised Pork Belly) which is served in an unique Paper Hot Pot heated and noodles on the side! Well i was more than delightful to have it all alone and started on it only to find my daughter being curious about the soup and finally shared the noodles 🍜 since even she was as interested on it just like me! We enjoyed it to its last strand of noodles and drop of soup was left and the feeling between us was extremely joyous and we were motivated to have the Desserts like anything....
And for desserts my daughter had the last say and ordered the Mud Pot and the 3 Mochis which are the must have from their ideal menu while my wife and I chose on the New York Cheesecake since it always been a favourite and only common thing in our palate probably! I was unable to click the matcha & cappuccino Mochi's since they were gobbled down by the girls at a stretch and they loved it to the core just like I had imagined to be a day back when I had decided to come here for a helluva change!
Eating is as always... much like the most enjoyable experience in this Covid Era and even more receptive from the point of view of the restaurant so it has to follow the guidelines to the T as effective...
Read moreOne of the finest places to dine-in in Delhi NCR is Yum Yum Cha. It has a wide variety of Japanese and Chinese dishes which are both healthy and delicious.
You'll always have to wait for your table since this place is always packed. But fortunately, we reserved our table in advance to avoid the queue.
It was a rainy day when we visited Yum Yum Cha, Khan Market. We started with Mushroom & Avocado salad which comes in a pair of 2 and it is perfect for those who love salads and have a liking for mushroom. I loved it.
Along with the salad, we ordered Crispy Green Shake. Unique is the word for this dish. It was prepared with some masala and we can customise as per our taste. I strongly recommend you try this out. It comes in good quantity so order well.
For main course, we ordered Sukho Thai Stone Pot. We had it with rice but you can customise it with either quinoa or noodles too. It comes in a huge quantity and I think 3-4 people can easily satisy their hunger with this. It had lots of mushrooms and it is one of the best mushroom based dishes I've had anywhere. Like, anywhere.
Coming to Yum Yum Cha and not ordering the Fun Bottles is not a good idea. So, we ordered Pink Pomelo, Thai Orange & Kafir Lime and Lemon Iced Tea. There's not even a single dish or drink in the menu that will disappoint you. We were astonished with how heavenly Lemon Iced Tea tasted. I even loved the Chef recommended Thai Orange & Kafir Lime, it was something different from the usual drinks. I didn't like PinkPomelo though.
I'm so glad Veg Sushi is available at this place. We tried Wasabi Roll which has cucumber, carrot and wasabi peas. It was so tough to use chopsticks initially but with the help of the staff, I've learnt how to use them now. It was good. I didn't know sushi tastes so good. For vegetarians, Wasabi Roll is the best seller and is chef recommended.
We also tried the Japanese Pizza i.e.Truffle Pepper. It had yellow pepper as the topping and was prepared with ponzu. I didn't like it much because I think we are not used to eating pizza without cheese😂 but my sister loved it.
The ambiance and the staff here is so extremely nice that you feel like sitting there for some more time, but you have to remember that there are people waiting for their tables.
To end our time here, we ordered Chocolate Mud Pot and New York Cheesecake. I've got to say Big Chill has got some serious competition now 😂. Cheesecake was so yummy and warm and cripsy at the same time. I'm so coming back just for the cheesecake. Hahaa Chocolate Mud Pot tasted good too. It had lots of warm chocolate covered with Choco powder.
My experience here was amazing and I can't thank enough the courteous staff here. For offers and queries, contact management. Happy...
Read moreYum yum cha doesn't really need any introduction, it has already created quite a name for itself by its other 2 outlets. This one is their third one and is located in the middle lane of the hustling bustling Khan market. Visited this place for lunch. Its on the first floor. The interiors are on the same theme just like the other ones, colourful and origami based to give it an authentic Japanese feel. The seating is quite cramped up but understanding the small areas available here ,they've tried to accommodate as much seating as possible. Even on a Tuesday , there was not a single empty table till I was there. The cuisine here is Japanese and Chinese. They've added a lot of new dishes to the menu and I definitely wanted to try them out. THE PINK POMELO fun bottle is the new addition. It was quite refreshing and had slices of pink pomelos in it. Also liked THE POMEGRANATE AND GINGER ,a lovely combination of juliennes of ginger with the pomegranate juice. THE DIMSUMS are a must have here and some of them are really unique like the new one ,THE ROASTED CORN , in which corn is first roasted and then filled ,bringing in that smokey flavour .THE CREAM CHEESE which has soft cream cheese with the crunch from the water chestnuts is my absolute favourite. THE 5 DIP plate is to die for. Each dipping sauce in it is packed with a unique flavour and is simply irresistible. You cannot go back without having THE SUSHIS here. Every table I saw had at least one plate of sushi on it stating how popular, good and fresh the sushis are here. Definitely one of the best place in the city for sushi. I'm simply hooked on to their tempura ones but all of them are amazing. Another popular dish is their STONE BOWLS with a new option of quinoa too but I went for the sticky rice one with mushrooms . Though it tasted really good I always feel the gravy is always less for the quantity of rice. Being a vegetarian I was quite inquisitive to see what the MOCK DUCK tasted like . It was flat pieces of soya with a sweet and sour sauce ,trying to imitate it like a duck dish. I've never tasted duck so don't know how close it was to the duck but the dish itself tasted good. With my stomach full I reluctantly ordered the BANOFEE SUSHI ,and didn't regret it one bit. A sheet of chocolate cake wrapped on a banana and cream topped with caramel sauce and crunchy rice crispies and cut in a sushi shape was really indulging. Also do try their very popular MOCHI ICECREAMS in a whole lot of flavours. The service is great and they have a very curteous staff. No compromises on the quality of food ,this is one of my...
