Wow !! What an amazing experience of having food at this restaurant!! Can't explain in words.. one should experience it ! Extraordinary taste! Felt divine like!! I had been to many places. But, this is the only restaurant which made me feel - "whatever the cost be, let me have food for full stomach ". Such an awesome taste and quality!!! First, I ordered a set of idli. They brought two idlis with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, tomato thokku, idli podi and sambar. Idli was awesome. So soft, smooth and hot and went melting inside the mouth. These idli dipped along with the chutney's and sambar they had provided, took directly to the paradise and gave a divine touch!! Really, a wonderful taste! Next, I had ordered pongal with medhu vada. Wow, man ! Too delicious.. The taste of the chutney's and sambar were unmatchable with any other places I had so far.. Finally, had a coffee. Quality and quantity of the coffee was worth the entire bill!! Such an impressive coffee. Along with the coffee cup, they also kept another cup with sugar cubes. Had two cubes of them dipped into the coffee cup and when stirred, they melted very quickly and gave a wonderful taste. Overall, fantastic experience. Worth it having food here!! Never mind the cost!

On our recent trip to Pondicherry we have visited Suruguru restaurant for breakfast. I’ve been hearing about this place from a few foodie friends and decided to try it for breakfast. Located right adjacent to Manakula vinayagar temple. We have ordered a Pongal, set of idli and Onion Rava dosai. Order was served quite quickly. Ghee Pongal was superb, and together with the sambhar and chutneys, it was very tasty! Special mention about the Kaara Chutney, it was awesome! The flavor of the ghee in the Pongal was subtle, yet too good. Tried idli next, it was soft and had a perfect texture, something that you get only when the consistency of the batter is spot on. Served with 3type of chutneys and sambar. The Onion rava dosa lived upto the expectations visually and was even better in taste. Served with 3type of chutneys and sambar. Finished with a coffee each, which costed 49Rs. each. It was okay, could have been hotter and cheaper. Paid just over 300 bucks in all, absolutely worth it. I would definitely visit again for a tasty breakfast and recommend it too!

A nice cozy, minimalistic, family feel restaurant you'll find near the beach area, menu is simple it has touch of a southern, continental and northern options. We've visited in the evening and it was packed with people, some were waiting. Service was prompt, their palak poori as recommended by the waiter was a hit. We too ordered it and it tasted really well. We also tried the idiyappam which are thin stringy rice noodles served with korma(curry) and a sweet milk based preparation. That too was really fresh and tasty, enough for 2 people. The items are priced well, you will need to wait a little due to the rush, also some items might be unavailable due to limited supply, which is good as it tells they serve & make fresh items only. Even with so much rush, place was superbly clean. Parking is ample, it is a free street area, that is enough and can house both cars and bikes. They accept cash, upi and card payment too.

Surguru restaurant in Pondicherry's White Town adds an exquisite touch to the aesthetic charm of the city. Our trip, born out of a casual group chat, was warmly welcomed by Surguru at Paradise Beach. The South Indian culinary experience at Surguru is nothing short of delightful, especially for an early morning breakfast. The restaurant effortlessly blends the old French colonial vibe with a subtle Tamil touch, creating an ambiance to be cherished. Among the must-tries are the Ghee Roast Dosa, a crispy delight that satisfies the taste buds, and the Podi Thatte Idli, offering a perfect blend of flavors. The authentic Filter Coffee is a treat for coffee enthusiasts, while the Puri and Sabzi add a homely touch to the diverse menu. Surguru stands out not just for its delicious offerings but also for the seamless fusion of cultures that makes dining here a memorable experience in the heart of Pondicherry's White Town.

The service was pathetic, we had to keep asking even for water. There were also long delays for just talking the order and evn more for delivering it. Worst was to having deal with mosquitoes. Yes, they would hover over your head inside the place. They should give a mosquito killing electric bat along with the plates so that we can sit and eat peacefully. Taste was not great either, we tried both south Indian but it was only average so thought maybe they are better at North Indian food and ordered pav bhaji . But when tried that it was worse. The pav was soaked in oil and the bhaji also had no taste and lots of oil. Only the rawa dosa was something that felt acceptable. Thankfully the pricing was decent. Stick to dosas and you will be a happy customer is what I understood.

I visited this restaurant since many visitors had recommended it and it was very close to where I was staying. All Surguru branches are located close to one another and are always packed. I found this place comparatively less crowded. Its kind of dark in here. I went there for only one item and that was Paper Dosa. I ordered orange juice to go with it. Service is moderately slow here. The food was okay as well. Instead of Dosa, I liked their chutneys best and wanted to know what were they. The person waiting my table knew what he was delivering and told me right away. There is a single seating place for solo travellers like me, the thing I liked most. I am not sure if I would visit this place the next time, but I didn't dislike the experience. That's the takeaway.
