This is one of those old establishments that enjoy prime location and therefore a steady clientele... So they just don't give a hoot. I cannot understand why they have such high ratings... maybe the expectations are really low from places like this... But they are not cheap... they should be held to much higher standards.
I used to love this place for simple, wholesome food... but the service is always poor. So I started going lesser and lesser because each time I came out from there feeling very upset.
First of all, they serve the food in random order after great intervals. They might come first with desert and then dal... and then you will have to wait for a really long time till you get roti etc. to eat... by which time the food has gotten cold. And if we say something e.g. I wanted to have the snacks first... they get annoyed and refuse to come back with the main course till you've asked at least 3 times.
If you go to a place like Sukanta... there is a logic and order to the food being served. They first give the chaat and serve you the drinks... and if you tell them you'd like to have dessert at the end, they don't keep bothering you again and again with it (an obvious courtesy that the bozos at Sahare clearly don't seem to understand). I love Sukanta because I feel taken care of by the staff... they're sweet and clearly want you to have a lovely time.
But Sahare... they don't give 2 hoots. Out of the 6 or 7 people serving me today (including the bespectacled manager)... there was only one guy who was courteous and considerate. The rest are rude, shameless and least interested in customer experience.
I've also noticed that their behaviour towards women is 10 times worse than towards men... I know... this is India... But when they have expensive prices... the least they can do is give good service.
Also they didn't have khichdi today. Their excuse is that they don't make it on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (Today is Wednesday, by the way)... Why? Especially when it's available online... just not in person? Their masala rice has SO MUCH garam masala... (their khichdi does too... but it's lesser)... I never go for it.
It's been months and months since my last visit... maybe it will be years before I go there again. I wish Sukanta was closer.
In my experience... the fish stinks from the head... The bad service is indicative of the management / owner's attitude. Till he gives a damn, things will stay the same. I've always associated Sahare with consistently pathetic service... and it seems unlikely that will change.
P.S. Check out their response to me. After such a detailed account of my experience... they still want me to reach out with "further" feedback. And not meeting"my" expectations is not the point... you guys don't meet basic, logical service expectations. Take a leaf from Sukanta's book... You'll don't even do 1% of what they do. It's not about the price. They have a lot of variety... It's about BAD service... BAD attitude. I am sure you'll will...
Β Β Β Read moreMummy's previous office was Commissioner Office and she kept coming here for different occasions with her colleagues. Mom dad had the food and wanted to give me and Nitin a treat here. We were here last evening after our tummy was full from McDonald's ππ. Mom din knw we had a lot of junk food at Camp McDonald's. She unexpectedly said let's go to eat out when we came to pick her. Our food at home was cooked but still she said this and we were shocked as mom's someone who hates junk or outside food and prefers homemade food. Eating dinner at 7 pm was something out of the world ππ
She had already told us it's thali system and I felt choti si thali hogi and maybe I cud share it but as soon as I entered the dining space saw a board 300 per thali. I could easily make out the quantity π and kept laughing as we already were full. We said yes coz mumma said let's go β€οΈ.
The staff is super responsive and quick the only thing lacking was they seemed so serious with no smile on their faces. One of them was scary after daddy talking to him he remained all normal. That doesn't mean they are scary but I would request the owner to talk with them once and advice them to smile at some point of serving the food as it makes the customer comfortable.
Coming back to the food. The food is superb, I'm a Maharashtrian so felt it bit fika in taste and I love slightly spicy food. If you are someone who is a vegetarian, Jain, Gujarati, Rajasthani this place is for you all. It has amazing service and the staff is on their toes with the serving plates and one can reorder again but they don't allow you to wait and the food is served beforehand. I love the cute bhakri and phulkas π€β€οΈ
The thali consisted of 1 bhakri and 2 phulkas, moong vegetable, Malpua, yellow potato vegetable, fried Karanji with some green peas stuffing, white and yellow kadi, dal, Paneer sabzi, green peas sabzi, salad, apple custard (tasted like shrikhand with fruits), dahivada, khichdi and rice with ghee. Mom and dad loves khichdi. I din taste it and had little rice. I'm not much in favor of thali's but this one is surely a must have if you are in Camp Area.. A bit pricey but worth the taste.
My favorite things from the thali - Karanji, Bhakri, Phulke, Malpua If you want to try something vegetarian or have arranged a reunion this place...

Price for thali : 300/- only
One of the most authentic thali restaurant for Gujrati & Rajasthani food. In farsan they served mutter rolls & dhokla which which were preety good but i honestly felt the variety can be improved, but taste was good. Coming to main course sabjis they served total 4 sabjis 2 dry & 2 gravies. Rajma was good in taste no issues, paneer was super soft & fresh gravy was very much similar to Rajasthani flavour don't expect food to be like Punjabi taste. Dry sabjis were also good cabbage sabji was something different & last sabji was sukhe aloo no issue in taste. 2 types of kadhis were served 1st was Rajasthani kadhi which is little salty & medium spicy another was authentic Gujrati kadhi sweet & spiced with cloves nothing else but amazing taste. Gujrati dal was served alongwith 2 types of rice steamed & veg pulao which were simple but pretty good in taste. Garmagaram fulkas & bajri bhakri were served with all sabjis. Main attraction were sweets malpua & fruit salad. Fruits were very freshly cut & even custard was perfect loved it. Malpuas i must say had these kind of Malpuas after long time which i usually had in other thali restaurants can't be said as malpuas but here you wil get authentic malpuas must taste. Overall...
