One of the best thali experiences I have ever had in life. The entire experience was very automated and easygoing. On entrance you pay for your food as per person system. It costed us ₹450 including GST per person for the meal. We were given with 2 entry tickets and a bill. You scan your receipt at the entrance and they will lead you to a hassle free food experience.
As I entered the quaint Maharashtrian thali restaurant, the aroma of spices and the sound of sizzling pans immediately transported me to the heart of Maharashtra. The ambiance was vibrant, adorned with colorful decor that reflected the rich cultural tapestry of the region. Seated at a comfortable table, I eagerly awaited the culinary adventure that was about to unfold. The menu promised a gastronomic tour of Maharashtra's diverse cuisine, and I couldn't wait to savor each dish. The thali arrived, an artistic display of various bowls and plates, each holding a different delicacy.
The journey began with the refreshing taste of Sol Kadhi, dhokla, puran poli with minty chuntney, garlic chutney, salad, pickles and dahi bhalle. Moving on to the main course, they provided us with ghee roti, poori, gatte ki sabji, paneer capsicum curry, green pea curry and dal. In the later courses of meal, the aromatic Basmati rice and dal khichdi was accompanied by a myriad of spiced and crunchy papad. My favourites were dhokla and Puran Poli, a sweet flatbread stuffed with a rich mixture of jaggery and lentils, added a delightful sweetness to the meal. The Bhakri, a dense millet flatbread, paired perfectly with Thecha, a fiery chutney made from green chilies and garlic, creating a symphony of flavors in my mouth.
Each bite was a harmonious blend of spices, leaving me yearning for more. To conclude this culinary voyage, the dessert section offered the iconic Rabdi kheer and a ladoo. The combination of these sweet treats brought a perfect end to the feast, leaving me with a sense of satisfaction and contentment.
As I bid farewell to the Maharashtrian thali restaurant, I couldn't help but appreciate the diverse and flavorful culinary heritage of Maharashtra. The experience had been more than a meal—it was a celebration of culture, tradition, and the exquisite flavors that make Maharashtrian cuisine truly...
Read moreLove this place for the veg thali Located behind Deccan Bus stop Pune the hotel has great connectivity with Public Transportation. The restaurant serves good to great quality of food. The staff is friendly and do not hold back for any dishes being served in the thali. I am staying this because certain hotel hold back on sweet or charge extra but not Sukanta. The servers may insist on you taking or trying something eg sweet dishes. We were there for a Maharashtrian food festival, so we had miniature thalipeet with loni butter(white butter) or makkhan. The thali had may items you can see in the photos I have attached. Enjoyed the strawberry rabdi and desi ghee ke Jalebi. As it was Maharashtrian week we also had Alu (taro leaf) subji served. You get a wide spread of dishes to eat and may landup wondering what to eat and what not We were served misal pav which was not that good.
If planning to visit please go early as the restaurant is famous and saying this may have a long queue if you visit during peak time. The staff needs a shoutout for the service as it prompt and believe in customer satisfaction. Lastly please do try the hand wash - the captain mentioned Hand wash kara du, I thought he would get a hot bowl but it wasn't the case, the servers got a Maharaja type set up ( sorry I do not have a photo) but you have a server pouring luke warm water being poured from a royal jug into a large bowl and one wash you hand in the flowing water. A different experience 😊
If your looking to treat you veggie friends this is the place to go too eat to your hearts content.
The thali cost ₹370 when you eat there and ₹600 if you have to parcel.
Card is accepted, discount asking or getting not accepted 😝.

Read moreSukanta Thali restaurant has came long way with their legacy of serving only unlimited vegetarian thalis from years. Its Gujarati Rajasthani style preparation.
Now a days the unlimited thali costs 450 rupees and kids thali is priced at 250 rupees.
The thali comprises of 30+ food items easily. If you have good appetite or eagerness to munch on thali with wide variety then this could be one of the must visit thali place in Pune 😋
What we like the most is phulka roti, khichdi topped with ghee, paneer sabzi, aamras in summer, anjeer or sitafal rabdi dessert rest of the year. Their kadhi and daal is sweet complimenting Gujarati Rajasthani style of preparation.
Couple of points to keep in mind 🤔:
This place is not having sufficient parking place compared to people visiting here. The approach to the restaurant is also chaotic in terms of narrow roads and scarce parking space.
Sukanta being popular place, be ready wait for 30-45 minutes easily so plan accordingly.
Now a days they have kiosk outside the restaurant where you have pay in advance then only your name will be added to waitlist, which is different than their old approach.
