Located within Harrisons Hotel in Nungambakkam, Thulsi Pure Veg is a fantastic dining spot with ample parking and valet service, making the experience all the more convenient. The restaurant serves a variety of cuisines, including Indian, Continental, and Oriental, providing a wide range of options for vegetarian food lovers.
Despite the crowd, the staff managed the flow quite efficiently. The owner and captain did an admirable job keeping things smooth, even though the starters did take some time to arrive.
For starters, we tried the Spice Dusted Lotus Stem with Cajun Seasoning, Spinach and Ricotta Spanokopita, and Spicy Corn on Toast. The standout was definitely the Spanokopita; it had a perfect balance of flavors with a delightful, flaky texture. We were hoping to try the Vol-au-vent Mushroom, but unfortunately, it was unavailable at the time.
Our main course consisted of Butter Phulka, Garlic Chilli Cheese Naan, and Paneer Kulcha. The paneer kulcha deserves a special mention – it was one of the best I’ve tasted, with a beautifully stuffed paneer filling. We paired these breads with Dal Makhani and Kolhapuri Subzi. The Kolhapuri subzi was a highlight with its rich, spicy flavors, while the dal makhani had a creamy consistency that complemented the breads perfectly. We ended the meal with Farmer’s Curd Rice, which provided a nice cooling finish to the spicy dishes. Unfortunately, the Siru Urulai Chettinad didn’t make it to our table due to a delay in the kitchen, so we had to cancel it.
Finally, we finished off with some hot filter coffee, which was quite good and served as a perfect end to the meal.
The ambiance, while a bit on the louder side due to the crowd, felt warm and welcoming. It’s a vibrant, popular spot, so the buzz is to be expected. Overall, Thulsi Pure Veg is a fantastic choice for vegetarian food lovers, especially those wanting to explore a variety of cuisines in one place. We will definitely be visiting with family and friends again to try out other specials and cuisine items on the menu. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to click photos this visit, but we’ll make sure to capture...
Read moreI usually avoid restaurants in a Hotel. Reason is, I believe you either sort out one or the other. Difficult to maintain both, and when there's a different restaurant, specialising in different cuisines, well it's like CSK(present) aiming for IPL Cup! Anyways my friends got me here. And one look at the menu, I figured out there's a lot of dishes cooked up here. Continental, Indian, mexican, italian all vegetarian dishes. One is asking for trouble! Cream of mushroom soup, looking thick & creamy but served bit lukewarm with goey croutons. It tastes fine until my tongue picked up few outer skins of garlic! Chef didn't have time to peel garlic! Caesar salad looked promising. Yes, that's all it did. Lettuce in sour mayo, with olives and half fried croutons ain't Caesar salad. I luckily ordered a masala dosai, which was done nicely. But chilled chutney in chennai was a first! The sambar was life saver, nicely done. The vegetable augratin was nice. The south mini meals and North thali, were nothing much to write about. Carrot halwa was good like homemade, I liked it. The stuffed paratha with cashew gravy was just about nice. Finished off with some fresh lemon soda. Nobody could get that wrong! Roughly paid about 3k+ , but somehow, it felt not worth it. Being a chef myself, actually ruins eating...
