Went there with very high expectations based on excellent google reviews from 4K+ folks. I am just wondering how many of them are really genuine. Starting with ambience, it looks like a home converted to a restaurant with an a/c section crammed with 8-10 tables. No complains here as such joint in hole places really serve delicious food. The place is clean so no complains there. But they keep salad and salan in buckets which are not changed each time a new customer comes so the serving spoons in these buckets may have left food from previous customer and half filled buckets definitely don’t look very good who knows what may have gone in. Now for the food. Ordered chicken biriyani, mutton biriyani, peppery mutton, chicken fried rice, egg kothu parotha and naan.
Chicken/Mutton Biriyani - Tasted the same average at best. Portion enough for one person. For a place which calls itself biriyani hut it defintely wasn’t out of the world.
Pepper Mutton - pathetic. Really hard overlooked pieces with barely any spices blended in the meat. Looked like they just took some kebab pieces and put in in pepper gravy. And the pieces themselves not sure if they were waste pieces of a goat.
Chicken Fried Rice - Average to Bad - clearly saw chicken tikka pieces shredded and put in fried rice. They shouldn’t have this on menu if they can’t make properly.
Egg Kothu Porotta - never had such soggy kothu porotta. The porotta was so soggy and wet that it didn’t taste like porotta but more like upmao. Not sure how they could go wrong with such a simple dish.
Naan- was ok
Prices are reasonable. The other strange thing are the waiters in the A/C room. They just keep staring at the customer while they are eating. Thankfully we were not the victims but I could see them standing and literally staring at tables for minutes.
Overall very bad experience with the taste. Came out really disappointed just wanting to change the taste...
Read moreAlright everyone seems to write positive about their briyani well i also agree with that and also not the worst and best or must try places in Coimbatore.. for the price the quality and quantity they maintain is pretty decent.
They're using bullet rice for briyani. Not too spicy and meat was soft. Just a ordinary briyani nothing to be hyped about. Moreover the only dish when ordered comes ASAP..
Apart from that they've to improve alot on their starters as we tasted the following
Mutton kola urandai which is not recommended for anyone. The reason is that is being fried once again what I meant is fried in oil more than once and the size of it is very small..
Chicken Monika which is something they've tried different but nothing more than a fried chicken mixed with some gravy and served semi dry but pretty much better than the mutton kola urandai.
Garlic chicken which is kinda decent. Chicken cooked is pretty soft.
Mutton Chuka which is not up to the mark..
They've included some fancy dishes like sizzlers and...
Read moreHMR Biryani Hut, Coimbatore is widely popular for its fantastic biryani. We were craving to try some of their dishes and ended up here for lunch. The parking was very tough and we had find a spot on one of the parallel roads and walk down to the place. It was very busy but we were lucky to get a table within fee minutes.
The biryani was delicious, a boiled egg with two big chicken pieces. Rice was flavoured well and the meat was fresh too. The quantity might be less but it’s surely sufficient for one.
Chicken 65 is very similar to the local chicken kebabs in Bengaluru and we absolutely enjoyed this crispy, juicy dish.
Egg Kalakki was a find for us! Never had this dish before but it surely was a great egg dish! Would love to try this more.
Egg Veech Parotta, again something different from the ordinary! It sort of gave the Mughalai parota vibes but way different. Again, do try this out when you are in HMR.
The service was up and down, sometimes they tend to get this dishes on time, while some...
