I was a regular visitor of velan kappa for last 1.5 yrs. My clinic is nearby and home just 5 min away. Me and my wife with kids come here atleast weekly 2 days night for coffee. Yesterday we went. I asked for a cutlet and coffee. My wife ordered samosa and coffee. When the cutlet arrived, it was so small and was in size of 2 five rupee coins. It's price was 20 rs. When I asked the people behind in the counter about that, they didn't respond. I shouted at them in front of everyone, they said reluctantly, "yes, it was 20 rupees". I was astonished. Didn't touch the cutlet and thrown it in waste basket and drank the coffee and left.
My wife went back to cashier and said, "we come here regularly because of the taste of ur coffee. Today u have disappointed us. Run business like this and u won't survive"
And she said to me, "it was our mistake Hari to come here. Aanandas is just around the corner. We should have gone there". Rs puram Aanandhas is where we used to have morning coffee occasionally. And they treat us very well beginning from security to manager. Less rate than velan also.

Read moreVellan kaappi serves only South Indian filter coffee, and that too real good taste.
Location area and parking wise : It's one of the best filter coffee in RS Puram.Their filter coffee is really tasty and reasonably priced. It is a small outlet with a standing arrangement for around 10 people. There is no parking near the shop, you need to park somewhere nearby and walk here.
The piping hot coffee is served with either with white sugar or palm sugar. I.e., It has two sugar options - Country sugar(brown sugar) , White sugar.
Coffee costs Rs 25 per cup (actually served in a traditional brass davara and tumbler)
I have really enjoyed the coffee, the brass Dabara set in which they offered coffee, the ambiance and the surrounding. I recommend Velan Kaappi
It has many more branches too in Coimbatore.

Read moreThis was a good Cafe till few months back. Their coffee is good and even though they don't have a parking lot, we used park in the opposite lane and come here with whole family.
Since their coffee is good and cheap, only rs. 25., people are flooding there.
Nowadays, service is very bad, they don't have dedicated staff to remove used utensils from tables, clean the tables and cashiers are rude Nowadays.
And their worst downfall are their snacks. Once they had just butter biscuits, which was cheap and tasty. Now they wanted to become big business barons, so they serve the world s smallest cutlet for price of rs 20.
Hope the owners of Velan sleep peacefully knowing that they are fleecing customers.
