Hot Chips Veg Restaurant — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

I recently visited this renovated restaurant that is known for many decades. It used to be the favorite spot in the busy Anna Nagar - Blue Star stop. I ordered phulka with paneer butter masala. The phulka was hard and could not be torn to pieces rather it broke. The paneer gravy lacked the spices and butter with the paneer being rubbery. We ordered chole bhature which took more than 20 minutes to be ready, bhature was hard and dripping with oil, chole was better than the paneer gravy. Disappointed with north indian dishes, we ordered idli that was served instantly with a mint chutney and coconut chutney with tasty sambar that filled our hearts. We ordered filter coffee that was cold, lacked flavor and sugar. I remember the long queues, piping hot and tasty food with aromatic filter coffee few years ago. Updated Dec 2023: Restaurant quality, quantity has come down. There are lot of / only Hindi ppl in kitchen , cashier and worst of all the cashier lady doesn’t even know how to charge a credit card in pos machine. They seem to have fired watchman , so finding a car parking is a nightmare without security support

Service has come down as well. Hot chips should change this establishment staff to bring back its old glory days

Food: Veg food good for Tiffen, lunch , dinner, snack, juice

Quality: Hygienic establishment

Must try: Bombay meals, Mini tiffen, Coffee, Daily combos

Good for: quick food , small group, bachelors

Have to say that this branch has retained its originality from when it probably started !!! Somebody visiting this place ,even after a 15 year gap ,will find very little difference to the looks and ambience, except the jaded, run down aspect of it.

It beats me how the management could let this branch to rot, considering the location in a prime area in Anna nagar. They need to swiftly renovate this place to bring in a contemporary look, to begin with.

The food quality is barely acceptable, but when considered with the staff body language, my firm recommendation is to give this place a miss;as an option for a family lunch/dinner place, for the time being.
