Worst Food Quality

During my latest visit, I ordered a chicken fried rice with a soup. The soup was average, neither particularly impressive nor disappointing. However, the chicken fried rice was a significant letdown. The dish featured marinated fried chicken, which turned out to be mostly the wheat outer coating, a common practice in lower-end eateries to cut costs. This not only compromised the taste but also the authenticity of the dish, which was far below the standards expected from a reputable restaurant like Indian Imperial.

This was my second visit to Indian Imperial. Unfortunately, my first visit also ended in disappointment, and it appears that the food quality has not improved over the two-month interval. The use of substandard ingredients and the lack of genuine chicken in the chicken fried rice are major drawbacks. It raises concerns about the expertise of the master chef, suggesting a background more suited to fast food rather than a quality dining establishment.

Not Value for Money

Despite the appealing ambiance, the poor quality of food makes Indian Imperial an unworthy dining choice, especially given its higher prices. Patrons expect better quality food for the money spent, and unfortunately, Indian Imperial does not deliver on this front.

Ambiance and Decor

Indian Imperial, a recently opened establishment in Kumbakonam, boasts a pleasant and inviting ambiance. The decor is tastefully done, offering a comfortable and clean dining environment that initially raises expectations for a memorable dining experience.

Good Service

The service at Indian Imperial was satisfactory. The staff were polite and attentive, although there seemed to be a lack of thorough knowledge about the menu. The service speed was decent, with the soup arriving promptly.

Overall Experience

My overall dining experience at Indian Imperial was disappointing. The ambiance and decor set high expectations, but the food quality fell drastically short. The use of cheap tricks like serving mostly wheat-coated chicken pieces in the fried rice is unacceptable for a reputed hotel.

Rating:★☆☆☆☆ (1/5)

Recommendations for Improvement:

Revise the menu to ensure all ingredients used are of high quality. Reevaluate the kitchen staff and possibly hire a more experienced chef. Focus on delivering authentic dishes without cutting corners on ingredients.

Final Verdict

Indian Imperial has potential with its lovely ambiance, but the quality of the food must significantly improve to match the expectations it sets. Currently, it's not a place I would recommend, unless substantial changes are made to their food quality.

Even if they offer free accommodation, dont accept. One of the worst . No fans in the rooms . They think the hotel is in Ooty or Kodaikanal. TV channels can be played only through you tube. Basic amenitieis such as soap, tooth brush , soap were also not provided. Simply, the Receptionist say that they are yet to order these items. The handwash in the bathrom, the ewater goes opposite side. At 8 pm I asked upto what time the restaurant remain open. He said upto 10 pm. By 9.15 again I asked, he said the restaurant is under renovation and we have to have our food outside,. Contradictory response. The wooden portion below the wash basis is broken. You need to call minimum three times over phone to get a response. Pathetic service. Car parking is not within the premises. You have to park opposite side. We parked simply on the road itself. Had a plan to stay till afternoon but considering all these facilities, we checked out at 7 am itself. The lodges would have been better. We were disappointed by seeing the photos on the app. They advertised including complimentary breakfast when they do not have...

I went to their restaurant for a quick dining. The ambience was pleasant and appealing to the eyes. Good and quiet with instrumental music it was soothing the ears. The hand wash was neat and clean. No trash around. Kitchen isolated from the restaurant so no noises from there. Placed an order for a local non veg soup and a chicken starter. Food is palatable and was ok. Still can't rate as exceeding expectations though. I personally felt the soup was of a very low quantity. This is in general with many multicuisine restaurants. Unlike China they don't serve a large soup. Which could have been otherwise a very good experience. The owners should start thinking towards this soon enough. Mine was served in just a COFFEE cup (with a handle) kinda thing. It was not the general soup bowl. And the soup spoon was a miniature and was a mismatch. Different concept but the less quantity killed my apetite. There was a hint of sweetness in the chicken starter, which should have been spicy. A...

**Worst Dining Experience!** I recently visited Indian Imperial Restaurant Kumbakonam and ordered the Briyani, Soup, Dragon Chicken, and Pepper BBQ for lunch, and I have to say, it was a complete disappointment. The food was tasteless, and the quality was far below expectations. The Briyani lacked flavor, the soup tasted bland, and the Dragon Chicken was dry and overcooked. The Pepper BBQ was the final straw—chewy and not seasoned well. To top it off, the service was equally terrible. The staff was inattentive and took forever to bring our food. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Save your money and your taste buds! --- Veshnu

Briyani is not up to the mark. Hydrebadi chicken gravy recipe ordered, but it is not as same. Chef should know the recipes of all types of else name it as simple. Only Basmati briyani is there, but the flavour needs to improve. Kebabs and starters taste also need to improve. The dining hall looks royal. Clean and hygiene neat atmosphere maintained. Service employees and other working representatives are very cordial. Parking is available by roadsides.
