A review after long time! Quite frankly, due to work and everything else I've stopped accepting review invites but when @mainlandchina sent me an invite, I couldn't resist myself! Let's not talk about decor, we all know the decor and it is to the point and that's not why you are here for. Let's dive in. Back in 2014, the dishes that were introduced are making a comeback on the menu. Those who are not aware of it, the classics are coming back and rather have come back on the menu. We ended up having mainly starters. The quality of the dimsums at Mainland China has really reached a level of excellence rivaling any 5 star Chinese. I ordered my favourite, Stir Fried Water Chestnut- Hunan Style, Stir Fried Vegetables with 5 Spice & Edamame Vegetables Dumplings with Truffle Oil. What I admire is the creativity with the vegetarian appetisers. Roshan Rai, the man behind dumpling bar kept smiling at us and he knew I've fallen in love with dumplings, one more time! From the other side of veg, we also ordered a beautiful dish- Sizzling Lamb with Cumin which has a ‘Distinctive Indianess’ to it but is apparently from Kunming in China. I like the light stir fry technique, without sauce and the lamb was really cooked to a perfection. Trust me, I don't eat lamb usually because of the texture and this I had to resist myself not to over-eat so that I can move on to the other dishes. If you love meat, you should definitely order this. What I have always loved about Mainland China is whether you want a more traditional take on Chinese (don’t we all hanker for a Lung Fung Soup or a Hot & Sour at sometime?) or really eclectic regional Chinese dishes, you will find them both in this restaurant. Do ask for guidance from the senior staff who are very well trained and are able to guide people according to their taste buds.Don’t miss the Coconut Dumpling in Honey Butter Sauce, a much better version of the traditional Maharastrian modak; and Vanilla Ice-cream and the Hot Chocolate Spring Rolls. My advice, stick to the dumplings. There’s so much that you can write and experience from an establishment like such and I’m happy that in every bit possible this is truly the best place to enjoy both modern and classic...
Read moreThe interior of this place is very tastefully done with simple yet elegant decor. They have a niche in mumbai when it comes to serving authentic pan asian food. Each & every protocol considering the current ongoing situation regarding hygiene & safety was very well taken care of. Staff here is not only polite but also well knowledgeable about the kind of food that's being served here which again makes it easier for customers to decide what they want to order. We ordered certain all time favourites of ours from the menu ⚡Orange piroska - Orange juice +lemon juice, mixed with orange pieces & muddled fresh mint leaves. ⚡Watermelon & cilantro crush - fresh watermelon juice with hint of ginger & cilantro leaves. ⚡Eight treasure sweetcorn soup - Mild broth which was thick & full of flavours from fresh cilantro, white pepper and loaded with lots of exotic veggies like zucchini, carrots, american sweetcorn, bell peppers, tiny shrimps. ⚡Lung Fung Soup - All time favourite. Mild chicken flavoured soup topped with frothy eggwhite foam. Too good. ⚡Basil Flavoured Chicken Dumplings - Everybody knows they serve the best dumplings in town. Loved the perfect flavour combination of fresh basil with minced chicken. ⚡Jiangs Chilly Chicken - Unlike your regular chilly chicken, here chicken & capsicum were cut into strips and tossed in soy garlic sauce which wasn't overly salty. Addition of ginger Julien enhanced the flavour. ⚡Chicken in roasted garlic sauce - Diced chicken cubes & garlic thins tossed in tabanjob sauce infused with strong garlic flavour which was tangy & mildly spiced. ⚡Chilly basil fish in claypot - Batter fried fish stirred in soy chilly based sauce which was sweet and spicy. Addition of fresh basil leaves added extra freshness to the sauce. ⚡Wok tossed hakka noodles - Classic preparation of perfect hakka noodles tossed with celery, carrots, chicken chunks, scrambled egg. ⚡Honey noodles with roasted almonds and ice cream - All time favourite, crispy crunchy sticky noodles topped with roasted almonds with chilled vanilla ice...
Read moreMainland China at Viviana Mall in Thane-West is a delightful fusion of luxurious Thai-Chinese ambiance and comfortable seating. The staff's guidance in suggesting dishes adds to the experience, especially if you opt for the unlimited buffet.
The starters, served tableside, showcase authentic Chinese dim sums that tantalize the taste buds with its yumminess. The Lung Fung soup, though slightly watery, surprises with its flavorful egg white fry. The diced chicken with assorted pepper might lack the pronounced assorted pepper flavour but compensates with its overall deliciousness and yumminess.
Moving to the mains, the Tsing Hoi chicken and Mandarin fish in gravy complement steamed rice exceptionally, creating a mouthwatering ensemble. As for desserts, the honey noodles combined with vanilla ice cream provide a heavenly blend of crispness and sweetness, while the chocolate rolls may sometimes be overwhelming with their chocolate chunks.
The continuous and consistent serving on the my table was something that we lacked and made a bit of disappointment as we had to wait for the food to arrive . Priced reasonably at 745 for a 10-course lunch, the experience is exceptional, especially for non-vegetarians indulging in sumptuous dim sums and flavorful chicken starters. While I didn't explore the vegetarian selection, the variety offered assures a balanced culinary adventure. Overall, a fabulous dining journey with a mix of standout dishes and a comfortable sitting.
