Rang De Basanti Dhaba & Bar, Diamond Plaza — Restaurant in West Bengal

Two stars would have been too generous. Hear me out. I do not know what kind of fraudulence goes on in there. Here are a few we faced:

1.) Butter tandoori roti had no butter in it. Moreover, they gave a glistening effect of the butter on top using oil. On complaint, they seemed indifferent, and on ordering a second round later, was welcomed with rotis giving off a delicious aroma of butter, which made it pretty clear what was going on before the complaint. People around also faced the same.

2.) We ordered half a plate of butter chicken for the two of us, since they advertised full one would consist of ten whole pieces, which cost around 485. Half consisting of 5 whole pieces cost 365 INR. Seemed reasonable. Not when the order came finally. The five pieces were hardly the size of small orange slices. This really shocked us.

3.) Finally, After spending around 600 INR for two people, we were still left hungry, which you shouldn't be here at a food-lover haven such as Kolkata, so unwillingly, we further ordered for a plate of Chicken Bharta. I know taste is a relative topic, but I kid you not when I say, we had to leave the whole thing almost untouched. Had maybe a few small, scaredy scoops since it was quite a pocket pinch and it hurt having to waste so much of money in one place to be honest. I do not know for sure what caused the unbearably horrifying taste which I'm finding hard to get rid of even after the whole day has passed, but to give you an idea, it tasted a combination of a little bit of pee and bleaching, mixed together with what maybe assumed to be chicken and lots of unnecessary cheese. Total disaster.

Something I would like to clarify: I wouldn't go totally harsh on them. The staff behavior is good and polite. Though they seemed non-reactive to our complaints, what were they supposed to do exactly except make poker faces? Also, I wouldn't go as far as to say that the quality of food was crappy. No, not crappy. Except for the chicken bharta maybe, where I have no clue what was going on, the quality seemed okayish.

What I hated was their guts. How they can deviate so much from what they advertise( by means of verbal communication through the staffs). Also, how stupid they think we, the consumers are. Most of all, how unreasonable the cost chart is. Spent around a 1000 bucks, inclusive of tip, came out slightly hungry still.

TLDR: reasonable, no; quantity, low; quality, average, below average in some cases.

Well initially the food of RDBD was good in taste but now it has declined drastically and today Im writing this after missing my work due to DYSENTRY. Initially I had dined with my friends twice and found it good. So I decided to give a treat to my family from this place. I also received a ₹200 Off discount voucher which had to redeemed by 31/07/23. So I thought to give a try without any delay. But I had not thought that it was going to be a mistake and a horrible experience. I Successfully wasted my Hard Earned money, Successfully wasted my respect infront of my family.(They think I have no choice of taste) and gained a horrible pathetic experience in return. And RDBD Successfully lost 1 and more customers because of their behavior and their Food Quality. I will never step into any of their outlets and never advice anyone to dine there. Baki aapki marzi!! And you can read below to know the story in detail. To begin with - "RDBD Management sucks!!" And food? What a pathetic quality. Firstly they charged me TWICE for Parcel Packaging. One before applying GST and another after applying GST. But when I reported to them they were giving excuses like the price is written twice but not counted. Then I directly handed them the RECEIPT and asked them to do the calculation. They calculated and went inside the kitchen. Dont know what they discussed but later returned me the excess amount. DON'T SKIP!! This was just the 1st part of the story. Picture is still left. They gifted me a Big Intact Full Size GARLIC (Kachha Garlic) inside the container of Mutton Champaran. Maybe they wanted us to use it for cooking at home the next day. Nice. The taste of the dish - Mutton Champaran did NOT taste like it did before. It was simply Tasteless RED color gravy with pieces of BONES and a few meat lingering to it. We had also taken Lachha Paratha (1st time I tried it in my life) and horrible experience. It was simply a burnt circular piece of thick Atta ROTI. The Kolkata Chicken Bharta has also deteriorated in taste. The butter Naan was good. (Only good thing). Oh yes they charge ₹50 for 1 litre Aquafina Bottle which I buy for ₹20 outside Diamond Plaza. Isme bhi chuna lagaya h mujhe. Finally I would suggest that its your call you want to visit here or not. •Cardamom "n" cinnamon chai (Classic milk tea with pulverize of Cardamom & cinnamon,it's a great addition on milk tea ,just perfect)
