That Super Special Butter Appam
On my trip to Coimbatore I met some lovely Foodies. One of them suggested that we try breakfast at this small hole in the wall tiffin place called Mahaveer Tiffin Mess. I couldn't even find a location tag here, it's that local. We were so glad that we skipped the pityful breakfast at @radissonblu & ate an amazing breakfast of butter masala dosa, butter dosa, onion sevai. Whilst all of the dishes we ate were awesome, this really really stole the show.
A Coimbatore speciality think of a super thick yet sooooper soft Appam cooked in ghee. It has a very crisp crust while the inside is super soft. I'm not doing this dish justice. Trust me. You want to eat this at least once in your life if not repeatedly. They serve it with 3 chutneys (not in photo) & sambar on a banana leaf.
Goodness I'm craving it now!!! Thank you @so_coimbatore for introducing us to this amazing place & for treating us to a fabulous most memorable...

Amazing Butter Appam (they call it BA) is something that we shall try next time.
We had Podi Dosai, Plain Dosai and Onion Sevais. All for 189!. Served with three very good chutneys and a unique "sambhaar". Very limited tables so we waited for 20 minutes and the akka kept informing us that the table will be ready soon. Quite a clean place though it is tiny. Lots of Gujarati, Rajasthani, Marwadi customers there seem to be regulars. Very popular even at 2100-2220 hrs.
They are closed on Mondays am told. Amazing how these small joints have managed to thrive in this otherwise glitzy world sheerly based on their diligence in giving good products and great service. Hats...
Read moreThe first negative point is that they don't serve sambar in the evenings. They serve something called Thakkali sambar, but in my opinion it's just plain Thakkali chutney only, they may call whatever they want. And that Thakkali chutney is also very pathetic in taste. Other three chutneys were ok. Masala dosa was good but very small. Adai was ok only and very thin. Butter roast was ok. As sevai got over, we couldn't taste it. But someone in the nearby table was complaining about the quantity of sevai, it was very less. Butter aappam was ok. Nothing much to talk about the ambience as it's a outhouse converted into hotel (like a mess). But for that, and the quality/quantity the price is a bit high. Overall, its a overhyped restaurant, I went because of the good reviews. But I will not...
