Visited this place yesterday Eternal, which it’s owned by and part of Nithya Amritham, the ground floor is Nithya Amritham with QSR form and sweets section and 1st floor is Eternal which is refined type of restaurant and few more cuisines you get in Eternal than Nithya Amritham and price is also higher in Eternal.
Coming to Eternal restaurant, tried the:-
(A)-Badam ka Shorba; the soup was decent due to tad sweetness and nuttiness of almonds and dry fruits but simultaneously it was clawing with spices such as cinnamon, cloves and cardamom, they where quiet dominating literally than the soup, it was decent but not the best.
(B)- Paneer galouti kebab; this was good with soft paneer Lucknowi/awadhi style kebabs which was served with mint chutney but simultaneously it could have been moist, it was just tad dry, but still recommended to try this and its signature dish from Eternal.
(C) Malai Broccoli; This was the great amongst the soups and starters we ordered, it was moist, succulent and it was rich with loaded cream and cheese too which was melted and charred to perfection, it’s definitely the best once, go for it, if you love broccoli and cheese, it’s superb.
(D) Chinese Sizzler; this was the only main course we tried, and that was great too, it has Sautéed or stir fried Asian vegetables with vegetable fried rice and phuket cottage cheese/ paneer; the paneer was tender, succulent and moist with great marination of spices with fried rice and vegetables in sizzling form.
(E) Lime mint mojito; it was good but not the wow ones, could have this again with chillness of ice cubes.
(F) Sizzling Brownie cake with vanilla ice cream; at last this stunning dessert, it was exceptionally excellent dessert with chocolate sauce, it tasted great and a must try dessert at Eternal restaurant.
My overall experience on food can be improved more, but it was still good, the team have taken care well, the service was also great and atmosphere was electrifying.
My ratings on food and other overall criteria is 3.5/5 or 7/10, the quantity can be more and taste of some dishes could be enhanced especially the soups and I found the price bit steep overall.
I will visit again at Nithya Amritham for sweets section and ground floor restaurant. I will also visit Eternal again, to give another chance for other dishes as well on the basis of my first experience some off them where absolutely outstanding and few must be improved.
It started decently but ended well, team Nithya Amritham and Eternal Restaurant, All the Best and do the great work will come again very very soon and will again mention my experience and edit if possible in this review.
Edit:- Latest update
After few days, I visited eternal and Nithya Amirtham again, just checking the Nithya Amirtham experience in separate review and ratings.
So I just again came for couple of starters this time and to be honest it was out of the park, and mind boggling, so must haves are:-
A good quality all-vegetarian restaurant with plenty of Jain options (mostly items which can be customised for a Jain diet upon request) which are clearly signposted with a green hand symbol.
Here is how the items fared: STARTERS Nellikai soup - Average at best. We didn't get much of a nellikai flavour despite this being signposted as one of their signature items. We would suggest skipping this. Pudina Babycorn Dry - delicious and went down very well with our group. Masala Papad - Not much by way of masala, just diced onions and tomatoes. Chopped coriander and sev would have improved this offering significantly, that said it wasn't bad at all. Sweet Potato Fries - We enjoyed these. They were served with a mild cheese sauce, and an eggless mayo dip that was spicy for some reason. The waiter informed us that there is no egg used anywhere across the menu - sharing in case this is useful for those reading this review.
MAINS Hakka Noodles - Very well cooked, tasty even before adding a side. Definitely recommend this dish and if your party has people who can't handle spice (heat), we would suggest this item on its own. Dal Tadka - Simple and delicious dal. Went down very well with the phulkas. Plenty of garlic in this one, so garlic-lovers, rejoice! Phulkas - The standout item on this menu out of everything we ordered. Some of the softest, best phulkas we have tasted, straight out of a dhaba in texture and flavour. Funny how the simplest dishes turn out to be the best ones sometimes. Our compliments to the chef! We would visit again just to eat these once more.
DRINKS Fig & Banana Shake - Somewhat optimistically named, this was mostly a banana shake with some fig syrup poured down the sides of the glass. We were hoping for figs blended in. Taste wise, this was good. Watermelon juice - As expected, a refreshing fresh juice.
The service was good, but requires you to speak in Hindi which luckily we were able to do. The wait staff were polite but barring one or two people were mostly not able to speak in English which made communicating our dietary requirements (a sesame allergy and a vegan diet) a bit of a challenge. Staff do not recognise what a vegan diet is but were helpful once we talked them through it.
We booked for and arrived at 7.30pm on a Friday evening. The restaurant was practically empty until 8.30pm or so and then slowly started filling up but there was still plenty of availability. If you like the place to yourselves and very little noise, we suggest booking early in the evening.
On the whole we would revisit and this time explore the south indian menu + of course reorder those...
Read moreFood: Paneer bhurji Khakra - Bite-sized khakhra topped with mildly spiced paneer bhurji (Indian style) and grated cheese; tangy and soft but the khakra got a bit soggy from the masala 😐
American corn cheese balls - Crispy American-style balls filled with gooey cheese (tasted like parmesan) and crunchy corn on the inside; the dip was OK but on the whole, this was a decent starter 😊
Veg Nachos - Not sure why they dazzle the nachos with loads of cheese eventually making them lose their crunchiness!! This was topped with olives, salsa, herbs, and cheese; a bit crunchy but saucy on most parts, MEH!! 🤐
Mac and cheese pasta - A very aromatic pasta with cheese yet again but the biggest flaw was the amount of sauce. What was supposed to be saucy, got dry and that changed the consistency of the dish. No complaints about the flavors but the base of this dish was not right 🤔
Pan fried veg noodles - Mandarin style noodles thereby a bit spicy; loaded with exotic veggies and Chinese sauce; also crunchy like a Chinese bhel, was GOOD!! 😋
Elaneer halwa - Hot and soft like a jelly, so smooth and sweet topped with roasted cashews, hints of elaneer taste but predominantly this was a super good Halwa 🥰
Ambiance/ Price: Located in the prime spot of Chennai, this place is located on the first floor where we've Nithya Amritham on the ground floor. They have a great setup with beautiful lighting which sets the mood but, the crowd and the murmur all the time pull you down during the wee hours. They also have decent seating space with a valet parking facility. The service was decent but the prices were on the higher end when considering the food; could've been better.
