After living in Nyuh Kuning now for around 8 months and eating here at least 20 times this place is a bit hit and miss.
The Good
No tax
Best quality Sushi at super cheap prices along with freshish fish every day.
Nyat Nyat Balinese grilled fish, white snapper with Balinese basa genup is amazing and is most times as fresh as it can get in Ubud.
Other dishes that are usually very good are, seafood basket, Tuna Steak (however had this last week and it was tasting off sent it back it was disgusting) Their care factor 0%
Grilled prawns, pepes, seafood salad is good, calamari in butter is usually good, Vegetable curry is always good, Ikan Bakar is good and all the Indo/slash Balinese dishes are good and reliable.
The Bad
The service is soooo bad and soooo slow, you will often not even be aknowledged for a very long time after being seated.
The food takes literally forever to come out.
The beer is not cold ever (they put mine in the freezer for me now)
Its literally impossible to get the staffs attention, they do ignore people when they feel like it.
I've literally seen new tourists standing in the garden area at their tables waving their hands trying to get a servers' attention to order for 10 or so minutes. (Granted it was funny to see)
Do not sit at a table that is anywhere other than in front of the cashier.
If you do you will be waiting for literally 30min or more for the staff to even aknowledge you, let alone serve you.
In summary if you understand what it is and are prepared to wait,etc...it can be very good food.
Sushi is perfect and...

But I have to say that the service at this place tonight was bad, really bad. When we came nobody noticed us. Three staff members were standing in the bar laughing. Another staff member who were serving other guests had to tell the staff by the bar to help us.
We ordered some food and it was super good. We did order more sushi, and we waited for 15-20 minutes and still no food. One of the staff members came and asked how the food was and we said that we hadn’t got our second order. She apologized and went away. After another 10-15 minutes she came back and said that they had to cook more rice, and we had to wait additionally 10 minutes.
We asked for the bill and left.
I liked the vibe and the food at Warung, but the staff need...
Read moreFOR JAPANESE TOUR GROUPS ONLY. Everyone else should STAY AWAY. Individual, non-japanese diners are ignored and then served cold food while watching Japanese tour groups receive excellent service and hot food. Our food (which had to be sent back twice for arriving stone cold) was overcooked & unsalted while salads were undressed with soy sauce the only salad dressing offering on request. I can't imagine the Japanese tour groups were receiving the same - they looked pretty happy, but then they were served by dedicated staff who did not serve the rest of us. The manager ran away when I tried to ask what was going on. Highly recommended if you are a Japanese tour group. A big no-no for...
