If you're looking for an authentic Sundanese dining experience in Bandung, this place is highly recommended. They serve a broad variety of dishes with semi self-service style: no menu list provided, just pick your selected food from the buffet and put it on your vintage tin plates. Some waiters behind the trays will help you explain the dishes names if you're unfamiliar with Sundanese food, and warm your food upon request. After you finish selecting, show your food to the cashier and pay. They do not only serve typical 'warung nasi Sunda' food such as nasi liwet, pepes, ayam kampung goreng, empal, perkedel, tahu tempe, sayur asem, tumis daun singkong, tumis jengkol, pete bakar, various kinds of sambel etc, but also some refreshing beverage and dessert choices: es goyobod, es cincau, es cendol, kue balok, etc. Expect a rather long queue especially in busy lunch hours; it's seriously hard to decide which food you're going to pick because they all look tempting and taste as good as their appearance. You can sit at regular tables or enjoy your meal in lesehan area (limited space). Price is slightly above average compared to another warung nasi (we spent about Rp 250k for 5 people), but definitely worth the experience.

As someone who loves Sundanese food, this restaurant is always at the top of my list whenever I'm in Bandung. The variety of dishes available is impressive, and I always find something new to try each time I visit. The taste of the food is really good, with a nice balance of flavors that really highlight the ingredients used in each dish. One thing that really sets this restaurant apart, though, is the sambal. The sambal is extremely flavorful and really packs a punch, adding an extra layer of spice and heat to every bite. Overall, I would highly recommend this Sundanese restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. The ability to pick and choose your own dishes from a wide range of options is a great concept, and the taste and quality of the food are definitely worth trying. And don't forget to try the sambal – it's one of the best I've ever had!

Nasi Bancakan is located across the street from the hotel where we were staying. The restaurant has a homely touch, set up in the living room of a big Indonesian house, rich in local culture. We especially loved the dish Pepes Tahu & Pepes Jamur. The desert which was glutinous rice balls in ginger soup (sweet) was my favourite. At first, I was reluctant to try as I was not a fan of the mentioned two ingredients. But when I tasted it, my eyes lit up and I finished the whole thing. We had to take more for to try. We liked the restaurant so much that we went back again the next day. The otak-otak was good too. For a proper restaurant like this, the price was surprisingly not high. We spent around SGD20 each time and there were 3 of us! It is considered mid-range in that city but to us, it is cheap-eats.

Came here after Friday prayer. I love how there isn't any smoking area, I can actually eat in peace without needing to inhale fumes. When you arrive, make sure you find yourself a table before lining up to get your food. There was no long queue during the time of my visit, we ordered Nasi Liwet, Gepuk, Paru, Rempeyek Udang, Tumis Jamur, Tumis Cumi, Teri Kacang, Tahu, Tempe (everything you see on the photo for approx 100k). Tumis Cumi was too salty, and for Gepuk next time no need to reheat since it ended up being fried. Cups of tea were free of charge & you can refill as much as you'd like. Table is perfect for 2, but above that better to choose lesehan.

The food at Bancakan may appear simple like ordinary sunda restaurants but you will be surprised when you go inside the restaurant. The wide range of cuisine at Bancakan will drop your jaw, you can see it on attached photos below. When you go inside, you will go to the main courses area which at least consisting 20+ types of cuisines. After that you move to the salad and sambal area which are served with three main sambal. For the closing you can choose several drinks like cendol, cincau, and goyobod. Then you are able to pay at the cashier using QRIS supported payment such as gopay, dana, or ovo.

The Legendary Nasi Bancakan in Bandung. This place is famous for a long time. For you who liked Sundanese foods, you'll like this place. The food is good (and sweet because Sundanese cuisine is always sweet), there's also 'saung' seatings (seats with no chair, so you have to sit like you sit on a carpet). Free drinks (only for water and tea, free refill!) There's also praying room, sinks, toilets, and features pictures of Sundanese famous figure. There's also traditional coffee and the parking space is big. The place is located on the sides of the West Java Legislative Assembly (DPRD Jawa Barat).
