Duck Kitchen Restaurant — Restaurant in Batam City

Went to the one at Nagoya Hills.

Service: The place was practically empty (3 tables occupied, including mine) but they took so long to serve our orders. One bowl of rice came with a very long strand of hair. The server lady saw it but continued to serve. Asked her to change the bowl of rice and she looked shocked. Reassured her that we really want to change that bowl of rice, and thankfully she went back to change it (made sure she did).

Food: It was good once upon a time, now it is just not worth the effort to come and try it. The duck was so so, even though it is Duck Kitchen. The fish was not fresh.

Atmosphere: The staff lack motivation and looked like they did not want to be there.

Ordered the following: Spicy stinky bean with silver fish and beancurd (65) Mala style roasted duck quarter (91) Deep fried baby French bean with salted eggs (55) Hainan rice (9) Chinese tea (25) [Jasmine tea]

The first dish was good; second was a little disappointing as duck was their signature dish, duck meat was not juicy and we need to mix it with the mala ingredients on our own to make it mala duck; third dish would be for those who don’t like vege; hainan rice was surprisingly decent, not oily but still fragrant; while I expected puer to be the typical choice of Chinese tea, Jasmine wasn’t bad too.

Service was good, food came pretty quickly. Decent lunch venue...

Dined there 5 August 2024. Ordered seafood horfun, staff cannot even unload the plate off the tray cuz they said it was too hot. I touched it and it was just warm... then few mins after we found a huge piece of plastic wrapper. Supervisor/server just came and said sorry oops. No service recovery nothing else was done. We paid the full bill and left. Other items on the menu. Curry seafood rice. Nasty. Salted egg yolk bun. Its just pure custard and its also hard. For a restaurant that specialises in duck. The duck was tough and just in the level of edible. For the very first meal in Batam, it was a disappointment. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND...
