VOI Vegan Restaurant And Pastry Shop — Restaurant in City of Medan

I visited this place twice. The first time was okay. Food was served in okay time. The second time I visited (today), I've never been this mad in a restaurant just simply wanting to EAT.

I came at 11.45, tables were still empty, only two are equipped. Ordered right away, we ordered 5 things from the menu. 10 minutes later, one of the people came to inform us that the pizza is "Finished". I said okay then, since we still had 4 things left. Then a few minutes later a group of family came into the restaurant, sitting right beside my table. Not even 10 minutes after they sat, PIZZA was served on their table. I held it in. Thinking.. is this some kind of local connection?? But anyway I didn't complain yet and still waited. After another 15 minutes later, the table beside me has finished their pizza, yet none of our food came out. But all of sudden, at the same time, MORE FOOD was served on the table beside me. They are really special, I thought lol. Of course I've HAD ENOUGH. With all due politeness we said we wanted to pay for our drinks and I brought up about why they lied that the pizza is finished, one of the waitress answered, "This is not done by us. It's people at the back." Okay. I was so mad and felt humiliated. We said again we wanted to PAY. Another waitress came and told us "But but the pasta is almost done. If you want it quick, do you want to change your orders to pasta all?" WHAT??? That means beside our Pasta, they haven't been making ANY OF OUR FOOD?? Well, to sum up it's been 1 hour sitting inside, with no food AT ALL. They just said "SORRY" without any other explanation. They...

Arrived at the restaurant 11.40 when only 2 TABLES were occupied, we ordered 5 dishes including PIZZA. Then 10 minutes later, the waiter came and told us the pizza is SOLD OUT. We said okay. After not too long, other customers came and filled the restaurant. The TABLE NEXT TO MINE which just came in was given the pizza when we were the one who ordered first. Wow. Strange, but we held in and wait for the other 4 dishes. The pizza on the next table finished and their other orders were served again. When NOT A SINGLE ONE of our orders were served. Then other tables food were given out too, when ours didn't. We couldn't hold it anymore and ask the waiter NICELY about our food and the pizza. The waiter told us that "the kitchen is the one who decide that" and we said okay and told her to serve our food faster. Cause at that time, we have been there for 45 minutes and not a single dish is served. Another waiter came and asked us, "Would you like to CHANGE the other dishes to pasta too? Cause pasta is faster than other dishes." Oh good, that means they didn't even process our food yet when we have waited for almost an hour. We couldn't wait more and paid for the drinks only, when we paid, the waiter didn't even try to explain what happened and just said "SORRY". What a really bad service you...

Easily the best vegan food in Medan (and honestly in Sumatra!) EVERYTHING on this menu is made fresh, in-house and with no canned/frozen ingredients. Everything is vegan! The mock meat is truly the best I’ve had in Asia- in fact, my meat-eating partner LOVED their fake Chinese glazed pork.

The owner/chef is only 24 and went to culinary school in Malaysia. He then worked for the Shangri-La Luxury hotel in Kuala Lumpur, helping develop personal vegan menus for VIP guests! He has a brilliant background in fine dining and cooks this casual food with such love and technique!
