Well established french restaurant in Jakarta with nice quiet ambiance. They occasionally have different tasting menus for dinner, but this time I tried their lunch set. šSudirman Taste 7.5/10 Service and Ambiance 8/10 Price $$$ šāā¬Will revisit
Lunch Set - Quartre Cours (2pax - 400k each) Le Champignon au Gratin (7/10) Baked portobello mushroom with beef pastrami, watercress, and walnut salad. Portobello had a nice meatiness that was complemented by the pastrami and cheese. The crusty top part was really nicš.
Les Escargots a la Bourguignonne (6.5/10) Snails in shell baked in garlic herb butter on toasted walnut bread. Removing the shell was such a hassle hahaha. Smells very buttery but personally would prefer some citrus to cut through the richness.
La Salade au Thon Rouge (8/10) Rare seared sashimi grade tuna carpaccio, baby romaine, aioli dressing, parmesan chips and cherry tomato. This one had such nice plating. Perfectly seared fresh tuna with nice sides of salad. Like how they incorporate all the different textures from the crunchy chips and lettuce against creamy dressing.
Le Filet de Dorada Rose (7/10) Pan fried red snapper fillet, couscous semolina, confit cherry tomatoes & paprika jus. The confit and jus were perfectly caramelised and resulted in a delightful sweet sauce that works well with the snapper. Not a fan of couscous so would have preferred other grain/sides.
Le Steak Frites (7/10) Grilled black angus grain fed beef sirloin french fries, mesclun lettuce with marchand de vin sauce. Since itās sirloin cut, I expected the thick fatty layer on the sidesš¤§. Regardless of my preference for leaner cut, this was actually good, cooked perfectly to rare and quite easy to bite into while having sone meatiness to it.
LāAssiette de Fromage (7/10) Assorted french cheeses, we got comte, roquefort, brie, and emmental. Enjoyed this as a cheese fan myself, but probably donāt order this unless you like pungent cheese and donāt mind some weird texture cheese.
Le Delice au Caramel (7.5/10) Caramel mousse, freshly baked caramel mudcake, and homemade french raspberry sorbet. Just your usual mudcake, but appreciate how they incorporate other components (berries, sorbet) because caramel dessert can be one note and just sickeningly sweet. Caramel had some nice saltiness that counteracts the sweetness, and sorbet was a good balance if sweet-sour
Le Feuillete Frangipane (8/10) Freshly baked crisp almond cream pastry puff, roasted pineapple, and pineapple sorbet. Prefer this over the mud cake as the pineapple gave it a refreshing twist. Also like the contrast between the crunchy puff and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNew review (edited on 23 May 2023): I would like to revise my previous review based on new information and a deeper understanding of Islamic dietary guidelines.
Firstly, I would like to express my regret for any misunderstanding caused by my previous review. After further consideration, I have learned that it is not permissible, i.e. haram, to consume any food, even if it is halal, in establishments where non-halal items such as pork and alcohol are also served. I would like to extend my sincere apologies, especially to my fellow Muslim readers who were influenced by my review, for any inconvenience caused and any unintentional misrepresentation of my beliefs.
While I appreciate the delicious rib eye steak I had during my visit and the efforts taken to separate the cooking utensils for my dishes, I now understand that it is important for me to adhere to the broader principles of my faith. Hence, I still give 1 star for the food. I still deeply appreciate the excellent service provided by Pak Felly, Akhmad, and Reza during my visit. I keep the photo I uploaded back then as a proof of my visit.
This edited review is meant solely to retract my earlier review and clarify my revised standpoint to relevant readers. By any means it is not intended to act as harassment, hate speech, misinformation, or misrepresentation about this restaurant. Thank you for your understanding.
#Old review (it is now obsolete and revised by the above): Had a delicious halal rib eye steak here. They do serve non-halal food, but the cooking utensils are separated from the halal dishes. Their staffs are also very helpful. I am very satisfied with the excellent service from Pak Felly,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Amuz Gourmet, a renowned fine dining French restaurant in Jakarta. I opted for their exquisite five-course dinner set, which included an amuse-bouche, a starter, two mains, and a dessert.
From the moment I stepped in, I was struck by the upscale ambiance. The luxurious interior design, featuring elegant furniture and sparkling crystal, exuded sophistication. The attentive staff were always visible and ready to cater to our needs.
The experience began with an amuse-bouche, a delightful creation by the chef that combined salmon with a unique cookie base. For the starter, we tried both options: the burrata and the yellowfin carpaccio tart. While both were excellent, I particularly enjoyed the burrata.
For the mains, we indulged in freshly shaved black truffle over angel hair pasta in a light truffle cream sauce. The chef shaved the truffle right at our table, creating a memorable spectacle. We also savored the grilled Japanese Wagyu A4 sirloin and the barramundi amandine. The portions were surprisingly generous, leaving us quite satisfied.
For dessert, we enjoyed a rich Valrhona chocolate mousse and an Irish shortcake with raspberry mousse. Both were exceptional, providing a sweet and satisfying end to our meal.
Overall, our dining experience at Amuz Gourmet was truly special and luxurious. The quiet, elegant atmosphere made it the perfect setting for a memorable evening. I highly recommend it for any...
