Awesome place to dine in. The decoration of the hotel itself and the restaurant are so aesthetically pleasing, so many spots to take pictures! Tried both lunch and dinner, here's my experience:
Dinner The city view is so romantic, especially with their lighting setting. When we first arrived, we were very sad not to get the window side seat, but we still sat down and placed our order. We ordered truffle soup, truffle ravioli, sea bass, and a dessert (unfortunately forgot the name of the dessert). However, after the soup came, none of the server gave us cutleries, we had to ask several times. Then, after the appetizer, the truffle ravioli was served, but the sea bass was not ready yet. We waited for the sea bass until the ravioli was cold so we complained. Chris, one of the server, noticed we complained for several times already (for the cutleries and the waiting time). He managed to move us to a window side seat, which was marvelous, and replaced my cold ravioli with a new one, served warm together with the sea bass. He also gave us complimentary appetizer while we're waiting. Chleo, another server, noticed we were celebrating our anniversary and gave us an amazing cake! Thank you 😊 she also made sure everything is in order and that we have a pleasant night (despite the unpleasant beginning). In short, both Chris and Chleo managed to turn our unpleasant night up. Oh and the food? Everything was phenomenal. I LOVE everything, 100% worth the price. 5/5!!
Lunch We went for a second visit, this time for lunch. We ordered the bone marrow pie and the steak. Some of the servers remembered us and said hi, which was surprising for us since they must have so many guests. Chris was there again and he was really attentive. He made sure we didn't have to wait for a long time like our dinner, and made sure everything was okay. The steak with bordouise (if I remember correctly lol) was amazing, cooked perfectly in medium rare, tastes amazing. The bone marrow, on the other hand, was really delightful at first, but eventually, it was too oily for our taste (very unfortunate). Then, they forgot to put our steak order into the bill, which I had to reminded the staff and waited for some time for them to fix the bill.
Overall, both experiences were not perfect and I do agree they have lots to improve, especially with the high expectations people have hearing about their reputation. But the food itself was so tasteful and I would love to visit again when I have the chance! Also, their service was brilliant, they tried their best, but I feel it would be better if they have more employees with the amount of guests they received.
Thank you for reading, sorry it's very long! Disclaimer: this is MY experiences and MY opinion. It will definitely vary from...
Read moreA Mixed Experience: Tom's by Tom Aikens Restaurant at Langham Jakarta
As a seasoned traveler with a keen eye for detail and a discerning palate, I recently had the opportunity to dine at Tom's Restaurant, located within the luxurious Langham Jakarta. Nestled within the opulent ambiance of the hotel, Tom's Restaurant boasts an elegant interior design that exudes a sense of refinement and sophistication. The sleek modern décor and ambient lighting create an inviting atmosphere, setting the stage for what I had hoped would be an exceptional dining experience.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a courteous and well-uniformed staff, albeit with a hint of juniority in their approach. The service was prompt, though lacking the finesse one would expect from a luxury 5-star establishment. While the steak showed promise, the overly salty sauce detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. Conversely, the pasta suffered from an unfortunate textural flaw, with a rubbery consistency that overshadowed the otherwise flavorful sauce.
Regrettably, the service team's attentiveness left much to be desired. Throughout the meal, there was a noticeable absence of the personalized touch that is synonymous with high-end dining. The lack of proactive engagement to ensure our satisfaction, coupled with the need to pour our own water, fell short of the expectations I hold for a luxury dining experience. It was disconcerting to observe a seemingly overstaffed team, with missed opportunities to attend to the limited number of tables present.
Moreover, the menu's limited offerings for lunch left me wanting, despite the redeeming quality of the delectable bread. With these factors in mind, I find myself uncertain as to whether I would return for another dining experience at Tom's Restaurant. The final sting came with the realization that the bill amounted to 650k for a single sparkling water and two main courses, a price that seemed disproportionate to the overall experience.
In conclusion, while Tom's Restaurant at Langham Jakarta shows promise with its elegant décor and courteous staff, there are significant areas that require improvement to align with the expectations of a discerning clientele. As I share my experience on Google Maps, I encourage fellow travelers to consider the nuances of their dining expectations before visiting, and I welcome your helpful votes and follows on Google Maps to continue sharing insights into the world of...

Tom’s by Tom Aikens used to be a regular monthly spot for us. I genuinely loved this place. After today? It’s safe to say: never again.
They recently changed their menu—and somehow managed to butcher everything that made this restaurant worth visiting. • The fried calamari were a complete disaster. What used to be light, crispy, and perfectly cooked turned into biting into fried dough shells with the calamari slipping out. And the sauce? Equally disappointing, bland, and forgettable. • The mushroom soup was so salty it was practically inedible—and we had two bowls to make sure it wasn’t a one-off mistake. It used to be spot-on every time. Now? An insult. • The pizza, once a crispy, New York-style gem, came out as a floppy, soggy mess. I used to rave about their pizza to anyone who would listen. Today, I wouldn’t even recommend it to someone I dislike. • The welcome bread? Chewy, stale, and tasted like it was pulled from a forgotten corner of the kitchen days ago. • The Caesar salad? Average at best—a pile of leaves and anchovies pretending to be a dish. Another sad downgrade from the fresh, flavorful salads they used to serve.
As for the new menu items: • The “Tom’s Classic Chicken Kiev” was decent—finally, something edible—but the mashed potatoes that came with it were dry, bland, and utterly uninspired. I could whip up a better mash blindfolded at home. • The “24-hour slow-cooked beef ribs” were one of the worst presentations I’ve ever seen: random chunks of rib dumped onto a sad onion pie like it was a dog treat. Zero care, zero effort. • The lobster sandwich was a total joke. Mostly bread, smothered in mayonnaise, with so little lobster flavor that you could swap it with surimi and no one would notice. An insult to the idea of a lobster roll.
Conclusion: This one-star review isn’t just about bad food (though there was plenty of that). It’s about witnessing a place fall from a solid 9/10 to a devastating 1/10 because someone thought reinventing the wheel was a good idea.
Combine the terrible new dishes, the lackluster execution, and the still-premium price tag—and you’ve got one of the saddest declines I’ve ever seen in a restaurant.
We used to look forward to dining here. Now, we’re just glad it’s over. Good luck to anyone brave enough to endure this...
