I really wanted to like Ann's, as I anticipated their store opening and their branding is top-notch. However, my experience stated otherwise. Although their store is mainly for takeaways, there is a limited seating area. However, they’ll serve you plastic containers and cutlery if you opt to do so (too lazy to wash dishes, perhaps). As for the cakes, the quality caters towards the lower-end market, yet staples high-end pricing. One cake I had was the millefeuille, and it was sub-standard. The cream was too icy; reminiscent of those pre-made millefeuilles available for purchase at the frozen section of a supermarket. Furthermore, the key lime pie a friend had had only had a hint of key lime smell, and felt like it was doused in sugar. Even though I share mutual friends with one of the owners, I don’t get the hype for Ann’s Bakehouse. One of the owners is a travelling foodie (just like me), though she should have a basic understanding of what a good and bad cake entails. If you’re a potential customer reading this, you should support other local, homemade bakers instead, who tend to use premium quality ingredients, high-skilled decorating, and getting what you paid for. Note: A pound cake in the States might cost 250k (usually way more), but pricing that in Indonesia is too much for simple ingredients such as flour, egg,...

The new york cheesecake is quite good, on par with what I've tasted in Copenhagen (wait, what? USA and Denmark are not even in the same continent)... Nevertheless, the cheesecake is very good.
Croissant.. GREAT. With capital G, R, E, A, T. This is the only croissant in Indonesia that come close to the ones in France (unfortunately it is only according to me... Just a random guy who has been to Paris for a week or two, but never stay for a prolonged period in other part of France).
Eclair is kinda meh. It is on a whole different league with eclairs from any bakery or boulangerie in Paris. If we're talking about Indonesian standard... Puff from beard papa...
Read moreFor my sister's birthday, we chose a wholecake from Ann's Bakehouse. From August to September 2019, there is a free delivery to Jakarta area for Mocca Nougat, Reese's Banana, PB & Jam Cake. We chose Mocca Nougat round 20 cm (IDR 345,000).
The cake is so soft, almost similar with mousse, layered by mocca cream, caramel, along with the nougat. The taste is good and less sweet. For the serving, I found out two different kind of serving (this is my version). If you like mushy cake texture, then putting the cake in the chiller is enough. However, if you prefer not too soft cake texture with cold serving just like me, then you could put the cake in the freezer. When you want to eat the cake, you could remove the cake from the freezer, and wait for...
