Weekend Dinner: So last night, Saturday, September 23, 2023, I was back having dinner at Asia Restaurant, The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan. My experience this time was a total flip from my last visit in May 2023.
Back in May 2023, I also had a Saturday night dinner here. But, I was kinda disappointed back then because the variety of food wasnât as much as Iâd imagined, and it wasnât as âwowâ as other five-star hotel buffet restaurants I've experienced.
Coming back to Asia Restaurant last night, I honestly didnât expect much, but it turns out, I was blown away. Theyâve improved a looooot đ±
Pros: Thereâs so much more variety in sushi compared to my last visit in May. Plus, they keep refilling the Sashimi quickly The seafood menu has really upped its game! Way more lobsters than in May, and theyâre bigger and fresher. Oh, and the clams have way more variety too. Plus, theyâve added crab options this time, something they didnât have last May And oh, my favorite spot, the desserts! This time, thereâs so much more to choose from. Cakes, panna cotta, pudding, ice cream, you name it, everythingâs got more variety and is so tasty The dining area in Asia Restaurant is the best cause the tables arenât too close to each other, so itâs still more private and comfortable to chat The staff are really quick to clear dirty plates; as soon as they see an empty plate, they take it right away The roasted beef this time around is also way better, juicier, last May it was a bit on the dry side The fish menu is also super tasty and a must-try, especially with the "Sambal Kecapâ provided there The Indian food here is so tasty, you really should try it Here, in Asia Restaurant, you already got free flow drink like water, juice, coffee, tea, and infused water
Cons: They need to bring back their cheese menu. Last May, they still had cheese options, but somehow, tonight, I didn't see any. If you book there, my advice is to ask for seating that is not too close to the live band, since it can be loud. I was lucky to always get good seating.
I happened to use the Chope Pay 1 Dine 2 promo, so it was just Rp 796.180 for two people. Such a deal, right! Seriously, I would recommend anyone to try it, even if there's no promo. It's still worth it!
While I was paying at the cashier, I had a little chit-chat and mentioned that Asia Restaurant now has so much more variety compared to my last visit in May. The male staff member said, while smiling brightly, âYes, back then many customers gave feedback, so we adjusted according to customer tastes and needs. So yeah, now we have a lot more variety.â
Itâs good, right? It shows that they really listen to feedback, and you can tell it has made a big difference compared to before.
Last night, all the tables were also full; it seems like they now have way more customers than before.
Overall, Asia Restaurant, youâve really stepped up your game and are just getting better and...

Read morewas not expecting this considering this is a 5 star hotel buffet. been to other hotel buffets in Jakarta, but this was just not it.
came here for their dinner buffet on a friday night (which is charged under their weekend rates), the variety of food was very limited, the chefs in the cooking station was not that friendly, the servers were very slow and service was not really that great (it was not even crowded fyi)
a lot of the food was visually not pleasing, some looked cold and as if they were already cooked hours ago (will attach the pictures).
they mostly serve seafood, but lobster was already cold and they cant reheat it again (?!?). tempura looked super sad. for the teppanyaki station, they only had chicken, it was ok. on the grilling station they had: salmon, gindara and steak. i ordered salmon but they came quite burnt so it was not that great. the striploin and short ribs was ok. they only had black pepper sauce which tasted like it came out of a packaged sauce, they didnt have other variety sauces like mushroom sauce, butter, etc. roast pork was ok but the sambel mbe that complimented it was not the right combo, the mbe sauce was already super dry as well it barely had oil. they also had noodles station, but the only condiments were: fish cake, fish ball, veggies and some garnishes. the soup choice was: tom yum, clear soup or beef stock. honestly was not in my forte bcs how can you make a combination of noodle soup with only such limited choice? i tried their tom yum soup and it was bland and the condiments didn't really matched with everything.
dessert station was ok, their cakes are generally edible, ice cream was good. but wait until you see the visuals of the biji salak.. đđ€Šđ»ââïž
overall, to me the only edible food was their steak, pork belly, and their desserts. for the price of IDR 953k per pax, this was so not worth it and personally would not come back again. such a disappointment for a 5 star...
