J.Sparrow Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Jakarta

Located in one of central business district in Jakarta, makes this place suitable for having lunch and dinner in some occassion such as business meeting to hang out with friends. I had my Christmas dinner here with some work collegues. Unfortunately, the interior is far from Christmas vibes. Only a single medium size Christmas tree in a corner next to the entrance door. I wished that they could do better in decorating. And another one that made me dissapointed was when we phoned to make a reservation, they rejected. They said we could just came and have a table. But when we came there, the host told the table were full and you haven't booked yet. I just felt they not completely proffesional in managing. About the place, the interior is great.

What we ordered:

Linguine Clam with Garlic Cream Paste This one is my favorite. The portion is quite big, so you can share it with a friend who doesn't eat quite much food.

Nasi Campur Sparrow's Basically is just a typical of Baliness food. Surprisingly, it cooked very nice. Good taste.

Fish & Chips At first we thought it would be a crispy fried fish served with fries. But it was completely fish and chips. So if you feel quite hungry, better to order side dish from the begining.

Escargot Escargot cooked with garlic sauce and served with onion bread.

Before I went here, I didn't know that it's one of the new happening place to eat and hang out but I expected the place would be nice and it doesn't fall short of my expectations. First thing first, the service was excellent even though it's quite a busy night when I went here. They even called to ask about my reservation since I was late because of heavy traffic. The food came out quite fast and the servers were attentive. Most of their menu are seafood based, "freshly selected premium produce, cooked to enhance the intrinsic taste of the ingredients." Since I've just developed an allergic reaction to seafood, I opted for the New York strip. I mainly go for the steak anyway and the steak was good. It was cooked medium rare just as I asked for and the gorgonzola cream sauce was nice. For the drinks, I had the New York sour and one of their signature drinks, the J. Sparrow. Both are okay but I find the J. Sparrow to be refreshing. My friends had the fish & chip and the seabass and both were good. Edit: I forgot to mention that the music was a little bit too loud...

From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Our server was knowledgeable about both the food and wine menus, offering perfect pairing suggestions. The food came out quickly and exceeded our expectations - fresh ingredients, creative combinations, and generous portions. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed with comfortable seating and perfect lighting.
