CÁRNE RISTORANTE — Restaurant in Jakarta

Made a reservation at Carne for celebrating my wife's birthday with some little surprise for her in which I got some help from some crew of Carne. Reservation process was smooth and instant. Great!

Food: All meals we ordered are outstanding. Beef tartar is delicious as well as Cesar salad. The dry-aged tomahawk steak was the champ that night. We asked for medium-rare and came like we expected. The dessert are also great. Their pistachios napoleone is a must try.

Service: All the staff and waiter are genuinely polite. However, in our case, we were handed over the food menu, but not a drink menu - until we asked for it. A bit unusual for western fine dining restaurant waiter that do not offer or ask what drink at the first place. Complimentary bread also came a bit late for our standard as normally it is served while you are waiting for your food, but in our case it came altogether with our appetizers. The most strange thing we experienced is they initially refused to serve coffee/espresso for our dessert, as they said their coffee machine already off. It was 20.45, not even yet 21.00.

As a person that ever lived in Europe and US, it is quite shocking to find out an Italian fine dining restaurant do not respect their coffee tradition. I regret that I insisted them to turn the coffee machine back on after showing my dissapoitment. Later, the piccolo is great.

Ambience: Well, we came not in the right time as their main space was used for an event, therefore we were placed in second floor - in which to us is a corridor hallway. Not perfect for our special night.

Hope they can improve and we would not hesitate to include Carne as one of our Italian restaurant to complete our favourite list

PS: my wife received complimentary ice cream and cake with a candle....

Great new restaurant in menteng.

When we arrived, the hostess took us for a tour of all the different areas in the restaurant. They have dedicated place to store all the dry aged proteins, there was a dining room inside, smoking areas outside, as well as the bar area.

Food was superb, portion was very generous, and the taste was absolutely delicious. One thing to note that despite selling alcohol here, the restaurant claimed that the food is prepared using halal ingredients. It's worth calling out the steaks which are absolutely juicy, delicious, and generously portioned. They have good selection of appetizers and desserts which are really delicious. Carne also has extensive selection of wines and cocktails.

Service was great and the servers were really attentive. Reservation is recommended.

dropped by this place due to very bad traffic tonight

i did not ordered appetizer but they gave a two piece of bread with their homemade spread (i think). then for main i ordered the dry aged duck. saucing is nice and the duck is crispy but overal okay

for the side i ordered truffle fries but it came with a wedges cutting instead. a bit weird for my taste

then it come to dessert. i was difficult to choose whether to have the tiramisu or the pistachio napoleon. both are recommended by the waiter but in the end i tried the pistachio napoleon and it was very nice.

overall the place has a very nice ambience, design is very good. food is okay to me and price is on the higher end. might give this place another try next time with the steak and other meals. my first impression is only average but not...
